  1. I am two days post op- banded on Tuesday am! I am feeling pretty good- sore, but not miserable. I teased my dr right before the surgery to make sure that he got all the co2 out and so far I haven't had any gas pain. I am having lots of nausea keeping anything other than Water down, but it's getting better. Weirdly, I had an allergic reaction to the adhesive that they used to cover my steri- strips, so my abdomen is a mass of Fluid filled blisters that itch like crazy, and that's been the worst. Going to try and step down from the full doses of pain meds today and just save the full doses for at night. weight at start of pre surgery diet - 304/current weight 293/surgery scheduled for April 10!
  2. I am 42 years old, and can barely walk because I have bone on bone arthritis in one knee. I am too young for a knee replacement, I have two young kids, and I am sick of watching them from the sofa while they have fun. My dad is disabled b/c of his weight and diabetes, and it's rampant in my family. There is no way around it- I am doing this for my life, so I can be there for my family. That being said, I have been overweight my entire life and can't wait to wear cute clothes, ride the rides at story land with my kids, and generally do all the "fun" stuff that I have been missing. That isn't why I am doing the surgery- but it is my "carrot" and I am focusing on the fun stuff to help me get past the mourning I expect I will do for food and my old way of life. I think you need both sides of this- if we just wanted to see our BMI go down , it would be a lot harder to stay motivated!!
  3. Hi Everyone!! I am Laurel, and I am scheduled for surgery on April 10! I am a stay at home mom during the year to my 2 kids aged 5 and almost 9, and during the summer I am a camp director. I am nervous about lots of things- recovery, whether I will be healed enough to swim 550's with my staff in june, whether I will get dehydrated over the summer, whether i will still love cooking and being part of my gourmet group. I am SO EXCITED to have less knee pain, more energy, cute clothes....looking forward to hearing all of your stories on this journey
  4. April 10! Coming up so soon!!
