    First Fill Done!!

I had my first fill today at True Results in Houston. I was nervous and really did not know what to expect. I waited almost a hour for my turn, filled out paper work and went to the back with the nurse. She was trying to make me more comfortable by telling me everything she was doing but that did not work She started with a small needle and lots of pushing, which just felt odd. It did not hurt, but it did not feel good either. She determined that she need a longer need to reach my port, so the second time was a charm. She took out the saline that was in the band and measured it. I have a 10CC band and there was already 5CC in it!! She added 1 CC today for a total of 6 in my band. No wonder I have not been hungry!! I sat for about 15 minutes and drank my water and I am feeling good. I am on liquids for today and soft food tomorrow and then back to regular food. I have lost 12 pounds since my surgery and I will see them again next month. I hope it will be another good month for me!! On a side note since I first began the process with them in December I have lost a total of 33 pounds!!

    February Bandsters?

I was so surprised at my first fill last week. She took the all of the saline out to measure it, to see what was in from surgery and there was already 5 CC's!! I think that was a lot to start out with. She added one so I have 6 total in a 10 cc band. I really did not think there was that much in there. Im doubtful that I will need a fill next month. I have lost 15 pounds since surgery on 2/15. I am hoping for another good month.

    February Bandsters?

I had to up my protein. I am really not a big breakfast person, so my doc has given me the okay to do a protein shake for breakfast, although I need to be on complete solids. I picked up a Body Fortress protein shake and it has 52 grams per scoop. I also take a protein shot that has 26 grams in it. That way between my solid food intake and these items they are helping me meet my protein requirements for the day. Thankfully my skin, nails and hair are hanging in there, for now I guess

    Lack Of Energy

I have felt really run down the last couple days since my fill. I took the kids to the carnival and it was super hot outside and I had to sit down before I passed out. I drank two bottles of water in the four hours we were there. Once I could sit in the AC I felt better but I needed a nap before I could do anything else. Today was much of the same, after having family pics taken, picking up our new dog and cleaning the house, I was drained!! My hubby said he noticed that I get worn down really easy lately. I did increase my vitamin intake, but I am really concerned because summer is going to be here in a few months and if I can not take the heat, I am going to miss out on quite a few things with the kids this summer. So I am looking for any suggestions on how to give myself a energy boost! BTW my mother is driving me nuts!! But that is another blog for another day...

    February Bandsters?

I have. It has gone okay. I have not had any stuck issues or vomiting. I have been able to figure out my body's signal for being full. If I eat too much I get a pain in my shoulder. It has been an adjustment from soft foods to solid. I am taking it a day at a time.
  9. Someone actually told me I look skinny today! :)

4 Weeks Or 29 Days Post Op:) Here's The Skinny...

You are doing great lady!! You and I are running right together and 12 pounds is awesome!! I have found for me when I get to feeling a bit run down or my head is hurting, it is usually one of two things. I have forgotten to take my vitamins, I take calcium and a multi twice a day. Or I have let too much time go by without eating. For me I have to remember to eat. Congrats to your hubby and welcome him to bandland for us!

24 Days Post Op And Adjusting

I think I am adjusting pretty well. So far I have lost 12 pounds in the almost month since surgery. I have my first fill on 3/14. I still am feeling pretty good. I do not eat anymore than 1/2- 1 cup at a time and I always eat my protein first. Water is a bit of a struggle because I have to make sure that I drink it slow enough to not cause this overwhelming feeling of being super full. Mushies have been so great!! But honestly I am not looking forward to solids. The thought kinda scares me. I know I can not stay on soft food forever, but i just am not looking forward to regular food. And I will be back to liquid and mushies after I get my fill for a day or two, so I really will not have a chance to actually be on solids for long. Sigh....... I am enjoying not being focused on food and also I have learned the difference in between being hungry and just eating for the heck of it! My mother is not really happy that I did this. She told me that between her and my brother that they thought I was being vain and it was not as though I was spilling out of my clothes and falling out of my seat. Well, I am never going to spill out of clothes, because I always have clothes that fit. But buying a size 24 in said clothes is not ideal. Oh and nevermind that I take meds for high BP for two years( I was able to stop those recently) or that my back, knees and feet were hurting all the time. My feet will swell at the drop of a hat due to the amount of walking I do and the weight I carry. I am only 37 years old and quite honestly I should not have these "old lady issues" So it hurt my feeling when she said it, but I just told her that I did this for me and my health. I can't place my health and expectations on no one but me. I have been getting lots of compliments on how defined my face is looking. I looked in the mirror and it actually looked "skinny" to me!! I can not express how happy I am that I have made the choice to do this!

24 Days Post Op And Adjusting

Now I do have to say my mother is generally not this judgemental. She is my biggest fan and support but she did not agree with the choice. I am hoping she comes around but if she does not, we will have to agree to disagree.

    Slimmimg Down

    That is awesome! Congrats!
  21. I have not had this, but my friend did. She is two months ahead of me and would have to run, and I do mean run to ladies room. I, on the other hand can sit in there all day and nothing. Maybe it varies from person to person.
  22. For the first time in my marriage, I weigh less than my hubby. :)

    Just Asking

My hubby "joked " about this for months before I had the surgery. I finally had to tell him that enough was enough. I was not going anywhere, I was the same me and I was happy with him. I expressed my unhappiness with my weight and health issues to him, and then the light bulb went off. I am three weeks post op and he is my biggest support! He makes sure I remember to take my vitamins and makes my meals for me. Men are funny and can be a bit insecure at times. Hang in there.
