  1. Hey there! I was banded on Monday too! Im kinda opposite, i have so many rumbles, burps and etc, i cant tell if im starving or if i need to slow down. What is ur food regimen??
  2. I had clear liquids for days 1 and 2 only. From 3 to 14 days i can have any of those clear liquids plus: stage 1 baby food (had pears this morning, wasnt to bad!) lowfat yoguart sf pudding or custard strained cream Soups (tomato, cream of chicken, mushroom, celery, brocc cheese, mix them for better flavors, add seasoning!) vegetable juice non fat, 1% of 2% milk I was told to eat 3 to 5 times a day 2 to 4 oz of whatever i pick above, all the while fitting in 1 protien drink and of course the water! Ive found it kinda hard to get it all in, im only on day 4 so im probably pretty swollen still. Hope this helps, im down 3.5 lbs since surgery monday!
  3. Good luck tomorrow ladies!
  4. I dont get the back pain, but my left side hurts! Thanks for posting, i was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this!
  5. I was banded Monday too, my gas pains are almost completely gone today, but i am having burping etc like crazy... I quit the Tylenol w/codine last night. I am also pretty sore around my left side of my abdomen. My right side compared feels really good, Drinking is a struggle. I got to move onto strained cream soups, yogurt stage 1 baby food, sf pudding and sf custards today. While also trying to fit in 1 protein drink throughout the day with the water!!! It takes a long time just to get my 2 to 4 oz of strained soup down, but its tasty! Its defiantly gotten better each day so far though. I drove to Walmart and went shopping alone today, got my walk in, it was stormy here, so to walk inside warm was nice
  6. I was told no more then 10 lbs for up to 6 weeks!
  7. My nutritionist said not to. it hurts badly. My surgeon says its a personal choice and it effects everyone differently. I just got mine today, i probabley wont try it for awhile if i ever do. This last month i went from quite a few daily to less then one a week on the liquid diet, Hard enough getting in all the required liquid, I didnt even think about pop, even when it was right in front of me!
  8. Banded this morning!! Got there at 5 am, they started surgery at 7:30. I was out by around 9 am. They let me go home at noon! My throat hurts a little from the tube, the gas pains have already decreased to very minimal in my shoulders and really wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. I bought the gas-x, havent used it though. Ive slept off and on all day, they have me on tylenol with codine. No vomiting! Maybe im just lucky, but also thankful. they have me drinking clear liquid 1 oz every hour. I just opened my first sugar free jello, taking very slow, it does feel different goin down. Im burping alot, lol. I also tried some top ramen broth, but for whatever reason am more comfortable with water for now. Its pretty sore getting up from the bed or sitting, happy to have my fiance here to help get me up <3. Other then that just hanging out with my heat pad. Oh i did walk for about 15 mins and am pretty sure thats why the gas pains arent as bad. I might go again. Anyway, good luck guys and to the ones who have already done it, hope u are feeling better each hour!
  9. Top ramen packet is the best ive found, i didnt realize how bad some of them taste plain!! My nutritionist recommended the top ramen packet, thankfully, its pretty tasty!
  10. I did a bunch of appointments and pre surgery labs and tests. But mine were way spread out. My insurance requires a 6 month wait period before surgery. And kind of like an educational period, they provided a life coach, i had to meet with a nutritionist a few times. I been at this for a long time!! Surgery on monday! Finally! As far as the site goes, i just had to play around with it, if u have something specific maybe i can help point it out! Ur surgery is right around the corner! The last month flew by for me! If you have been at ur job long enough u might want to look into a leave of absence for after surgery, im taking 2 weeks off. My second week paid by short term disability. First week i was able to save up enough pto to be paid also. Really excited
  11. i got chewable centrum, they are orange and horrible! My nutritionist said for her lapband patience you dont have to take liquid. She said she would even be happy with 2 flinstones a day plus calcium and iron either chewable or crushed prior to consuming. The vitamins are gonna vary based on what ur pre testing shows u might need. Ive read all over the place that gas-x strips are very helpful. So i went and picked some up today as well as a heating pad for after surgery! I also read that people had wished they had brought a bottle of water for after surgery car ride. Good luck!
  12. I havent had surgery yet, ive read several posts stating a week was perfect. I am taking 2, im sure i will be bored out of my mind!! lol! Havent had that much time off in who knows how long!
