  1. Happy 34th Birthday Shellie2011!

  2. Happy 33rd Birthday Shellie2011!

  3. Court12, I'm just now heading to families to be around food, so idk yet, but hoping and praying it won't be too hard! And I'm no Dr, but I'm sure the yogurt won't kill u lol I know the guilt tries to nibble at u. But honestly that was some of the things on our liquid diet for 1st 2 weeks post op. Well only had to do clear liquids in hospital!. Anyway, Congrats and Merry Christmas :-)
  4. Your dr's recommended you take motrin or Aleve for the pain?? My drs give me a list of medicines they said I should never take again and both of them were on it. well any kind of NSAID was on the list. And I was so disappointed because Advil and Ibuprofen both fall into the same catagory and those are my go to meds to relieve pain. But I am too scared to take them because I was told they could cause band erosion. I'm finding it strange how all surgeons are different, you would think there would be a set standard of rules.
  5. I have been sleeping with a heating pad over my shoulder every night since the first night. So Weds, Thurs, and Fri and it does help so much! As long as I have the heating pad on my shoulder it has been, of course that doesnt help when u have to get up to do something. I have also been doing the gas-x chewables and I think they help, but I'm really undecided. But I do plan to keep taking them just in case they are helping! I also wanted to say, I am so glad that I found this site and only wish that I had found it sooner. everyone seems so nice and willing to help! Merry Christmas Everyone!
  6. Thanks MamaMary. I figured it would hold but was curious. Mine with the port site is still pretty sore but bearable. Although, I sneezed earlier and omgosh It hurt! Thanx again for the info and good luck on your weight loss

    Liquid Diet During The Holidays

I went and viewed your link! Lots of good ideas, thanks for sharing. I was curious as to your post op liquid diet? My surgeons told us 4oz 6 times a day and the hours inbetween to SIP an oz of Water every 15 minutes. I seen u posted 2oz as your limit. How often are you allowed this?

    Liquid Diet During The Holidays

The thing that will be worse for me, is my family always cooks a big meal for Christmas just like thanksgiving and I can't ask them not to cuz there will be like 15 or more other ppl there. Then when we leave my families, we go to my husbands families and they do the same. So I predict tomorrow will be a VERY LONG DAY lol

    Liquid Diet During The Holidays

I was just banded on the 20th so I will also be on a liquid diet Christmas. But I do have to say the liquid diet before was so much harder then after. I just wanna suggest if you have not found any Protein drinks or powders that you like yet, you might wanna start looking. The protein did wonders for helping me to stay full. The first few days on my liquid diet were really rough but by about the 3rd day I found some protein I could get down and it started helping me feel fuller. After trying many different kinds of the powders, I decided to try some from www.unjury.com and they tasted so much better then any other I had tried. I would mix a packet of chocolate carnation instant Breakfast with a scoop of the chocolate unjury protein and it was like having a glass of extra chocolaty milk lol but I would suggest also buying a Blender Bottle. it helps mix the Protein powder with your liquid without clumps. Hope this helps!! Good luck with your liquid diet and Surgery
  10. I had my surgery on the 20th and havent really had many problems, but I am right there with you Court. My drs said any liquids for the first two weeks were fine. Ours even lets us have pudding, yogurt or blenderized eggs. I have tried the pudding with a scoop of protein powder and no problems. Hope you get to feeling better soon
  11. That's great that your surgery went so well and you were able to leave so quickly! I am 4 days post op now. I had my surgery @ 9am and it was about 8:30pm before I could be released. They wanted to make sure I could keep the liquid down. But I was so ready to go home lol I see u had Dr Trace Curry. I hear he is excellent! I am just across the river in Ky. I was referred to Dr. Smith by a family member and he is great, but his office staff not so much and its hard to even get to speak to the dietician or get a call back if u need help. I wish I had done more research on my own. Anyway, Congratulations :-) and best of luck on your journey!
  12. Thanx for your post Lanie. I have 5 incisions. Mine range in size as well from about an inch to about 3 1/2 inches which I was surprised by...... Mine only had a dark looking glue over them though and no strips. We were told not to shower for 4 days post op so we didn't wash the glue off! Idk I've had several abdominal surgeries and that was a first for me.
  13. That's great! Good luck with your surgery and success afterwards! I am only 3 days post op. I was banded on Dec. 20th. First few days are rough, but I'm sure it gets better :-)

Day 2 Post Op - Help

I also got banded on the 20th, the first day I peed ALOT, I'm guessing all the IV fluids. I havent had any problem with peeing, but it is way less then would be considered normal most likely, but then I'm not taking in as much fluid I would have before. One thing I am still having problems with is pain in my left shoulder and a tightening in my chest. Others say that it is most likely still the gas trying to work its way, so I am praying that is the problem and it resolves soon. Good Luck to all the recently banded and continued luck to those who have been for a while! Hope you feel better soon.

    Why Lapband?

I chose to have the lapband for several reasons. First off my niece had it done April 2010 and has lost over 140lbs. Second was the risk involved with each surgery. The sleeve has cutting, stapling and rerouting of your body and theres a lot greater risk with that then with the band and if you have problems after getting banded its reversible, the sleeve is not.
