A Tough, Hard Week And Its Only Wed.

So sorry to hear that hun! I know you don't know me, but... *hugs*. The only thing I can say to make it even a little better is that at least she didn't have to deal with all the pain and agony of the lung cancer for long. I know that isn't much, but it is better for her in the long run. She is out of pain now, and she knows you love her and miss her.

    Almost One Day Post-Op

Glad you are doing well! I can't imagine having gone home the same day. I wanted to stay at the hospital for 2 nights instead of just the one! I dunno if I would have been able to not stay in the hospital at all. The pain pump is the only thing that got me through that first day and night. I wasn't even allowed to drink anything - even a sip of water- until after my barium swallow the next day. Wow, I would have freaked out on the person who made that mistake! It would have made me worried sick that the doctor actually did do something other than I was supposed to have done! It happens way too often, so I woulda freaked. Hope you keep feeling better and better, sweetie! Good luck!

    New Milestone

Congrats on your milestone! I hope to one day be considered overweight too!I have a goal that is bigger than some people think it should be, but I don't want to lose too much for me. I have been big since I was 14-15 yrs old, so losing more than a certain amount will make me not feel like...me. But, everyone has to make their own personal goals, and revise them as need be. My weight goal is 180 lbs. I want to not be small, but I still want to get healthy! And me at that weight will be healthier than I have been in AGES!

    Less Than 24 Hours Now...

The night before my surgery, I barely slept 3 hours! But as soon as it was time to get up and go I was up and getting ready lol. You are going to do wonderfully! Good luck girl! You got this!

    February Bandsters?

I'm so proud to in this group of February Bandsters! We rock it! I will say a prayer for all of you going through the surgery in the next few days. I hope it goes well, and that you love life with the band. So far I do! I have barely felt hunger since being banded, and when I feel it I mix up a quick shake and it goes away! Last night I pureed a can of beans with bacon soup and oh man it was GOOD! I ate about a third of it, and my bf ate the rest. I went over to my mom and dad's place tonight to visit. It was the first time I've been out of the house since coming home from surgery Saturday. It was so good to be out and about. My family is so proud of how well I am doing. I weighed myself on their scales and OMG! From the morning of surgery to now I am 23 pounds down!!! Mind you, it is on different scales, but dang! 23 pounds in 5 days! HOLY MOLEY! WOOT!
  7. Good luck to all of you getting ready to go in for surgery in the weeks ahead! I had mine on Friday, and so far, so good...

    February Bandsters?

I'm kinda freaking out! My surgery is tomorrow! I live 100 miles away from my surgeon, so me and my family are driving up tonight and staying in a hotel. I am on clear liquids, so I am having a Jello at the moment lol. I'm so thankful for this site, cause I am taking the advice.... like to bring a pillow for the ride home. It is gonna suck! I might even just wear my nightgown home from the hospital lol.

    February Bandsters?

Thanks jacquelyn49! I talked with my surgeon's nurse, and she said that the doctor said as long as it is just a cold, or a virus, that I can still have the surgery. I'm doing what was suggested and loading up on the Emergen-C and resting. I called and they didn't know yet whether it is bacterial or viral. I'm pretty sure it is viral. Seems like a run of the mill cold to me, but I'm no doctor lol. I won't forget the pillow, hehe. I'm getting excited! I'm sure you are too

    February Bandsters?

Good luck all!Mine is Friday, as long as I am feeling up to it... I find out tomorrow whether I have a bacterial or a viral infection. I'm thinking it might be best to postpone the surgery, but I'm afraid that if I do, I will end up never having it done. . Wish me luck that I am feeling better in time to have the surgery!

    February Bandsters?

Thanks Fit in my 60s! I am waiting on my doctor's office to call me back. @Saucybandster, the only problem with getting on Zithromax for me is that I had C Diff last year and antibiotics are pretty dangerous for me to take. I already had to be on them recently, due to a urinary tract infection. So if they dose me up again so soon, my body may end up worse off than it already is. I will definitely load up on the Emergen-C though! Thanks for the tip!

    February Bandsters?

Well this sucks! I am scheduled for my surgery on Friday, and I am getting sick! My throat has been hurting for a couple days. Scratchy and sore. Now I am sneezing and my ears are hurting, and my nose is running. Also, I am coughing up some icky gunk. As soon as my various doctor's offices open in the morning, I am calling them. I HOPE I don't have to postpone my surgery!

    February Bandsters?

I was told that it was fine to take medicine in tablet form, as long as I take it with warm liquid to help it dissolve quicker. I take a LOT of pills, and some of them are pretty big. The dietician and the nurse both said it was fine. They even said that I wouldn't NEED to take liquid vitamins, as long as I took my vitamins with warm liquid also. I have some liquid vitamins for the first couple weeks, though. I plan on asking at the pharmacy which of my pills I can cut in half to help them go down easier. Taking my morning meds is going to take a good while LOL. I will need to take one pill, or half of one, then wait 2-3 minutes before taking another. Fun fun fun!
  14. Hi all! My name is Angel. I am 34 yrs old and live in Kentucky. I am scheduled to have my band placed on February 10, and I am scared! I have several containers of body fortress powder, and some frozen fruits to put in my shakes. Hopefully I can get through the first stages okay. LOL

    February Bandsters?

@ myluv2drive, I don't have to be on liquids before my surgery. I'm thinking I should start having at least one protein drink per day leading up to surgery. Well, until the day before surgery when all I can have is clear liquids. After reading about all the people who are on liquid diets for a while before surgery, I am feeling like the kid who forgot their homework! LOL A little ill prepared...

    February Bandsters?

Hi All! New to the site! My surgery date is February 10th I'm scared out of my wits, but excited too. I am a little worried because I have read where others aren't doing too well on the protein. I'm hoping that I tolerate it pretty well, and that I do okay on the liquid diet. Wow, just 11 more days....!
