Well...haven't tried the steamed chicken yet. lol. I have my check-up at Noon so i'll be posting a "fill update" when I return. I told a friend that I was going to tell the NP to "fill'er up"...I don't want to have to chew anymore..maybe I can survive on protein shakes and tomato soup. LOL! Of course I'm kidding...but I am praying for than the .4cc she gave me a month ago!

Meredith...I think I'm a standard 10cc band and I'm filled to 4cc (I think. I've lost track). I hate that chicken has become my enemy...because its good, lean, easy to cook protein. I'm experimenting with cooking it different ways also. My next attempt: steaming.

Ugh! Monday. I Should Be Excited But I'm Not.
Its Monday. I should be excited but I'm really rather blah today. Why in the world should I be excited about Monday?? Because in about 24 hours, I am going for my 3rd fill and hopefully it will get me off this yo-yo I've been riding for the past week or so. I have increased my protein, my calories, my water and my exercise. Nothing seems to be keeping me from going back and forth, back and forth over the same couple of pounds. I'm probably going to miss my short-term goal of fitting into a special dress for Easter this weekend. oh well. On the bright side, I picked up some pictures from the photo lab on Saturday. They were from disposable cameras that we'd had for a couple of years and just hadn't had them developed. There was a picture of me that my son had taken. I literally gasped when I saw it. I do not, by any means, see myself as skinny yet. I barely see what HAS come off. But to look at the photo of myself...I just couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe I'd let myself get to that point. I couldn't believe how far I've come in such a short time. That picture really WAS worth a thousand words...I just won't list them here. LOL. Time to get on with my day. I am DEFINITELY getting on the treadmill during my lunch break today! God bless! Stating our goals is a great idea! I've got to get my daily water in (I'm behind already today) and I've got to get back on track with eating leaner proteins! I've worked out in some form or fashion just about every day this week (except Wednesday). will try to make it back tonight while hubby is at work, and tomorrow after church. I feel yucky on days I don't exercise. I don't know about anyone else, but allergies have been working me over this week and I think that has an effect too. Happy Birthday and Congrats on the 14 NJ2NC! Meredith...you are so right! That's exactly how I feel. I may be a little obsessed too...I dreamed about my upcoming fill last night! LOL!

Scared To Death Of Plastic Surgery!
I too would love to hear some advice on toning those arms and thighs. The machines, weights and treadmill just aren't doing it (so far).

I Think I'm A Lap-Band Failure!!
Volleymom...I agree that you may need a slight unfill. I've also read other's posts about drinking something warm first thing in the morning helps to loosen the band some. I don't know as I'm not that far along post-surgery..but its worth a try. My surgeon also told me to be careful of milk, something about lactose and the band. I don't really remember because the only time I was using milk was with my protein shakes so I just switched to unsweetened almond milk. Saying a prayer for ya!

Same here Amica! Maybe the plateau is just on the scale, and actual inches are coming off instead?? I know that I only have ONE pair of pants that fit now and all my skirts and dresses are loose...still wearable...but loose. LOL. that's a great NSV!

Horsegirl315: Sounds like what I've been going through as well. I had been under-eating my calories (even though the doc told me not to worry about calories) so I upped mine a bit and increased my daily protein from 60g to 80g. I've also been making sure I hit my 64 oz of water a day. It has truly helped kick me over that plateau but, like you, I'm still looking forward to that next fill. Thank God its Tuesday!! Hang in there and God bless!

No More Cheese And Bread. What Works For U?
have you tried soft cheeses like cream cheese or cottage cheese? Are your meals mushies or straight-up? I alway try to do a couple of days of mushies/really soft foods after my liquid day, post-fill.

60 Pounds Gone!
Congratulations on 60lbs! That's awesome! and in 3/12 months! Wow! I hope that by May 13, I can say the same thing! Or sooner...April 25th will be three months post-op for me, and it will be my 43rd birthday...I mean 4th anniversary of my 39th birthday. What a great present to myself that would be! As for your dad...maybe he enjoys seeing updated pictures of you and that's was his skewed attempt of letting you know that?? Maybe not...but it could be he's very proud of your achievement and maybe doesn't really know how to express it, especially if you haven't been very close to begin with. I pray that is what it is. But it sounds like that even without him, you have lots of other family support to help you celebrate! God bless!

Green Zone???
godsgirlnky...I was banded 1/25 and my 3rd fill is schedule for next week. I'm also a 10cc band and I think I'm at 4cc. So NOT at the green zone. My weight loss has not been phenomenal in this second month...but my total weight loss is still above average than without the band. Can't wait for the fill next week cuz I'm hungry lots in between meals.

Thisclose!
I chose my own protein drink as well. It had to have at least 15g of protein per serving and less than 200 calories, I think. I used Curves protein shake mix but now i'm using EAS 100% pure whey protein (chocolate). I'm 9 wks post surgery. My 1st week was 2 shakes for meals and 1 very specific lean cuisine meal. However, I opted to make my own high protein, low carb meals. Doctor gave me guidelines for that. 2nd week was protein shake 4x per day supplemented with clear liquids if I got hungry. Day before surgery was all clear liquids. I lost 12 pounds during my pre-op week. Congrats on your decision and God bless you on this journey!

Singing In The Choir After Surgery??
you might have to adjust a little on breath-control. A week or two after my surgery, I was singing at church and realized I wasn't controlling my as well. That has pretty much subsided now.

Hours Away
I had some of the same worries. My 11 year-old almost talked me out of it, telling me I was fine the way I was. However, I'm a prayerful person and I prayed and I knew this was the tool that God had placed in my life. I also knew He was going to bring me through it with flying colors...and He did! I'm 8 1/2 wks post-op. I've lost 36 pounds. I read something this morning that really hit home to me and I posted it as my status: Worry is a misuse of imagination. The first week was tough but it was totally worth it. Yes, I would do it again. Best wishes and God be with you on your journey. I'll be saying a prayer for you!

Finally Under 200Lbs
I hope to be there in just a few weeks myself...but I think its going to take another fill to get me there. Congratulations to you!

Hard Time Eating
my NP bumped me up from 60 to 80g of protein a couple of weeks ago. I acheive it by having 2 high protein shakes in a day. Try having a protein shake for breakfast if you feel tighter in the mornings. I've read of a few other people who are...and then by lunch time have loosened up a bit. I'm on my 2nd fill but not feeling restriction so I'm limiting my own food intake right now. However, all of a sudden, I can't seem to get more than a 1/4 c. of chicken down before I get stuck. I just stop eating it and go get some cottage cheese...which is a pretty good source of protein by theway, and its soft. If you're having real trouble getting your nutrition in, you might want to see about getting a slight unfill. God's blessings to you!
