Thanks for sharing you story, it sounds like you've been thru band hell. I hope you get break with the sleeve. I would do it if I was in your situation. Maybe they can use the side with the ulcer and holes to sleeve off. Better luck in your next journey.

Ha! yeah, I have noticed when I have had issues it is always something "I'm doing wrong" couldn't be a problem with the band. Good Luck!

I haven't read every single post but I have notice a lot of gas pressure or heartburn like pain. Everyone in my dr's office told me that gas x strips would be my new bestfriend. If you haven't tried them yet you should. They are a major relief to that pressure pain! I haven't had heartburn since the surgery which is a major relief. I use to have heartburn every day and sometimes at night so bad I would vomit. They found out during surgery I had a pretty big hernia that was of course repaired. Just the absence of the heartburn was worth the surgery for me! I hope this helps some of you.

You'll have to stick to your bandster eating diet and rid of the "eat a meal totally off my diet", until you've reached goal, otherwise you will continue in this rut. I can share with you what I had to do several times to break this rut and it worked for me. Use 4 days consisting of 1 day - Clear Liquids, day 2 - Protein Shakes, day 3 - Protein shakes and chunky Soup for supper, day 4 - mushies. This will break the craving that your body is longing for (old habits). This will also give your band a rest and you should feel more restriction. I had to go to this extreme because I was craving all the bad stuff all the time. I'm doing fine now.

For the first 4 mths after my surgery, I could eat just as much as I had before. I could eat a large Quiznos sandwich, a bowl of broccoli cheese Soup and still have room left for dessert. I didn't watch what I ate at all. I didn't lose but maybe 5 lbs during the first 4 mths. But I didn't gain either. After my 3rd fill, the band started magically working. Over 2 yrs later, and a couple of extra fills, I'm about 10 lbs from my goal of 135. Now I can eat maybe 5 bites of a sandwich, a cup of broccoli cheese Soup, and have no room for anything else! I still eat bread, rice, Pasta, and everything else - just VERY small amts. It's amazing I can survive on the amts of food I eat. But I can and my size 7 jeans show it!
So yes, it's very normal to be able to eat lotso pizza until you get proper restriction. When you finally do - be careful. If you attempt to eat like you did, you'll regret it!
    Good luck!

Well it's done I was banded Monday (6/6/11) also found out I had a pretty good sized hiatial hernia. Thankfully my surgeon was able to take care of it at the same time. Yea!! two surgeries for the price of one!!! Other than all the bloating from the air they pump into you during surgery I feel pretty well. Reported to surgery at 6:30 a.m. ended up having to wait while someone was brought down from another floor in the hospital who needed emergency surgery I wanted to be grumpy but hey while I know this surgery is important to me mine is still an elective surgery. After a little over an hour and a half wait it was my turn.

The surgery took longer than we thought it would we thought between 30min - 1 hour but it was a little over an hour and a half! Was transfered to my private (YEAH) room around 2 p.m. What can I say that has not already been said the air/gas they pump into your stomach cavity to aid with the surgery is just about the worst part of this whole thing. I have had a procedure done in the past that pumped air into my uterus so I at least knew what to expect. I also knew that after my c-section 3 years ago that the best thing I could do was WALK, WALK, WALK so by 9 p.m. that night I had made a couple of laps around the entire floor that I was on ...slowly The next morning I had a Barium Swallow at 9 a.m. and yes!!! everything was great. Now I could go home sometime early afternoon...oh the best laid plans of mice and men. Well in order to go home by 2 I had to have eaten (what a joke LOL should be swollowed) a clear liquid lunch to make sure it stayed down and that everything was still ok. Well it took the Dr. in the radiology department over 6 hours to make the official report! Finally had the report by 3 p.m. ... lunch by 3:30...walking papers by 5 p.m. and was in the car on the way home to my kids and my bed by 5:15!!! My 3 year old son was so sweet ...are you ok mommy? does your tummy hurt? can I see?! Took a nap then I got up and went for a walk around by cul-de-sac since it was dark and the temp was below 100 degrees. Came home got ready for bed and went to sleep for the night! The only time I have taken any pain meds were monday and tuesday night just to help me sleep. Took tylenol today twice but that is it. I feel great all things considered. Once the gas disappeared (UGH) I am just a little sore. This will only last a short time when put into prosective with the rest of my life.

I know there will be bumps in the road that is to be expected. I have never driven any road that does not have any ups and own or twist and turns. We had to learn to navigate those roads and we did with a little time, a little more practice, and whole lot of patients. If I can do that then I know I can do this too!!

I am ready to live my life at the front of the line not hiding in the back of it....!!!

