  1. I can not wait for that same NSV!! I would love for my husband to be able to pick me up. Well, he is super strong and could do it now, but I wouldn't dare let him for vanity sake. I want it to be effortless for him...so he does it often! Even just to be able to sit on his lap, you know how couples do sometimes. I just want to be able to crawl all over him! And, yes, as cludgie says, carry me over the threshold, finally!
  2. Well it is crazy, but I feel like the lbs are melting away! Sleeved on 1/17/12 and I'm down 27lbs!!! I know it will slow, but I'll take as much loss as possible! Now, I wouldn't say that about my wallet.
  3. LOVE IT! I think I'm going to do the Target trip. Keep those bargain suggestions coming. I'm all for saving as much as possible and I'll take all the leg work suggestions you want to share. Thanks a bunch.
  4. Interesting. The Premier protein shakes is what I've been using and what was recommended along with others by my nutritionist. I was surprised to read your post. It's working for me. I did try a sample packet of the Unjury chocolate protein mix and it was pretty good. The convenience of the Premier shakes is ideal. So, that is what I'm going with. Cheers!

    Newbie

You are on the right track. From what I read, the sleeve sounds perfect for you. I was apprehensive for many many reasons, but I am so glad I got sleeved. You can review my blog from the start for reference. I celebrate your decisions and taking the steps to a healthy new life and lifestyle. Remember the sleeve is a tool that will assist in a healthy new life and lifestyle, but you make it happen. Looking forward to reading your progress. Keep the faith!
  6. I also love chinese food and would love to have some sort of veggies stir fried or something like like - I've been craving all kinds of vegetables and spicy! A friend of mine, who was sleeved abt 18 months ago and has lost over 150lbs, gave me a couple packets of a dried hot sour soup that you add water to, then strain the chucks out, and I added Beneprotein to that. Had great taste and helped satisfy the flavor craving. But, I'm so looking forward to sinking my teeth into something soon. Today at work I totally left my protein shake and yogurt on my kitchen counter. So, at work my best option was a lentil soup (I'm still on the Liquid Phase). It's kinda thick but nicely spicey, but thicker than anything I've had yet. So, I'm chewing chewing chewing the little lentils that aren't fully broken down and I think I've had 6 spoonfuls and I'm feeling super full. I love my new stomach! :blush5:
  7. All of you are simply INSPRATIONAL! I'm just into my 3rd week post-op and have lost 24 lbs and already feel much lighter! I am so looking forward to losing more than half myself, just giddy with excitement! I'm on the way. And, for the first time in my fat life I know I will succeed and keep it off. Congratulations to all of you!

Day 15 Post-Op - Icky Vitamins And Calcium Citrate...

Thanks for the vitamin and calcium citrate recommendations. Yes, the bariatric vitamins and calcium I've been taking are the Celebrate brand ones I got on-line made especially for bariatric patients. I will try both of your recommendations and see what I can keep down.

    13 months in

The transformation is awesome! Congrats. Now...why would one have to advertise "Porn Star" on their belly? Is it kinda like the really super short guy who has to have the tallest, biggest truck to drive around in so people see him as the "Big Man?" To each his own. Of course I mean this in the lightest of humor.

