  1. CentrixBeauti I'm not sure if flavored water is out but it seems carbonated anything is out. Of course I'm driving myself crazy reading all the horror stories related to the band, I'm sure it's normal to be concerned. I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing.
  2. So glad you made this post I was just about to post something similar. I'm scheduled to be banded in August but I'm concerned about failure rate, I definitely want my band to be a success. How do you avoid band slippage? I'm not sure if band erosion can be avoided?
  3. Wow WLS surgery is for lazy people, too funny. I run 4 miles per day 4-5 days per week in the searing heat in the afternoons or I'll get up at 3:30 am and run. I weigh 195 lbs and I'm 5 foot 1. Nope not lazy at all, need a better tool to get my body to respond to all my hard work. Do what you feel is best for you. Keeping the weight off is more than difficult for a lot of people.
  4. Speak with your physician about this. Sounds like the nurse had a built in prejudice. After my EGD the lady that wheeled me to my car so my husband could pick me up said I didn't need surgery just to pray and take it to God. Well I've prayed and with prayer and hard work I managed to go from 217 to 156 but sadly have gained 40 lbs back. I believe this opportunity to have Lap Band Surgery is a sign from God to get past this and move on to bigger and better things. Weight has consumed the last 20 years of my life and it's time to move on.
  5. I tried the EAS soy protein powder this morning mixed with pineapple juice and ice and it was hard to get down. Extremely chalky, after surgery I'll be limited to my shakes with just water and maybe ice. I think I'll stick to the powder from True Results no chalky taste at all.
  6. So happy all is well, wishing you a speedy recovery!
  7. Sounds like True Results is making it happen for a lot of people. I'll have my surgery as well via the Hiatal hernia repair and only $5500 out of pocket which True Results will finance. I'm not sure why insurers don't embrace weight loss surgery instead of a lifetime of high blood pressure meds, diabetic meds and a host of other obesity related meds.
  8. Took me a while to figure out how to get my ticker to show up, don't know exactly how I did it but it's there! Doing my happy snoopy dance!!
  9. Woohoo Congratulations!! Good luck on your surgery!!
  10. I am scheduled to have my band on August 23rd, seems so far away!
  11. Congratulations on your new journey. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
  12. I had my EGD done a couple of weeks ago at True Results in Houston. Very simple, I was diagnosed with a Hiatal Hernia and I'm now scheduled to have my band August 23rd. Good luck, there shouldn't be any pain or discomfort. Have a great one!
  13. My insurance does not cover weight loss surgery BUT they do cover Hiatal Hernias which I do have. I'm now being banded via my hernia surgery. My out of pocket will be $5500 which True Results will finance at $235 per month. I was turned down by Care Credit. You may want to try that option. Good luck to you.
  14. This good to know, I'll be banded in August and I thought you didn't get hungry directly after surgery. Trying to mentally prepare.
  15. I'd like to prepare for my August surgery by trying to make it on two Protein shakes and 1 meal per day which is pretty much what my pre-op diet will look like. I'm getting my lap band through True Results Houston and they gave me samples of their branded powders which are pretty tasty if I doctor them up which I won't be able to do post-op. Anyone have any Protein Powders that they recommend?? Your imput is greatly appreciated. Happy Sunday!
  16. Awesome, just fantastic what an inspiration!!
  17. This is good to know, I'm scheduled to have my surgery Aug. 23rd and I guess I'll be a walking fool until I'm able to start running again.
  18. Congratulations!!

Awesome, my surgery is August 23rd, can't get here fast enough. Hoping for a smooth recovery!!
  20. CONGRATULATIONS!! Be well and do well!
  21. All is set with my surgery and my portion will definitely be financed through True Results, now to start getting ready for my surgery date and following the pre-surgery diet to the letter. I want this to be a success story. I feel like August 23rd will be my second birthday, a new beginning!!
  22. Good Luck Sherry53, hoping all goes well with the insurance! Wishing you the best of luck
  23. It truly is, the weight has dominated too much of my life. I'm ready to move on to new things and not always have this wearing on me. Tired of the diet roller coaster, I've gone from my highest of 217 and managed to get myself down to 156 only to go back up to 195! All the while running at least 3-4 times per week. I finished two half marathons last year and gained weight while training for them! My problem is food and portion control, I need help getting a handle on it. I truly believe this is my chance and I'm taking it, taking back my life!
  24. I have a surgery date of August 23rd, hopefully all will go well on the financing portion. The majority will be covered by insurance that will pay for the Hernia Repair and I have to take care of the lap band portion. True Results is supposed to let me finance that portion at $266.42 for two years, if not then I may have to delay until January and up my FSA. Fingers crossed!
  25. I had my EDG on yesterday and I have do have the Hiatal Hernia, I'll have my band installed in conjunction with the Hernia repair. My portion is $5500 but I will be able to make payments to True Results. Waiting to see how soon I can get the surgery, shooting for September as I have a vacation planned in August. I also received pre-surgery instructions on yesterday. So hopeful, I am ready to conquer this hurdle!