Good luck to those of you who have already had lap band keep up the good work and take it easy on yourselves we are only human and we all make mistakes see as far as I know there was only one perfect person in this world and while he may not be physically on this earth any longer he is still here when we need him. I thank God for allowing me this opportunity to find out how strong of a person I really am. I have already learned so much about me in the last few weeks that I had forgotten that each day is kind of like Christmas it brings something new every day that I have either forgotten or even things I did not believe I was capable of doing, of being, of becoming.

To those of you getting ready for Lap-Band this site for me has been a blessing I read more than I post but each day i learn something new. I have gained strength by the kindness and generosity of others on here who have taken the time to help each other and those who questioned their choice/decision, those who have simply lost their strength to do this alone. God did not intend for us to ever be alone and I believe he has shown that through the kindess of those on this forum. Remember, take this one day at a time and if that seems to be to much then hour by hour, before you know it those hours equal a day.

Life is a gift not a right and I plan on making the rest of my life worthy of that gift!

I am 2 days post-op and feeling wonderful. I do have some soreness but other than that everyday gets better! So far I have tolerated everything. No nausea or vomiting. I am walking, taking my supplements and getting my meals and Protein Shakes in. I am right on track. Just wanted to give you all an update. Good luck to all having surgeries coming up!

God, this is a hard thread to read, because so much of this has happened to me, or I FEEL your pain. :sneaky: Good luck to everyone on this journey (and those who are a good way along the path!).
    1) sitting in a training class for a new job, on one of those wire-type chairs that only have a plastic back and seat. I shifted in the seat, and realized the plastic seat broke from the wire. I had to try to focus my weight on my legs and sit on the edge of my seat - pretending to be interested, but mortified that I had broken my chair.
    2) Going to work with coworkers to a cute cafe, and not being able to squeeze into the ornate booth because there was hardly any room between the booth sides and the table. Had to SQQUEEEEZE into the seat. Of course, was with two super skinny coworkers.
    3) Taking public transit, and taking up a little more than just one seat - not being able to sit in the seat that is between the poles (if you take the bus, perhaps you know what i'm talking about).
    4) Having to wear something not dressy enough for an event because I realized at the last moment that I couldn't fit into my dressy clothes.
    5) Being in grade school and having a HUUUGE crush on this boy a year older. One day a friend of mine asked him if he liked me, and another girl with him said, "he'd have a lotta woman!"
    6) Falling head over heels for a guy over the internet, spending an AWESOME weekend with each other, and having him eventually tell me that he didn't want to continue things because I was too fat.
    7) When dating my ex-fiance, a mutual "friend" once told him that I was like riding a moped - "fun, but you don't want any of your friends to know you ride it"
    8) Airplanes. Enough said. I try to take the train.
    9) Knowing I've backed out of a lot of social invitations because I was self-conscious about my size affecting my ability to enjoy the activity.
    10) Having to listen to my two skinny coworkers talk about how they buy everything at "Banana" (Republic) and I can never join the conversation.
    11) This CPAP machine that makes me feel like I'm 80 years old and needing oxygen in a hospital bed to survive. Rediculously embarassing. I couldn't imagine taking it to a "first sleepover" with someone I was dating.
    12) Having to wrestle out of control top nylons, girdles, shapers, etc. when wearing fancy clothes just so I can pee. I can't wait to just WEAR A DRESS. And that's it. (and underwear, since I'm not Britney)
    13) The thought of running into an ex would mortify me right now, because I'm bigger than I ever have been (well, minus pre-op weight loss).
    14) Having to use chafing cream on my thighs when wearing a skirt or dress, because if I don't they HURT and get all raised and red. Fire, anyone?
    15) When my friends lament having to lose weight after having kids, and how fat they feel after childbirth, and how it will never be the same... and I'm way bigger than them, and have no kids.
    16) Not fitting on some of the machines at the gym... and not realizing that until AFTER you attempt to use it. ha!
    17) At my highest weight, having difficulty, um... wiping. (god that's embarassing)
    18) Feeling like I have to wear makeup or have my nails done just so I can try and make up for some of the fat... like I need to convince people I'm not a LAZY, DUMPY fat girl... but a cute one.
    19) watching the Biggest Loser, and thinking "my gosh, that girl is really big!" and realizing I weigh about 50 pounds more.
    20) going out to a team lunch for work, and worrying about whether the chairs will be comfortable, or if we'll be in a booth, or worrying about the seating arrangement so I don't "crowd" anyone.
OKAY! There's a good 20... i'm sure many of you can relate to some/all.
Thanks for this thread... it's going to get me working my butt off at the gym tonight! :mad2:
