Pain?
It sounds like you are experiencing heartburn. Have you tried chewing on tums? If so do you feel relief from it? If it continues contact your surgeon so he can prescribe you an antacid reducer. Don't worry, believe it or not many many newly banded people get heartburn right after lapband surgery. It does go away over time. You deff will want to discuss this with your surgeon, especially before getting a fill. Best of luck,

Weiging???
Ya know, this is a very touchy subject because so many bandsters have different point of views when it comes to the scale. Personally, I weigh in once a week. There isn't really a wrong or right way when you should get on the scale. Its what you feel comfortable doing. Keep in perspective when weighing yourself daily, the numbers will change too. So, you really have to be mentally ready to handle the highs and the lows. Now, I will also add that since you are 'newly' banded you should not be doing this. Your body now is going to take around 4-6 weeks to heal and is going through so many changes. Remember you have a brand new stomache now and your main focus is to 'heal'. Best of luck on your new journey,

Betty, your fellow band mates are right and it does sound like your band is tight. Deff. call asap so you can get some relief, a tight band is not good at all and can only lead to complications down the road.... Let us all know- Im In Deep!
Hi Irisheyes, I think the best thing you are doing for yourself is going back to your surgeon and tell him/her of your needs so that they can be met. You have a tool that is functional and in order for it to work you have to help it do its job. It works, and you will have to work with it in order for you to be successful with your weight loss. Motivation is different for all of us, there are so many reasons why people have weight loss surgery, but overall when it 'really' matters the most is that when we come to the realization how bad our weight has jeopardized our health, mobility, pretty much our entire functionality. For whatever reason we chose to have this surgery, we all can agree its because we want to live! I personally don't think you made a mistake at all, I believe you want to lose the weight very bad. Going to see a therapist would be a great idea, it may just shed some light on why you keep turning to food for comfort. Wishing you all the very best!- Sad Is All I Can Say
Your peers here tell you the truth. You are NOT guaranteed success in any weight loss surgery if you don't stay in control of your eating habbits now. Example: My very own brother had Gastric Bypass many years ago when at that time they pulled all of your intenstines out, disected, and placed them back inside. Yes, he lost tons of weight, very fast, looked very ill. Well, over a year into all that he gained every single pound plus! YOU on the other hand have a 'tool' that can actually help you not only to lose the weight, but to actually keep it off! You must go right back to basics. Since you moved you need to find a surgeon who is local. Set up an appointment and get help right away. You know it works, you see it works, YOU have to HELP it work! I wish you the best of luck,- Kickboxing, Band Stretching?
Missy is correct, my surgeon told me the same thing as we lose weight our stomache shrinks, thus the band does get loose.- I Wanted To Share...

OHH No! Please let us know the outcome of this (hugs)- Unfill For Convience????
Hey hon, yea that is a lot getting stuck that often. You poor thing! From what I understand; Are you taking very small bites and chewing till almost minced in your mouth? If you said yes, then chances are you are too tight and possibly need a small unfill. Don't suffer yourself anymore, get help and I am glad to hear you will be speaking to your surgeon about this. Let us know,- Unfill For Convience????
I really hope you bandsters who have fills can address this issue she is experiencing because honestly, I would be veryyy concerned if I were getting 'stuck' often. Have you spoke to your surgeon about the constant 'stuck' issues???- Unfill For Convience????
I am so glad I am banded for the up coming Holidays. My band will give me the help I am going to need so that I don't 'over' stuff myself. Yes, I will still enjoy the foods I love the only difference is I won't be eating plates of it. I am grateful I won't have that painful feeling of 'busting' out of my clothing and feeling sick afterwards after eating a holiday meal. Those things I will be greatful for. My eating habbits have changed drastically in such a small amount of time I have been banded, I look at food differently now and am extremely cautious of my food choices. Even though I had never had a fill, I still have restriction. I would never consider or even think of wanting an unfill just for my guilty pleasure, because at the end of the day, you would have to live with that guilt and thats one guilt I can do without...- New Me!
Its sooo exciting, isn't it!! I just broke under the 300 mark last week so I know the feeling! Keep up the good work, you are doing GREAT!- I Need Some Encouragement
Yup! I am pretty sure we all have second guessed ourselves. Its pretty normal to have these kinds of feelings. Thats just it, how many more times do we have to suffer dieting and failing before we just do it! If I had not went through with this, I am pretty sure I would of been 400 lbs, no seriously.... You are making the right choice if you have made it here- Breads ????
I eat mini whole wheat bagels toasted, whole wheat breads, and thomas' english muffins (all toasted) I am fine as long as its toasted. I like to keep my breads in the toaster oven and get it crunchy by just letting it cook a little longer. Whole wheat pita breads are great sliced in halfs and toasted. You should have no problems with eating toasted breads at all.- Back In The Er
Sending good vibes your way!!! Keep us posted...- Can Anyone Give Me An Example?
Hi Stephanie, I went to my 'loseit' app to my days so I could track 3 meals from my daily plan.... Breakfast: Calories: 204 / Protein 15.2 1 mini whole wheat bagel (toasted) (put 1 tsp butter on each side) 2 egg whites (make omlette style adding 1 tsp butter to non stick pan) Melt cheese inside and top 1/8 cup of shredded fat free cheese 3 tsp. smart balance lite butter Mid Morning snack: Calories 119/ protein 4.5 1 small apple (remove skin) 1/2 cup skim milk Lunch: Calories: 190/ protein 15.7 2 ounce tuna fish canned in Water drained 1 tbs. lite mayo 1/2 cup of mixed greens salad 1 tbs. rasins Mid lunch: Calories 50 / Protein 1.8 15 Pistachios Dinner: 204/Protein 15.1 4 oz. chicken dark meat without skin 1/4 cup of brocoli 1/2 small baked potatoe 2 tbs light sour cream (add dried chives for x flavor) Total: Calories 767/ Protein 52 ***Snack can be made up the balance with whatever you have left over - Make it light, could be ice pop, Jello, applesauce, fruit, sugar free drinks, etc.. (just make sure whatever the total is for the end of day make up the balance) You can download a free app called LOSEIT, this will help you tremendously with everything you eat. Let us know how this went for you, best of luck hon- Fallen Off Wagon
Hi Vicky, Don't give up on yourself, there could be a reason you are falling back into old habbits .. Have you any fills? Have you been getting 'stuck' eating foods? Are you PBing? Vomiting? If you answered yes to any of these your band could be too tight and you possibly need a small unfill. Although I have not had a fill, I can tell you from reading a lot on here that you fall into a typical catagory when someone experiences a tight band. Meaning, you will fall pray to eating 'slider' foods. This could lead to bad food choices and will sabatoge ones diet, losing weight. Now, if you are just falling back into 'bad' habbits with your food you can easily fix this yourself. Just keep in mind the very reason you had surgery done in the first place. Remember the band is NOT going to stop you from overeating, that is your job. I honestly beleive this is fixable! You still have a tool (your band), go back to basics, follow your nutrionist advice, and track everything you eat. I would even recommend talking to your nutrionist so that he/she can set you up with a food plan that fits your needs to get you back on track. Don't feel like a failure, you are not alone and I have read so many who share the same battles. There is nothing wrong with you, your a normal human being. Pick yourself up, start over a new leaf... Make tomorrow a brand new day! I know you can do it! Keep us posted on your progress.... ((hugs)) -Patty- Cauliflower Crust Pizza
