  1. I had a first appointment with a surgeon set up for next week, but they called me back and said my insurance won't cover it yet because my BMI is 38.1 - I need a comorbid condition before they can see me. They told me to have my PCP get me tested for sleep apnea. Doesn't matter that I have chronic low back pain, knee pain, heart murmur, reflux, and the list goes on. BCBS apparently has a very strict list of what they consider a secondary condition if your BMI is under 40. I'm really frustrated right now.
