  1. It's awesome that you've lost 150 lbs Sherry! Thet's super encouraging!! I can't wait to get started either Stephanie! Deb
  2. I'm getting use to the idea of being done with rice, pasta, bread for sure....I'm planning to be done with "whites" cause they're not good and I've known it for years. It's a new journey and I plan to make it as healthy as possible.
  3. no questions is dumb sweetie....that's how you find ou what you need to know. t. I've noticed some people push the envelope so to speak, finding ways to eat some things they're not suppose to. So when I say that, and yes, easy for me to say since I haven't had surgery yet, following all the guidelines your doctor gives you of what to eat and what NOT to eat, and keep in the amounts they say too. Our whole goal is to lose the horrible habits we've had and lose all the excess wait we've been carrying around for so long so why even attempt to eat stuff we shouldn't.. Once you take the first "cheat" it's like opening up the flood gates, for me anyway, I've learned that from sooooo many diets. Once I make my mind up I know I will stick to it and lose the weight, my problem has always been keeping it off! With the band it will restrict how much I eat but I still have to put the right stuff in my mouth. Keep your eye on the prize and keep thinking about all the reasons you're doing this. Deb
  4. I've read on here that if you get up and walk that will help with the gas problem, that and gas-x strips...Just follow what your doctor tells you and stay positive! We're on an exciting journey and I for one wish I had done it years ago! I can't wait to get started! Good luck to you!!
  5. Welcome Stephanie! I'm fairly new here too and pre surgery...scheduled for Mar 21 just waiting for ins approval. You'll love this site, there's so much information that is so helpful, I've learned lots in preparing for surgery and things to do and/or look for afterwards. Any questions you have you'll have several answers in no time at all. Good luck to you on your journey! Deb
  6. momee3021 shake hell? You didn't find one you like or what? I start pre op on the 5th and I have like 4 different ones to try, hoping I can find one that is good. I got a sample pack at Unjury.com. I've been told they are really good and mix up very easy. they shipped quick too. Hang in there, STAY POSITIVE....we can do this! Keep your eye on the prize!
  7. I think we all have those fears! The key is to stay positive and keep your eye on the prize! We can do this! Convince yourself you won't fail and you won't continue to give food the power over you.....that and lots of prayer! Good luck to us all! <3
  8. Hope you have a speedy recovery! I've read on here that Unjury is good, and mixes easy compared to some others, I ordered a sample pack but haven't tried them yet. They have unflavored so you could add it to juice, milk or even your broth for extra protein. this forum has their ads on the sides. Its a good website and seems very imformative. The doctors office game me a big bag of samples to try, in it is isopure drinks, I'll be starting preop on the 5th so I'll be sampling this weekend to see which ones I like. Good luck to you!! Hope all goes well for you!
  9. Gosh my doctor orders are 2 wks liquids prior and 4wks after....no creme soups on his plan!
  10. Welcome BW Barbie! I'm fairly new too, I'm pre op, surgery Mar 21 if I get ins approval. This site is great and you'll learn lots! Stay positive and beleive in yourself, you can do it! We can do it! Enjoy your journey and keep telling yourself you're done with being fat! That's what I'm doing! Good luck!
  11. I'm pre-op but from what I've read on here you should be fine unless you start having problems with things going down. Give it a few days, you may be just right. Good luck on your journey!
  12. The doctors are so different...I have 2wks of pre-op liquid diet then 4 wks post op liquid diet before I can start mushies. Everyone seems to be doing well, you all are so inspiring! I can't wait to get started!
  13. I had to do a 6mo program too, it ends officially tomorrow so hopefully all my stuff for approval will go in this week, they told me it usually takes 2-3 weeks, of course I'm hoping for a much quicker approval! Good luck to you!
  14. Woo Hoo!! Congrats! Hopefully my stuff will get turned in tomorrow for approval! Can't wait! Hope you know your date soon!
  15. Welcome! Good luck on your journey!
  16. Welcome! You'll love this site and all the information you can gleen from here. I'm pre surgery, scheduled for Mar 21 if the insurance approval goes through ok. I've learned so much on this site and it's given me questions to ask my doctor....just read all you can, it will help to prepare you. I agree with the other be sure to check with your insurance to see what is expected of you. I had a 6 month program I had to do with a health coach. Good luck to you on your journey!
  17. Good for you! You can practice on us!
  18. I wouldn't consider liver a soft food, like the doctors are talking of. I have to be on liquids for a full 4 weeks after surgery, 2 wks before. I can't wait to get started though!
  19. If you haven't already I'd talk to your doctor and have it checked out. Doesn't sound right to me. good luck!
  20. My surgery isn't until the 21st pending ins approval. Had my 2 1/2 hr class today, informative, fun and made me even more excited! Can't wait! Love the info I get from here, makes me feel more prepared whatever may come my way! Thanks all!
  21. My doctor says stay totally away from pasta, rice and bread, so that is the plan no matter how much I like them. I feel, for myself, thats what helped make me so fat and I don't ever plan to go back once I have the surgery. Velveeta is processed and I agree has to nutrional value. My doctor also said to stay away from processed foods. Good luck in reaching your goal.
  22. Headed to my class today which is normally the day before surgery but they moved it up because of scheduling. My insurance approval can be sent in Friday!! Hope I get approved without a hitch!! Excited for today! Good luck March bandsters!
  23. Congrats on losing 63 pounds! I'm having trouble using as I seem to be on a constant "last supper" type mentality. I'll start my pre-op diet in a week or two, I'll find out tomorrow for sure. Good luck with your journey!
  24. I have to agree with the others, banding doesn't seem as drastic as the bypass. I have friends who have done both, with the bypass ones I see major hair loss, which I didn't want, and losing weight way too fast and then major surgeries to get rid of the excess skin. Banding seems to be just as effective as long as you follow what your doctor says. I'm pre surgery and looking forward to moving ahead with my journey. My doctor felt bypass was a better option for me because I like sweets, but I know once I set my mind to it I will leave them alone and I am determined to be a success! Just research and ask lots of questions, this site is great for learning all kind of things. Good luck!
