    Drinking alcohol ?

My doctor suggests a year without drinking at all. I personally have followed the rules regarding alcohol. I dont know what your doc recommends. I would stick with their plan. Im down 35 lbs and was banded Nov 5. Its not always easy, but its worth it when you see results! I wish you the best!
  2. I agree with the others, that you hear more about the failures. If the overall patient population failed, I don't believe the procedures would still be performed. I was banded Nov 5, and I'm down 30lbs. I am EXTREMELY pleased! I feel very positive about the band and plan on losing 40-50 more. I make better decisions when eating, and follow my docs instruction. I thought initially "how can I do this ?", but when the weight starts coming off, its motivating!

  4. Hello all, I am one wook out from having lap band with plication, and I feel really great! Some mild incisional pain, but even that is getting better! As I heal and life resumes to some level of normalcy, I see this is where some of the true challenges occur! I stopped by a birthday get together for a close friend of mine yesterday, and there was great smelling food everywhere! I did not eat any, of course, but I was mentally thinking about what it must taste like! I know...

  5. I had band with plication on Nov 5, and so far, so good! I did extensive research into it before I made decision. I am only 5 days out, so I am still on post op diet and still recovering, but that is going well. Better than I thought. I am purchasing a new scale TODAY because I truly don't know how much I have lost, but I lost about 16 total pre op! I think this was a good decision, and my doctor has done quite a bit of the band w/ plication and he encouraged me to research before I made final decision! I'm determined to make this work! You sacrifice too much time, money, energy, etc...

    Newly Banded

Hello Everyone, I had band with plication on Monday and so far so good. I list 17lbs pre op and I'm not sure how many post op yet. Its hard to get an accurate weight with all these monitors and IV polls attached! These clear liquids are all I really want at the moment. I really don't have an appetite right now! I feel very positive about this and I'm ready for a new lifestyle!
  7. I completely understand how you feel! I am drinking all my shakes and really want to comply! I But I think my body is adjusting because I feel a little light headed. I am not "hungry", but I can tell my body is not use to this. I feel like I "NEED" to eat some food! However, I am just going to tough it out. Know that if thousands of others went through this and were successful, you can do it too!

    The November 'band'wagon!

It sounds like you started your pre op liquid diet. Mine starts tomorrow, and Im a little worried . Stay encouraged! This phase will not last forever!

    The November 'band'wagon!

I'm on for Nov 5, and I can't wait! I have only1 week of full liquid diet to do pre op and I begin that on Oct 31! I know that can be difficult, but I'm ready for the challenge and ready for a new way of eating and living!

    The November 'band'wagon!

I'm early November and can't wait to get the show on the road! I have to get the routine pre open testing, and I'm good to go! (Lord willing!) I am getting excited because it has been quite the journey to get to this point. I am already cutting back and excercising. I'm ready for this lifestyle change!
  12. I am strongly considering plication, and am almost convinced that is the way I want to go. It sounds like it is very effective. I'm glad my doctor suggested it.

    Humiliated At Work Today! Omg!!!!!

That was an eye opener, she is NOT a true friend to disclose something told to her in confidence! I understand how you feel, but it may not seem as bad in the am. But,she was WRONG and I would tell her NOTHING else!

Consult With Surgeon - Not So Happy With Him - Help!?

That's odd. I would think he would be encouraging the band, instead of telling you about bad results. Is he one of those that prefers Gastric Bypass?

    Considering Lap Band

Hi Illuxi, I think what makes the band different is that you are somewhat forced to eat less. The ones I know that had it, get very ill when they eat too much.
