You may want to contact your doctor, it's unusual not to be put on a 10 day liquid only diet to shrink the liver for surgery. I was given the pre-op instructions and diet on my initial visit and again after I had my EDG with the surgeon. The pre-op diet and instructions are really important. I'm scheduled to have surgery on August 23 and will begin my pre-op diet the Sunday I return from a 7 day cruise. I have received my Unjury protein powders and now I need to get the last of my supplies before surgery. Looking forward to starting life anew!

You lost 18 lbs WITHOUT your first fill, you're doing EXCELLENT! Don't compare yourself to your co-worker or anyone else. Everyone is different, I'm do to be banded on August 23rd and I'm not expecting much weight loss. I know my body it's stubborn as a mule but after about 2 months it will have no choice! LOL Between my working out, running and the band it'll have no choice but to behave BYE BYE fat cells! So excited!!

WooHoo Carnival Magic! My daughter and I are sailing on the Magic on August 5th to Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Cozumel. This will be our first cruise and I'll be banded 10 days after I return on August 23rd. I'm glad to hear I'll still enjoy myself next year when we're planning a cruise to the Bahamas in July 2013, I'll be about 10 months post op then. I have a double blessing my life great vacation then being banded and starting my new life! I'm truly blessed!! All Smiles!! PS, I can't wait to tast the chocolate melting cake! :P :P

My EGD revealed I had the H-Pylori bacteria which causes ulcers, Dr. Reilly prescribed PrevPac for 14 days. Ugh, I'm sorry the cure is worst than the disease stomach cramps all night. 13 more days of this! I have to have this completed by my surgery but oh my this is hard!

I have coverage through UHC but my employer excludes weight loss surgery so I'll have my band done via a hernia repair. I'm responsible for the cost of the band which is $5500 and True Results is financing this at $235 per month which includes fills. I wish I had coverage but I'm willing to do this to get healthy. Oh gosh, I'm going on a 7-day cruise on August 5th and then I'll be banded August 23rd. Lord, 5-7 lbs! LOL I'll try my best to hit the gym after the buffets!

I have no plans on disclosing my upcoming surgery to anyone but my soon to be ex-husband and only him because I need a ride to and from the surgery center, LOL. This is private decision that I made for myself and it's none of my family's or friends business unless I want it to be. I don't mind going out to eat with friends and family and eating what I can because what I eat or don't eat is none of their business as well. Don't worry about what they think and have a WONDERFUL VACATION!

I believe it is becausr you've not had your first fill and there is no restriction and the liquid diet weight loss is only temporary, not really for weight loss but to shrink the liver for surgery. Remember when Oprah did the Medifast diet, as soon as she began solids all the weight came right back. The weight should start coming off once you actually get your restriction. I know it's hard but be patient, it will come off.

I never even thought about the actual brand of LapBand good information to know. I'll also be checking whether or not all the other folk involved in my surgery are In Network!!

I just checked and my physician is an In-Network physician for UHC with a totally different address from True Results more than likely they will bill under your physician but definitely have them confirm this with you. You don't want any surprises.

Is your physician an In-network doctor for UHC? They may bill under the physician and not True Results. Good question though, I'm scheduled to have my band surgery on August 23rd but my hernia repair will be the only thing billed to UHC as my plan excludes weight loss surgery. Companies can choose whether or not to cover and of course my company won't cover it. I better make sure my physician is In-Network, I certainly don't want any Out of Network charges as I'm already going to be responsible for the lap band portion of the surgery.

I was wondering what the "stuck sensation" would feel like. I get panicky would it feel like choking?

I've trying to note how I eat my food and I definitely wolf or gulp down my food. I'm trying hard to begin chewing 25-30 times before swallowing but I'm not sure how long it will take for me to really develop this habit. I'm afraid after surgery I might hurt myself with this dang gulping but I'm guessing I'll only have to make that mistake once. Anyone had any experiences?? Due to have the band on August 23rd.

My cousin had the sleeve surgery about 2 years ago and used baby food when she was on soft foods. Did anyone do baby foods during the soft foods portion of the diet after surgery? If so, did they provide enough protein for an adult?

I have 60-65 lbs to lose and I'll be banded on August 23rd. This is definitely NOT the easy way out. I want a permanent solution. I lost 68 lbs two years ago but managed to put back on 40. I need something that will better assist with me not REGAINING. I'm committed to exercise I love running although I am slow but less weight hopefully faster! LOL

Thanks for the tips Maegan I'm making my list now. I'll have my band and hernia repair on August 23rd and I must say I'm scared to death! So many have complained about the pain, I'll be sure to do a lot of walking, pain meds and gas x strips! LOL

Can you not use appetite suppressants while waitin for your first fill?

My gosh I'll have a hiatal hernia repair and get my band on August 23rd. Do they offer pain meds? I was planning on returning to work the Monday after should I scratch those plans?
