You might try other acid reducers, too. I started off with prilosec, but it didn't do anything for me- I was having to chew a lot of Tums still. Now I take Pepcid in the morning and rarely need Tums.
    Congrats on the 32 lbs!

Your food intake sounds right on track to me. I had hunger pangs in the beginning too, and still do sometimes. I tried doubling my prilosec dosage for a while to twice a day and that seemed to help. I'm back to once a day now and only get hunger pangs when it makes sense to get them and it doesn't happen every day. I don't really know what it is medically except that your body is freaking out and doing all kinds of weird things. My suggestion (other than upping your dosage) would be to just sip on a Protein Shake when you're hungry and make sure you're not overfilling your sleeve. Don't worry about eating too much at this point. Just try to be comfortable and make good choices and be aware of your body. You'll get the hang of it eventually and your body will chill out and you'll feel normal again soon enough.

Walmart has them and so does Shoprite. They are about $4.74 for a 4 pack. You can also get $1.00 off coupons at Thecouponclippers.com.
Sunday's paper, 1/22, had a $1.00 off coupon on any EAS product.
My doctor recommends the EAS AdvantEdge because they are only 100 calories, 3 carbs and 17gm of Protein. And...YUMMY.

I think you're liable to find quite a few very different responses to your question. I, for instance, eat five or six times a day; my sleeve doesn't hold much at all, even at 9 months out, so I eat "mini-meals" and eat frequently.
You should definitely follow your physician's plan; if you find your sleeve won't tolerate that, you may have to make some adjustments. Best wishes to you!

I know what you mean. I had a bunch of gurgling/burping/discomfort when I drank the first week even with small sips. This week I accidentally took a huge sip after exercising and it went down just fine. I am so relieved because I am constantly thirsty and it was hard to quench the thirst with tiny sips.
I am also relieved that my sleeve tolerates cold drinks just fine because I love ice cold drinks!

I think I just had my 1st, I don't regret this, moment . First of all I don't regret the surgery, but having been pretty uncomfortable since surgery I have wondered if I have done the right thing. Anyway I woke up this morning did the normal routine, realized I was REALLY thirsty so I went to the fridge and grabbed my G2. Without even thinking I took a big ol' drink, as I started to swaollowmi realized what I did and thought crap this is gonna hurt. Low and behold it didn't! I took a normal drink of cold liquid and it didn't hurt. I'm so excited! Of course that turned to fear that I broke my sleeve, but I doubt that's possible, and I'm going to choose to believe that. It felt so good to be thirsty and take a normal drink quench that thirst I guess it's the little things.

My sister in law had the bypass 7 years ago and never got to goal. I estimate she missed it by 25 to 30 pounds. She lost and has maintained a 140 pound loss. She never wanted to exercise (which I don't condone), but yet she is an energizer bunny type person. She never stops. She now has a better half, a child and feels incredibly happy. I consider her a success story.
Has she had a perfect journey? No. Should she exercise for health reasons? Yes. Does that mean she is not a success story? Heck no! I do think we should all strive for goal, but to me, it is not an "all or nothing" situation.

I find the general tone of this thread to be very disturbing. Here's a woman who has successfully maintained a 75 lb. excess weight loss for three years, eats whatever she wants, says she's happy, and the majority of the opinions expressed are rather negative and judgemental. A lot of posters have concluded that she "settled," became complacent, is unhappy, and is "rationalizing." I see nothing in the OP to suggest this and, to answer the question "am I being ridiculous?," I'd have to say YES. Without knowing more about this person, I would guess she was simply sharing her success with you. I have no idea why this upset you so much.
As some have said, everyone has a different goal when they decide to have VSG, just as they have different reasons for choosing WLS, and that goal isn't always an arbitrary number on a scale. I have lost 80 lbs. since my surgery in May, 105 from my highest weight 2 years ago. I'm 12 lbs from my surgeon's goal weight, which is 40 lbs HIGHER than my "ideal" weight. If I never lost another ounce, I would be thrilled with the success I've achieved, even though I'd still be considered "obese" based on my current BMI of 30.1! (down from a high of 46.7) I'm healthier than I've been in years and that was MY goal. My surgeon tells people I'm her "poster child" for WLS success. I would be devastated if I shared my success with someone only to have that person turn around and post something this negative on a public forum.

It's easy to talk about someone who can't talk for themselve. I appreciate us all wanting to discuss "giving up" or "self esteem" or how we will act in three years or how ONLY losing 75 pounds is half a$$ (my words). The truth is it is scary to see someone with the same tool as us not lose as much as we or perhaps she would want to in three years. The statistics also say that many people experience a bounce at three years. I have also lost weight and swore I would never gain it back, yet have, and also have personally never gotten to goal on a diet... but have been dieting sense the age of 8. We don't know her story. I still think getting to goal is a mystery... almost as mysterious as those that never get fat. I am very close to goal, and really, I still don't understand it. Bless her heart, there but for the grace of God go I! I prefer to stay humble. I don't really know what the next three years will bring...

I use Aveeno Ultra Calming daily moisturizer and I love it. It's a little on the expensive side but one bottle lasts me about five months, give or take.

You won't really feel "full" on liquids. Right now you have post-op swelling so it's difficult for even liquids to go down, but they leave the stomach quite quickly and don't fill you up like food will eventually. You cannot stretch anything with liquids. Keep drinking as much as you can. I found that hot liquid was easier to tolerate than cold too. Now I like cold better except in the morning.

My NUT told us there is such a thing as too much Protein and to aim for 60 - 80. If we go over occasionally that's ok But on a regular basis increases ketones and can affect your kidneys

Em, are you getting enough Protein? I am in Pre op hell to as I'm sleeved om the 17th but I'm not feeling hungry. I can only attribute this to getting in 70 grams of Protein a day. I'm sorry you are miserable and hope this helps some. I just keep counting Dow just 1 day at a time and it will be worth it. Good luck!

Last night my NUT told me to quit worrying, focus on my calories, Protein, and making good choices and the rest will fall into place. The limits she has put me on in those areas will take care of my worry about carbs. I love my NUT!

^This. Absolutely. While getting advice and researching what works for others is a really smart thing to do, in the end, it boils down to what works for you and what will work for you long term.
I have never counted my carbs (or my Protein, for that matter, or calories)--I try to eat Protein first, but I definitely eat carbs at every mini-meal. I know a lot of people on this board have some fantastic successes with the low-carb approach, but that wasn't going to work for me--so I found the way that did work for me (and is still working).