    B4 And after

    Beauteous!
  11. I LOVE food. I went to culinary school, I've done lots of catering, I worked at a winery for 12 years and did many events with pairing wine and food, I order catering for my group at work all the time and plan parties and great food and wine is always up front and central in my thinking and life. I will not give up good healthy food. However, I now and previously, look at food as nutrition. I want the best nutrition possible. I will use this fabulous sleeved stomach as a tool for a forever healthy, fit, lean, life. I believe down the road I can/could eat anything I want, but it will just be in much much smaller portions to be satisfied. I truly believe poor un-nutritive food, processed food, junk food, SAD (standard american diet) diet is the culprit for the majority of disease and obesity. We all have to make your own decisions on how we fuel our bodies. You can fuel your body with fat, sugar, white flour, processed foods and junk and do not one thing positive for your health, or you can fuel your body with food and calories that count and provide good nutrition for an ultimate healthy life. I personally will be sporting a plant-based nutritive diet for the rest of my life - once I am done with this liquid phase. Will I ever consume a meat product, dairy or something not all that healthy and nutritious?, yes, very likely, but it will be on a very rare occasion. I highly recommend a movie - Forks over Knives - http://www.forksoverknives.com/. Just watch it, it doesn't mean you have to change everything you do/eat, but it will enlighten you and will likely change something in a healthy positive direction with your diet. It was life changing for me and many people I know.
  12. Hang in there! It will pass. Your body will heal and work it out. You do however, need to get your water and protein in, it is important. And, yes, if you need your pain meds, use them! You've, like all of us, had MAJOR surgery. It is not an easy process, but you will get better, each day. I'm on my 15th day post-op and once you are out a week you will feel much better. I feel terrific, though still a bit tender, but honestly, it does get so much better and you will find everyone on this site is super supportive - we've been through it.
  13. I am back at work. I was looking forward to it and now that I'm here...happy to be here, but...it seems like I never left. Some people didn't even know I was out, but those that did are happy I am well and back (which always feels good). Keep in mind...I have not told anyone at work that I had vsg surgery, just that I had 'female surgery' (I'm a female and had surgery!). About an hour ago a friend/colleague presented me with one of her to-die-for homemade carrot cakes to celebrate my return to work (my once-upon-a-time favorite favorite sweet ever!). I thanked her profusely and we put it in our interaction area with plates and forks and a sign for whoever wants some, come get it - in a matter of seconds it was gone. My friend had cut me a piece. I said thank you and that I would enjoy it a bit later with a cup of tea. Well, once my friend was back in her office and working away, I took my yummy looking piece of carrot cake to my receptionist and it is now gone. Whew! In the past I would have gobbled it and gotten a second piece. I went through most of my clothes last evening and purged all the clothes that currently do not fit, those in larger sizes. I will never go back to that size again and I hate all those clothes anyway. I did keep one nice shirt and pair of jeans - so I can post one of those 'look-at-me-now' photos when I reach my goal weight. I can not wait for that day, but just knowing it will really happen brings me much joy. Looking forward to tomorrow, and the next day, and the next and so on.....

    Okay, This Isn't Funny

Cucumbers are known to produce gases, unless you get the english burpless ones. Try removing the seeds and see if that works. I think it is the seeds that are the gas producers.
  15. Hey, it is obviously working for you. I was sleeved the same day, 1/17. Two more weeks of the liquid phase and then two weeks of pureed phase for me. I do find it strange that you weren't given a post-op diet.

    My Decision

No, you (we) are not cowards. I was sleeved on 1/17. I also struggled with telling people or not. I told my work I was having' female surgery' and that is it. Today is my first day back to work and everyone simply just seems happy that I am back and in good health. I've only told two of my closest friends, my sister and my husband. I only told my husband I was going to have the surgery done like a week prior. The others I told after the surgery as I didn't want them to worry (I am rather independent). All four are super supportive. My husband was freaked out a bit, but he is so happy that I'm happy. I figure it is my life, my decision and I don't have to tell my business to anyone else unless I want to. I feel absolutely fine with not telling people. Plus, I just don't want to talk about it all the time and I don't want judgement from others. It is what it is and I'm getting healthy for ME. I might tell others down the road. Who knows. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. For now, I'm concentrating on ME for a change. Best of luck to you.

    A Litte Discouraged...

Hi. I was sleeved on 1/17. Everyone's body is different. Addiitionally, we've just gong through major surgery and need time for the process to proceed. I feel it is very important to simply follow your bariatric center's recommendations. I am doing my best to get those six 4oz protein meals in each day. A couple days I only got four of the 'protein' meals in, but did 6-8oz to make up for it. You do need nourishment. Walk, walk, walk and get the protein, water and vitamins in. You are doing great. Don't starve yourself. Don't go backwards, move forward, follow the plan, and reap the benefits.

I Can't Drink Crystal Light Anymore

It's just all chemical junk that no one needs anyway. You are doing yourself a favor not drinking any of it. Try an iced herbal tea or water, water, water.

    Post Op B12?

Very curious about your question and the replies as there has been no mention of B12 injections from my doc.

    Day 11 Post Vsg

I have figured out the ticker and my ticker slider keeps going down...I mean going down in a good way - in LBS! My husband is rather freaked out that I haven't eaten anything in 11+days - from the perspective that I would never miss a substantial meal and snacks prior. I keep telling him that these 'delicious' protein shakes are food and I am getting nutrition and calories. am looking forward to the pureed phase, which is just two weeks away. He is very supportive and has been more conscious of what he is eating also. Love the boomerang effect. I'm going back to work on Monday and looking forward to that. It is nice to be able to lie flat in bed without any tugging or pain and this has been so for the past three nights. Going for a walk/hike today along the coast in Pacifica, CA. One of my favorite places. Seems strange that I have lost 20lbs in 11 days and I'm not starving nor hungry. I'm in shock that I am under the 100lb marker of how many more lbs until my goal weight. Life and how I am starting to feel about my body is good, no...pretty darn terrific. One Love.
