    I delayed 2 months, my md, everytime I met with him, would tell me, the choice is yours when to have it. Even after I had lost 26 lbs on my own with Protein drinks. he saw that I was on the fence again. He says you have to ask yourself you can loose the weight but will you be able to keep it off. I said lets do it and now 40 lbs lost later I feel soo much better. Hopefully you will get the lapband and from watching you, your family will follow in your footsteps and at least start eating the right things, the right porportions. Good luck.

    If I may ask are your mother and brother having weight issues too? Unless they are paying for it, I would say they have no say so in you getting lapband or not. And as my doctor said. yes you can loose the weight, but does it stay off. Your brother will monitor a diet for the rest of your life? I know from my own family , that when they saw me after I had lost some weight, that I looked "too thin" and I should eat cake too slow it down. But she went on to explain for so long all the family has been large and that's the perception we all have of each other and to see one that now looks different, . I did back out once in my head I wasn't ready, but I rescheduled and worked on myself and my reasons, health and I went through with it, and at first it will be hard to make the adjustments, but pretty soon you will see the results. good luck

    Word, peoples perception of anyone that does a procedure for weight loss is sometimes hurtful and demeaning. They think its cheating, and that its the easy way to loose weight. HA , they don''t have to eat the smaller portions or cut out alot of foods that we have loved all our lives. feel the stucks or the constipation, or be compared to someone else they know that got it done. I hate when Im compared to someone else that got it done. "I didn't have that gaunt sick look like so and so" I just said we are all different. You are right we shouldn;t have to explain it, what I do do, is tell people that I feel better, look better.

    gosh, that's scary good to hear you are ok, but you didn't know it was infected or was it painful/tender and didn't go to md to get it checked. It would be good to know what we should look out for. . I repeat over and over there is so much about the lapband that a person doesn't find out until we actually get it.

    thought about that, "If you didn't love me then, you're gonna love me now? my heart, soul and personality are the same, with more confidence. Ad a whole lot sexier, you missed out buddy!". I actually had someone ask if I had dieted and I said I got lapband and witch had the nerve to say oh you cheated,,, if looks could kill. I did the lapband because my quality of life sucks, newly married, new grandma, and I did nothingI was jabba the hut on the sofa. I didn't want to continue that way or have my grandbaby remember me like that.

    Needed: crystal light, small pillows , comfortable clothes. small bottles of Water. Wasted $, large bottle of benefiber, made me gassy n bloated, gummy Vitamins, not good for lapbandsters. certain kind of yogurts, powdered yogurt, chalky flavor.

    talk to your lapband dr and (even call office and talk to nurse) and let them know what you've been going through. All doctors want you to succeed with your lapband . Good luck!
