    Cigna Approved Surgery!

When I retired from consulting engineering for other pursuits, I went on my wife's policy. it's the only one we have, and the language is very clear. I appreciate your input. After more research, it looks like self-pay is the only way I can do this...and that's not in the budget right now.

    Research Stage

Well, I found out yesterday that the CIGNA insurance I have does not cover anything bariatric-related regardless of why it may be prescribed and/or performed. So getting banded would have to be completely out of pocket...and that's not in the budget. I was really beginning to hope that this was a tool I could take advantage of. :/

    Cigna Approved Surgery!

n2animals, I certainly didn't mean to hijack this thread. Congrats on CIGNA approving your surgery. I'll continue to see a way around the policy language, but it seems pretty clear.

    Cigna Approved Surgery!

The CIGNA policy I am on excludes anything related to weight loss surgery and weight loss management.

    Cigna Approved Surgery!

The CIGNA plan I'm on doesn't cover any type of weight loss or weight management programs or services. So unless I can manage a self-pay, this option is not available to me. Sad...I was set on getting banded, and was starting the local research to see where, when, who, etc. :/

    ManHOOD!!!

An inch every 30 lbs? That would be cool. *Puts that in the benefit column.*

    Kinda Bummed...

Amanda, I have sleep apnea, and have used a CPAP machine every night for the last 7 years. Regardless of what the surgeon says, and what the NP says about your need for a CPAP machine, what conclusions did the results of your sleep study suggest? If the sleep study physician says you need a CPAP, get it. Sleep apnea is a condition you should address regardles of your WLS.
  8. Greetings. I am seriously considering having the Lapband surgery. I'm going to pour through the forums here as part of that activity. I've read a lot so far, and you all have a great resource here. I'm a 52 yo male, 5'11", 290 lbs. Retired consulting engineer, turned personal chef. Live in South Jersey. I'll post when I can and will certainly let you all know what I decide to do. Best wishes. Jack
