It is normal to eat only a small amount and for your tastes to change. At home, read a book, take a walk and/or go back to work!

Everyone has a different experience, but let me share mine. I had pain when I woke up after surgery. My first word was "pain." They must have given me something because I went to sleep, woke up and never had pain again, not even the gas pain so many people post about. I took no additional painkiller in the hospital, no pain medicine at home. It was a little uncomfortable getting out of bed in the mornings, but once out of bed, I was good to go. I took it easy at home and when I went on an errand run (I didn't drive.) about five days out, I was exhausted in no time. Gradually I gained my strength back. Picking up your one year old may be a problem as doctors typically limit the weight you are allowed to lift.
Good luck! You will do fine.

Great response, Thyckness718! A good healthy future w/out all of the aches & pains, the awkwardness in various situations, etc. So looking forward to that!
Awesome list, theoldmusicbox! I totally relate (as I think most of us do!) to the driver's license issue. LOL. I'm looking forward to weighing LESS than what my license says for a while. Congratulations on your fantastic success to date! 100lbs, fabulous! Good luck w/ your 5k!

I just want to live a longer and healthier life. People who don't carry extra weight around have no idea what it feels like and how it effects everything in your daily routine. So I am just looking forward to a new life. Great post by the way.

What are you most looking forward to after being sleeved?
I want to be able to walk a distance or climb a flight of stairs w/out being winded.
I want to FLY (w/out feeling like I'm encroaching on my neighbors)
I want to ride roller coasters & hike w/ my family.
I want to have the confidence that I’ll fit in that chair @ the concert or movie theater.
I want to shave my legs w/ a razor, LOL.
I want my bra to stop slipping off of my shoulders… my purse, too, for that matter.
I want energy to do what needs to be done.
I want energy to get me healthy & confident in myself again.
I want to love my husband confidently.
I want to stop hiding from people who haven't seen me @ this weight.
I don’t want to be the fat mom & wife anymore.
I know there's more, but that's enough for now.....
    How about you?

I feel the same as you on these things. Here's my short list
I'm looking forward to ------ getting my driver' license renewed and NOT lying about my weight.
----- buying the 'cool' motorcycle jacket, not just 'this one since it fits me' for cooler riding days.
----- walking my daughters (12and 4) down the aisle when they get married (before sleeve, dr said that i might not have been around for that if I didn't get under control)
----- going to amusement parks with my 14 year old son and not just being his company in line, but ride the rides with him
----- joining my son to help him train for cross country.
----- finishing a 5k in less than 50 minutes without passing out or dying (my first ever attempt will be in 2.5 weeks)
------ being able to be an inspiration to people, and not feel like they are all just thinking 'wow, how does a person let themselves get that big?'
----- feeling like my wife isn't lying when she says that she really is still attracted to me.
----- burning all of my 2x 3x 4x 5x and 6x t shirts while dancing the happy dance around this fire pit, because I won't ever need them again.

I do not agree that you should tell the second doctor the opinion of the first. Telling him/her might prejudice the opinion you get. In fact, I wouldn't tell the doctor it is a second opinion you are seeking. Go in fresh and get an unbiased opinion.

What's the point of having the sleeve if we don't change our diets to make the most of it? We go into this with the knowledge of how to eat a healthy diet and should stick with it. We have been told and tell others that it is a tool. Let's treat it like the tool it is and implement the healthy eating part, which is the main part of the plan. Going off the plan is an invitation to lack of progress or actually gaining weight. I tell myself, "Never again will I be overweight." and I hope to continue acting in a manner that will ensure it. When I get tempted, I pull out a picture of me at my highest weight and it gives me support in my decision not to eat "bad stuff." I am only three and a half months out, but have resisted temptation and hope to continue resisting it. I'm sorry if I come across as though I think I am a saint, but this is my plan and I am sticking to it.

No, you aren't. Noodles, rice, potatoes, sugar added foods, etc. are not on the diet. Some people go totally with the diet, others "cheat" once in a while, and some get caught up into the "cheating". It all depends on how much and how fast you want to lose and whether or not you want to stay at your goal weight.

That sounds reasonable for you and probably for many sleevers, maybe even me when I get to that point. The problem is that, for many people with weight problems, and that includes everyone on this board, in our former lives it has been "give me permission for a little and I'll take a lot." That's how we got here. That's why, when we lost weight, we gained it back. That's the cycle we need to break. It seems as though you have done that and are able to keep your carbs to what the diet allows. Shape shifter is right "Elminate flours, sugars, etc. Eat protein first, veggies last." If a person can avoid flours, sugars, etc. and keep healthy carb eating to a reasonable amount, they should go for it. If eating a reasonable amount of carbs (myself included in this) leads to eating an unreasonable amount of carbs, they should be avoided like the plague. That is my philosophy. As was pointed out to me in an earlier thread, I may feel and act differently as time goes on.

I would like to conquer the notion/language involved believing that the food is a "treat" in the first place. Why do we call it that? Why do we feel that a piece of food is a reward or gift in some way? After a hard day, why not "treat" ourselves with a cost-equivalent non-edible reward? oh, psychology!

Suggestion: Take it out at home before going to surgery. Otherwise, it has to be checked in and put in a secure place, often the Security office. Then you have to go through the hassle of going to the place it has been held and checking it out when you leave the hospital.

No. I have lost 57 pounds and feel terrific. If you are talking about my body actually feeling a hole where my stomach used to be, no. If you are talking about missing something I used to do, no.

What a great plan for the surgery!
Like you, I can't believe a lot of people in the hospital knew that you had that problem. I can understand them knowing that it happened, but not to whom it happened. Sounds like a violation of the HIPAA privacy rule.