  13. I had to do a whole month on liquid... lol, they were just terroizing me i guess lol!! My first 2 weeks 3 proten drinks, one meal. then the last 2 weeks only drinks and allowed to eat pickes, cukes, celery and maybe a piece of cheese or meat if i cant take it, per my nutritionist. 2 days left and im used to it now, just ready to get the procedure done!!
  14. March 4th here too!! 2 more days!!!
  15. I applied for a leave of absence from work. My first week will be paid ( I saved up pto), my second week will be paid at 66% of pay by short term disability. You should look into it, I had to go to my HR department for the details and they walked me thru everything. With my leave of absence, I had to give 30 days notice too, so u may want to check asap!! Good luck!
  16. I went to costco and got 2 huge bags of whey protien, vanilla and chocolate, 140 cals, 3 carbs, 27g protien each scoop. The chocolate isnt all that good, but i fit one in a day because it was expensive lol! The vanilla is pretty good, i mix mine with almond milk, unsweetened, 30 to 40 cals a cup. then about 1/4 to 1/2 berries of peaches pureed. Been on the liquid for a week and a half and its not to bad. I found a sugar free oregon chai tea at walmart..by far my fav with the almond milk and vanilla protien powder. U can also try the espresso syrups sugar free, makes them pretty tasty!
  17. Good luck to u too Shanna! Thank you!
  18. Today i had to start my liquid diet, i have to do liquid all day with one meal and then starting the 18th i go liquid all day till surgery! Today was..interesting! I was really excited last night to get started, the protein drinks arent to bad (better get used to them i guess!) My surgeon is having me do the month long liquid because of my starting size. I will be around on here as often as possible! Here to listen and help as i can! Hoping the month of February flies by, im so excited to start slimming down and feeling good!
  19. Amazing ideas, and the websites are perfect! Thank you so much!
  20. I am having mine 3/4/13! I been preparing since jan 2012, I am so ready, super excited, and have a super long way to go lol!
  21. Hi guys! I get the pleasure of starting my month long pre op diet on Tuesday!! Whoo hoo! The first 2 weeks are protien drinks, and 1 meal a day. Then 2 weeks of drinks only. Surgery March 4th. What are the secrets to a tastie low carb, sugar free drinks? What are your favorite ingredients, what goes well together. I need tons of ideas, I have heard repeatedly that the drinks get old really fast and i dont plan on messing this up by cheating! Please if you have any thoughts, ideas, brands, flavors..share it with me!! Thank you so much!!
  22. I start my my preop diet on tuesday. I have to do 2 weeks of liquid and on 1 meal a day, then all liquid for 2 more weeks!! I stayed good till this last Friday, i feel like i have had several "last meals". Pizza, Red lobster..blan blah, i feel crappy for it, but its good to hear from others how i assume it really is, truely a last meal before the change of my life! Tuesday is going to be the first day of the rest of my life and I am kissing this old like goodbye and never looking back
  23. Thank you for responding! All insight is super helpful!
  24. U should definatly call and talk with your insurance company. If they are participating they should be accepting the allowed amount set by the insurance. Im sure if you call the insurance and probabley the surgeon office they will be able to explain why the amounts are differing so much and they will hopefully advise u that the numbers should be matching more closley as things keep processing. Good Luck!
  25. I am expecting to be able to have my surgery in August or September upon approval of insurance. The reason I am unsure of the exact date is the facility i will be having the surgery requires me to pay my part of the facility (hospital) charge upfront. And on top of that the finacial representative at the hospital is unable to give me the amount i will be due as it is subject to possibley change. While I completely understand change, I would just like to at least get a grasp on the range of dollars i should expect to pay. I work for the insurance company that I am covered through and know i am not able to get a quote from them as they can not quote on facility charges because the contracts differ so much from facility to facility. I will be using a center for excellence and am in Washington state, with BCBS insurance. What i am looking for is just some examples of what you have all paid for the **hospital fees only*** even if u live in a different state, just want to see what everyone else has been billed. I have a good grasp on the surgeon and anesthesiolgist already and they will bill me anyways. I have a $3000 ded, i expect to have met or near met by surgery and a 10,000 max out of pocket (im on a family plan). My insurance covers 80% after ded. If anyone has had their surgery done at the Deaconess Medical Center your input would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks everyone so much!
