  1. Feel better. You are doing the right thing by being in touch with your doc, good luck.
  2. Surgery is safer if you do the supervised pre-surgery diet. It will reduce the size of your liver, thereby reducing the chance of it getting nicked. Possibly, if you have serious comorbidities they would consider a shorter time. Why do you want to forego that step?
  3. Definitely let your doctor know, and...TEENY TINY sips
  4. Getting more protein, helped my stalls. Your body tries to go into 'starvation mode' otherwise. It's hard 2 get enough protein from foods, till your tummy can handle more volume. Try adding another Protein shake. Someone mentioned that you may be losing inches while not losing weight, that also happens. Just be patient, and follow what your doc/nut tell you. A few months from now, you will be amazed at your progress.
  5. I, too have wondered about the similarities to anorexia. Having been anorexic/bulimic in the past, the biggest difference is the mental attitude. I am not scared to eat, I feel no need to vomit, and I have no guilt because I LISTEN to my body and the signs taht I am full. I just feel like I have a better relationship with food, without the stressfulness of anorexia. Eat to live, not live to eat.
  6. Life post sleeve takes a lot (maybe more than non-sleeved) of self control. You still need to make healthy food choices, listen to your sleeve when it says you are full, start and stick to an exercise regimen and limit 'slider foods'. The sleeve is a tool only, the self control still comes from you. That is why some people have long term success and some don't. Your husband may or may not understand this, maybe only those who have struggled, will. Best of luck to you.
  7. Good luck, it all sounds exciting! Maybe not the pain and no sitting LOL!! But that will be a distant memory, soon. you said: Finally will be the breast lift and augmentation. I am getting the gummies. Just curious, what are gummies?
  8. I'm so sorry, what a disappointment!! Maybe the new insurance can use what you've already done?? Don't give up, if you have to begin the process over, just look at it that either way 6 months will pass. You can choose the time to make a positive move or not. Good luck
  9. It is unflavored, so no, not sweet. There are also chocolate and vanilla, which I have not tried.
  10. Have you tried egg white powder? It is the closest to tasteless that I have found. I tried Jay Robb, but there are others, even saw one in the baking aisle at Shoprite!
  11. How do you feel otherwise? Short of breath? Pressure in chest? tired? nausea? As JenC said, aspirin and doctor. or 911 if you have any of those other symptoms.
  12. I say, the more information, the better. The more time you have to gather info, learn, ask questions, the better prepared you will be when the time comes. Sometimes you learn enough to ask questions that you never would've thought of before.
  13. You could also try bringing the stuff to your local support group or see if your doctor knows anyone who needs.
  14. I searched (obesity, calorie, food tracker and diet) on Google Play and found many, maybe there is one that would be good for you?
  15. My sleeve was done laprascopically, so was able to sleep normal. Side and stomach mostly. Even slept on my stomach the first night.
  16. wonderful complement!! I think his 'tact' was just fine, he told you, honestly, that he sees a BIG improvement!! Us adults could learn a lesson from him.
  17. I do volunteer at the skilled nursing unit, where my mom is. Besides that hospital, there is not much around here, as far as volunteer opportunities. Meetup, seems like a great thing, I've been a member for about a year but haven't been able to attend any outings due to finances and/or timing (have night blindness and have a really hard time driving after dusk) I LOVE being out and about, and with a fun group of people! Do I just have too many constraints to work around? Is it not possible to meet some fun-loving people, if you haven't lived in the same area all your life?
  18. All my life, I've bounced between 275lbs and 115lbs. Now that I am nearing my goal (hopefully for the last time), I'm feeling social and energetic. I always feel better about myself when I am thin, and am basically a hermit when I am fat. The last time I was thin, I lived in a different area, so now don't have any friends, in my area. How do I meet people? I don't work, as I am on permanent disability, I do go to the gym everyday, but most people, including myself, are focused on working out not socializing. There are MANY things I enjoy, hiking, music, camping, arts & crafts, learning new skills, horses, animals, children, movies, books, plays, construction and home repair, etc... How do I begin to have a social life??
  19. I did. Checked with nurse and, as I thought, liquid in=liquid out. As long as it is not severe and causing dehydration it should get better once on purree.
  20. My favs have been EAS AdvatEdge RTD-coffee and chocolate flavors are AWESOME! strawberry not bad, either. Pure Protein powder-Very rich and creamy Designer whey powder- Several good flavors If you need unflavored, I found Jay Robb egg white protein powder to be the closest to tasteless, as 'unflavored' does not necessarily mean taste free.
  21. I'm sorry to hear that. Can the doctor resubmit for approval, emphasizing comorbidities? Sometimes insurance automatically denies, the first time, sort of like a reflex. They save money, that way, because only the truly serious will appeal. Good luck
  22. I think I only had to do 3-4 months supervised weight loss. The nutritionist was a bit of a drive, so I did one of my supervised WL visits with her and the rest with my PCP.
  23. Several months ago, I was looking for the same thing. A nutritionist suggested egg white protein powder (I tried Jay Robb, but there are others). It is the closest to tasteless that I could find. I mix it with smoothies, yogurt and Crystal Light (you do need to use a blender, when adding it to liquids, or it will be lumpy).
  24. The UCLA Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery program recommends 1.1 to 1.5 gms per 2.2 lbs of your ideal body weight. http://bariatrics.ucla.edu/workfiles//UCLA-Bariatric-postoperative-diet-instructions.pdf Good luck to you, sounds like you are having a terrific start to your journey.
