335 Calories?!?!
You should be reaching at least a normal 1200 calories a day. Now, when you excerise you are subtracting the amount of time you work out daily from the 1200 calories. Does that sound about right? How many calories are you getting in daily before you subtract from your exercise? Now depending on your plan your surgeon/nutrionist gave you to follow, what is the allowed calories daily?

My Mom Is Not Supporting My Decision
Because your Mother is a RN she should also know the consequences that comes along with being over 300 pounds. If you have tried and tried and you yo-yo most of your life, then something has to give. As a Mother she should be very concerned about her daughter and should be supportive in your decision. Surgeries, no matter how big or small can come with complications. Please, you can have your tonsils taken out and get a staph infection, its not just weight loss surgery. I got a total hip replaced years ago, I had my entire femur bone cut out, had my blood transfused back into me. I didn't choose to have this, it had to be done if I wanted to ever walk again. To answer your question, my family was very very supportive with my decison (especially my mother). why, because they thought my weight was killing me and was scared for my life... Best of luck to you in whatever decision you make,

I seriously can't wait to go shopping in my closet! I have tons of clothes that are new with tags. I think once I get under 300 I am going to start trying a few things on. I have so many different sizes,so I might be good when I drop 2-3 sizes. LOL. Congrats on your new findings

How Much Did U Lose First Week??
Yes, its normal and the reason is your body is still healing and it will heal up to 6 weeks. However, if you do not get your liquids in you can dehydrate yourself, and you don't want to do that! Get yourself some gatorade and keep yourself hydrated with plenty of Water. The gatorade will replenish any loss of electrolites and give you adequate potassium. You need to get in as much water as you can and remember not to gulp, go slowly but keep drinking all day. This is going to heal you much faster than what you think. You need to make sure you get that Protein too, that is very important. I don't know if you are doing protein yet but when you are able to get it in any way you can. Don't concentrate so much on the weight loss, but on healing. Everybody loses or even gains weight during this time. So it is important to focus on healing. Best of luck!

Losing At A Snails Pace!
Because now your body is in the 'lower' weight percentile you will lose slow. This seems to be very normal reading through the threads with people who are in the same boat as you are. I honestly think you are doing marvelous! Besides your calories, have you been tracking your fat grams? Remember fat burns fuel. I just had to pump mine up because I was eating less than 15 grams and for someone my size I should be eating anywhere between 25-30 daily. Yes, I believe you should go higher with your calories, maybe alternate the calories as a test, sometimes we have to trick our bodies in order to see any results. Maybe one day 1500 calories, then reduce it, etc..Can't hurt to try....

Carbohydrates?
Thank you everyone! I was worried I was eating too much a day. I am getting in good carbs from fresh fruits and whole wheat grains such as oatmeal, cheerios, and whole wheat bread. I have done away with white flour completely. The last few days I was hiting the 80 mark and was really worried. Then I realized I was drinking healthy juices I was making with carrots, apples, pears, and peaches. Not all at once. Like yesterday I had apple and carrots juiced. I also had to cut out other juices I was drinking from my diet, such as orange juice, apple juice, grape juice, and prune juice. They are all very high in carbs and I will drink them occassionaly.

Carbohydrates?
I have been tracking my carbohydrates for the past 2 weeks and noticed my intake is between 40-80 grams . I am wondering if this is too much? Anyone know what would be considered a good ideal carbohydrate index daily. I tried googling it, but it varies and its very confusing. Any insight would be helpful!

Embarassing Food Story...
At the age of 19, just 2 years of giving birth to my daughter I felt a lump on my breast. Of course I got really scared and nervous so I went to a doctor where then he told me to go to a specialist to have that lump checked out. Knowing I had to get up really early in the morning to do this, I went out with two of my best friends at a local bar and drank. Yes, I drank quite a bit and was home after the bar closed at 2am. When I got home I was really, no I mean reallly hungry but to drunk to cook. I noticed a large bag of pistachios sitting on the table. Oh, wow that was nice of hubby to bring them home. So, I sat down and ate them nuts like they were going out of style. I soon crawled in the bed fully dressed. Morning came and I woke up late, nooo really late! I only had time to do three things. Change underwear, brush teeth, and comb hair. As I sit in the doctors office waiting for the the doctor to come in, two of his assistance stood in the room with me. The doctor came in and asked me to remove my bra, which I did... To my horror, pistachios and shells fell as I lifted up my bra. The 2 nurse scurried out of the room and I was left with the doctor alone. I put my head down and cried of embarrassment. He didn't say anything, he handed me a tissue as I quickly tried to brush the stuck on shells from my breast. I could only imagine how I must of been the pun of the joke while put under while he did the biopsy. Yes, the overweight girl who had pistachios that fell from her bra. I know I will never forget, and I am sure they didn't either...

Introduction - Question About Lp - Wife Note Thrilled
Hi Steve, Welcome! Firstly, no weight loss surgery is foolish. If this was the case all of us would not have a weight problem. We are all in the same boat as you. We fought the good battle throughout our lives and now its time we take charge of our own bodies! You said it best, you have two small children who need their father around, your wife needs you around. People are bias when it comes to going under the knife when it comes to weight loss because they see us as failures, when indeed we still have to work hard at succeeding the weight to keep it off. NoOOO weight loss no matter what surgery you choose is going to be a miracle fix or cure. My own brother had gastric bypass, lost tons of weight, looked very ill and in a matter of 2 years gained every single pound back and then some. Well, I guess he found out the hard way that no matter what, bad habbits can come back if you don't take control. For so many of us, having the lapband is a personal reason and choice. If you keep reading through the threads, you will find tons and tons of success. You will read how hard many of us are putting into losing weight as well. You will work hard at it, and you will be proud of the work YOU done all by yourself to get there. Lastly, sit down with the wifey and explain to her about the procedures, both of your research all options together, get her involved, sometimes that helps the other perwson to understand better. Most importantly we are talking about your health! and for that very reason she should be 100% supportive and there for you! I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose to do! -Patty

2 Lbs A Week
ohhh 2lbs a week is fabulous! I had a week where I didn't lose anything. It seems to even itself out so far when you do the math. As long as you know you are doing everything right and if you have a setback, its not your fault and it will make itself up at the end of the month. It always appears that way.... Great job!!

Pain After Drinking
Hi Georgia, Your pouch will not stretch when drinking fluids only, it streams through the pouch. Are you drinking soon after eating? I had my surgery July 25th and can now drink water/fluids normally. However, there has been a few times I drank sooo much Water and it caused discomfort in my stomache, but it did go away. I was just mindful not to throw a picher of water down my throat all at once. I would deff. consult your surgeon about this if the pain persist and since you have an appt. just mention it to them. Just beware of how much you are drinking all at once and if you waiting your time after eating doing so. Let us know the outcome,
