  1. Hi

I have been banded for 9 months. I have not had a situation where I eat something and it gets "stuck" as people describe stuck being painful. Pardon the following, it is pretty graphic and gross:

What I do get sometimes is a food that I JUST swallow feels like it will not move beyond the upper part of my throat and then within 5 minutes it has to come flying back out (usually encased in mucous - so I really do mean flying!). This always happens with bread products (bread, noodles, etc.) The other circumstance I get food seems to be ok, and then one bite goes down and I can tell "this isn't going to work", it feels like I am getting a sour stomach. WIthin 10-15 minutes of this I throw up - not violent vomitting, but bend over toilet and out comes food in waves.

Is this somethings that happens to others? Or is this 'getting stuck' and I am just not understanding other people's descriptions?

If anyone can let me know.... thanks

  2. I had a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago, i was banded in march. I was a nervous wreck because they did a slight unfill before my surgery. Luckily, I had NO APPETITE the first week and was able to maintain my "greenzone" eating habits until the fill was put back in! I must be learning something!!!

On another note, the band posed no problems or issues for me during or after the hysterectomy.

  3. I was there too! I found that more sipping on fluids helped. In fact. The more time I spend sipping on fluids all day the less I get hungry even now! In my first while post op I did 6 mini-meals a day (even though my doc prefers 3 a day always) I just knew that I would be too hungry!

Also Protein powder in shakes or pudding helped fill me up too.

good luck. It's a process...you will find what works or doesn't work for you!

  4. I live in a very dry climate. I have done well since my last fill. I just went on a vacation to a hot and (very) humid climate. I was basically unable to eat all week. When I did eat I vomitted. Not basic pb'ing but actual acidification vilifying. I would still be heaving30 minutes after eating. This was in response to band friendly foods and portions. I finally ate on the 4th day. It had rained all night and was 15 degrees cooler with lower humidity.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or Experienced anything like this? It kind of scared the heck out of me!

  5. I'm encouraged to hear that the drive could increase. I've gained nearly 90 lbs in the 6 years since the hubs and I met. :( He loves me, wants me, thinks I'm sexy, and tells me I'm beautiful every day!!! But I want to feel sexy inside and out. It's not just about looks. . . but about health, energy, stamina. . . and flexibility!! Haha. But love is the most important thing. So I guess I'm off to a great start! :)

Suzeeq- I hear ya! I am less than half way to my goal but feeling better about myself has really helped. This may sound weird but at my heaviest. It hugged me more that my hubbue still said he wanted me!

  6. Check with your doc on meals. Mine says 4 oz Protein and 1/4 cup veggies. I bless if I put it into ameasuring cup it would about 1 cup. I sip all day! I use and reuse the 32 oz Gatorade bottles so I can keep track if quantity. I drink 3 to 4 full bottles a day. I drink: Water with lemon, diluted crystal light decay iced tea, diet Hawaiian punch packets, whatever just to keep the fluids rolling. Good luck!

  7. Hi

My doctor wants me to have a hysterectomy. I was wondering what others have experienced with a second surgery the same year as lap band? Anyone specifically have a hysterectomy? Do you need to have Fluid removed from your band for another sergery to occur?? I am seeing my lap band doc on Tuesday and will ask him all these questions, but am really interested in information from you all...
