    February Bandsters?

Went yesterday for my 8 month check up. I am doing good but I am concerned that I am only losing 3 to 5 lbs per month for the last couple of months. I know the band is a slower process but I am getting discouraged. My doctor says I am doing great though because I have never had a gain. I am having some constipation problems and he feels something is going on so I have to have a colonoscopy on Nov. 6th. Then of course he reminded me that I was 50 yrs old so we can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. LOL..... I feel good and that's the most important thing and I am still losing so hoping to be at my 100 lbs lost mark by my anniversary on Feb 16th. Hope everyone else is doing good. Please keep me posted on how you all are doing. Take Care, Teresa

Is This Normal With A Fill?

My doctor tells me the same thing about eating but for myself I have found that after a fill I stick to protein shakes for about 24 to 48 hours then work my way up to soft then regular. All this is normal what you are feeling, I was the same way. Hang in there.....

    Protein

http://www.netrition.com/healthsmart_chocolite_protein_shakes.html I have been drinking these since I had my lap band surgery in Feb. They are awesome. My favs are Peanut Butter, banana & chocolate which I mix together at times to make a pb & banana or pb & choc. Also instead of using Water I use 2% milk and for a 12 oz shake I use 6 ozs milk & 6 ozs water with 2 scoops of powder. Gives you 247.5 calories and 30 grams of Protein. Love these. Good Luck.

A Few Bites Then To The Toliet

I know this sounds crazy but I find if I drink a cup or 2 of something hot first thing in the morning that my band seems to loosen up for the day and I can eat better especially after getting a fill. I do decaf coffee so you may want to try that. My doctor tells me after getting a fill to stick to protein shakes for the first 24 to 48 hrs then work my way back up to regular food slowly. Good luck to you.

    Hit A Plateau...

Mis73, After you raised your calories did you stay there or did you do it for a few days then drop back to the normal? I am 7 months out from surgery and I am down 71 lbs and I find I am reaching a plateau also.

    February Bandsters?

Hello Feb Bandsters, Hope everyone is doing great. I went for my 6 month checkup yesterday. I am down 63 lbs and my BMI is now at 32. I started at 42 so that was exciting news to hear. I got a fill of .25cc so now I am at 6.5cc's. I hope to get out of the 180's soon but can't seem to break them. I have been stuck at 186 for a couple weeks. I am keeping my calories between 800-1000 per day and exercising so I am not sure what I can do to break that weight. Any suggestions would be helpful.... HELP???

    Second Fill

I have found that after I have my fills I don't immediately have restriction the first few hours. I also stick with liquids the first 24 hours. I usually fill the restriction the next morning when I wake up. I have heard it takes a little while for the fill to actually reach the band itself. I bet you will fill it in the morning for sure. Good Luck
  10. Do not listen to the negative talk. I came here first also before I had my surgery and did my research here. My findings here was that 95% of the banders here were happy with their band. They are all doing great. I have found that the other 5% have either not followed the rules on what the doctors said to do, they didn't have the will power to start with or a small percentage have had faulty issues with surgery which is a small number. Like I said above I am doing well, most of the people that were banded in Feb 2012 are doing well, they people that were banded by my doctor are doing well so you do your soul searching and go with what you feel is right. You can do this.... Don't listen to negative people!! Good luck to you.
  11. I started my journey on 2/16/12 and I have lost 65 lbs with only 43 lbs left to get to my goal weight. I love my band and I would do this all over again and again.

    Am I Too Tight...

Pacing always seems to make my pain worse. Just relax and it will pass. I still love my band, I don't regret any of the pain. For me it's just a learning experience. Hope u feel better soon.

    Am I Too Tight...

I have done that before also. It will stop, just don't eat anything else until you stop getting sick.

    Am I Too Tight...

I have the same problem after I get my fills. I do liquids just fine but when I eat food I would have the same problems. I have discovered that I have to learn how to eat slower after every fill. It just takes time is what my doctor tells me. Good luck to you.
