  1. Ask your doctor. Only he can answer that.
  2. I agree with the others- let me have my dang coffee. I quit smoking 2 years ago, I don't eat junk food anymore, and I don't have my beloved soda anymore. ...I'm drinking my coffee!
  3. When I was in the hospital having my Lap Band surgery, my roommate was in having her band replaced. Her band not only slipped but her stomach prolapsed up through her band- and it was caused by her drinking soda. She also regained 40 pounds. You couldn't pay me to drink carbonation since being banded, I don't ever want to go through what that woman did. It's just not worth the risk. Best wishes.
  4. You don't have to get a big unfill. Even an amount as small as .1cc can make the difference between too tight and just right. Don't get stuck on numbers because how much that's in your band is completely irrelevant- all that matters is how you feel. Unfortunately, I'd say no, you can't leave it like this. If you keep having pouch dilation from a band too tight it could progress to a full blown slip.
  5. You have to ask your doctor because they all vary greatly.
  6. If you've been vomiting for 4 hours and can't even keep liquids down, I'd go to the ER.
  7. I buy lite/low calorie dressing and measure out 2 tablespoons and track the calories.
  8. You've lost 60 pounds, how is that anything but great? What are the problems you're having?
  9. It sounds like you are way too tight. Contrary to popular belief tighter isn't better. It can lead to both weight gain and slips. You are clearly exhibiting "soft calorie" syndrome because you're too tight. Please read this article, it will help considerably: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/page/index.html/_/support/post-op-support/tighter-isnt-always-better-r118
  10. I would agree with this. Any processed breads or pastas that are "white", "bleached", or "enriched" have almost no nutritional value. I try to stick to whole grain Pasta and bread as well as brown rice.
  11. Welcome! Talk to your insurance company because they all have different requirements. I was lucky, I didn't have to do any pre op diet at all. I had my original seminar then had my surgery just 3 weeks later. It went really fast.
  12. I eat bread in all forms regularly with no problems.
  13. Your post op diet sounds like the one I had. It's rough but totally worth it. Welcome! I'm sure you'll do great!
  14. Well the fact it's not coming back up is good. Maybe try a warm liquid, like tea, to see if it helps. If you're able to drink liquids, I'd give a couple days and see what happens. I know I stay on liquids the first 24 hours after a fill anyway.
  15. Can you drink liquids without a problem?
  16. Wow what a dramatic difference! Congratulations on your success!
  17. It is, actually. It's unfortunate but the removal/complication rate for the old 4cc bands is a lot higher. What makes it worse is the fact shady Mexican docs still use it to cut their costs. It definitely effects the overall success rates as a whole.
  18. Congratulations! You look amazing!!
  19. Oh this is awesome!! I'm totally going to use this!!! Thank you for sharing!!
  20. You popped blood vessels from the force of vomiting. You need to contact your surgeon ASAP. That is extremely dangerous with your band and you need to be sure you didn't cause a slip or damage your stomach.
  21. That's a huge difference!! You look great!! Congratulations!
  22. wow I'm so sorry If you're tracking your calories and still not losing, I would go see your primary care doctor and request a full blood panel. There could be a medical reason you're not losing, like thyroid issues. One thing I've found over my years dealing with doctors is that you have to be firm and you have leave each to their specialty or things get over looked. I'm afraid you may have a medical issue that may be overlooked. Hang in there!
  23. It takes most people multiple fills before they have adequate Fluid in their bands so it's not surprising you can't tell a difference. When you do have adequate fluid in your band, you should be able to go at least 4 hours between meals without hunger. Just curious, why did you wait 6 months for a first fill?
  24. I started losing right away and always did, even during the post op diet. But, I also started tracking my calories and measuring my portions from the day I got home from the hospital. I really think this is why I've always lost. Keep in mind that the band itself doesn't make you lose weight. It's there to control your hunger (which it does well) but weight loss happens when you burn more calories than you consume. It just gets a lot easier once you have adequate Fluid in your band.
