Hit Goal! 11 Months, Down 116 Pounds
You've done very well! When you first said you were a conductor, i was imagining a train LOL! Then I realized you are a music conductor after I read more. :-) Congrats on losing weight and feeling better. Who cares what the lady who did it the "hard way" thinks. You handled it very well. I probably would have just said something like "You lost weight? I had no idea!" LOL... Anyway, way to go!

Success But Not Without Challenges
Don't give up on trying to lose weight. You can break the stall with some new dedication.I also hate to waste food too. Since I had the sleeve about 7 weeks ago, I have noticed a strange habit of eating a small portion of food and putting the lettovers in the fridge because I hate to waste it. Then after a couple of days if I don't eat it, I will have to throw it out. It's actually kind of gross. I need to learn to either eat it later the day or throw it out as soon as I'm done eating. It is strange and I have never done that before. I have an issue with throwing food out too. I agree that you shouldn't be giving what's left to your hubby and you will have to just make a conscious effort not to do it. I know it's easier said than done.

Husband Down Plays My Wt Loss-Frustrated!
Bless your heart! I am sure he is insecure. I think he sees you losing weight and might even be a bit jealous. I am sure he doesn't want to be the fat spouse when you are done losing weight. You will be trim, and he won't. I think he probably felt secure as both of you being big and when you lose the weight, he will be the one people will notice as the big one. It could be other things too. I really hope it gets better for you both. I would be devastated if my husband weren't supportive. Have you tried telling him how you feel? Have you asked him why he doesn't seem supportive? I hope you can get it all figured out. And yes, we are here for you here!

Up'd My Calories And Lost 4 Pounds In 5 Days!
Congratulations! And I agree with doggz, that switching up calories is impotant in weight loss. Staying at the same calorie intake is probably not the best idea. Body builders do what they call calorie shifting. They eat strict usually mostly protein and then have a "cheat day" once a week to keep the metabolism working. Or some of them eat x amount of calories for a few days, and then eat more calories for a day, and then back and forth. It seems to work really well

Notice: 4 Year Old Lap Band Failure
Thanks for the post, CaptDerel! I did entertain getting the lap band very shortly when I first started researching weight loss surgeries but all of the erosion and slippage stories scared me into definitely getting the vertical sleeve. I hope that your acquaintance's Aunt gets well and recovers fine. I think a sleeve revision may be a good idea but only the doctor knows i guess.

Dr. Guillermo Alvarez On The Border Of Eagle Pass Texas/piedras Negras Mexican Border
Hi there. He is a very popular and well known talented surgeon. I personally didn't use him because of his price but if you have the money, he is worth any penny. I am sure you are going to get plenty of replies. On youtube, I've seen many people mention using Dr. Alvarez with much success.

3 Weeks Po And I Can Easily Eat 4 Oz Of Soft Foods?
Just try to stop eating before you get full. I am still having a little bit of trouble getting used to taking little bites. I have accidentally eaten big bites a few times and learned my lesson. I don't have a problem with stopping when I'm full. I can eat about half a chicken breast and a few green beans now.

For Those Who Aren't Shy--Tell Me About Boobs
I've seen some men's man boobs after surgery. They, too, look like they have droopy tits when it's over. I'm sure some men don't have that problem. As far as my boobs go, I wear a D/DD and when I lost a lot of weight before they were still a C/D. I am hoping that's where they will be when I'm done losing.

I Want To Understand!
It is such a personal choice. There are many reasons that some people don't want to tell everyone. We all have different people in our lives, different work places, different situations. Shouting it from the rooftops or only telling a few people, it is up to you! I think our own journeys are what we NEED them to be. I really don't think it matters how many people we tell. We are the ones who have to go to sleep and feel comfortable in our skin. No one else. I respect everyone's decision on who to tell and who not to tell. It's that easy :-)

The Scale Is Not Going Down :(
Remember they stuffed your body with IV fluids while you were in the hospital so it is actually quite common to weight a few pounds more right after surgery. Don't worry, it will start going down soon.

Getting Crazy About Ephedrine?
DO NOT USE EPHEDRINE. I took yellowjacket pills in the years of about 2000-2002 and was totally hooked on them because they contained ephedrine! it took me getting pregnant to stop using them! I was hooked on them and I'm VERY lucky that I didn't get heart problems or other issues. It caused me to feel cracked out, way hyper, and addictive. Trust me, it is NOT worth it! The weight loss from the sleeve is sufficient!

Secret
I told my parents and my husband and my older daughter. I am not sure if I should have told my parents now that I think about it. My Dad has been very supportive but I do worry if the surgery doesn't work for me, he will be judging me. He has worried about my weight as an adult and has even been rude a few times. He has gotten better about that now that he is older and knows how much it hurts me when he says things about it. I just worry if I don't lose all of the weight with my surgery that he is going to lay into me and give me hell. I hope I lose it all and don't have to hear anything negative. I only told them because I felt like they needed to know in case something happened. The other downfall is my stepmom, while she is a total darling and raised me from the time I was 4 years old, has a big mouth. I'm pretty sure she's told a few other family members, I know a fact she told one of them who is a well known gossip. Soooo be careful who you tell. I didn't want anyone else knowing and I know my mom told another family members so just be careful. I don't regret telling them but I do wish they would keep their mouths shut to others LOL. I also worry about my Dad judging me if for some reason the surgery doesn't do the job for me. It's a catch 22. But all in all, that is all I wanted to say :-). I only told a few people but if you tell a family member you can't be sure they won't tell a couple of other family members LOL.

Lightweights..how Long Before You Really Saw A Big Change?
Hey there lightweights. I know the weight loss is slower, It is a bit discouraging but I'm sticking with it. I am a month and a half out and have some weight loss but it's not a big enough change to really make it noticable yet. My clothes are fitting looser and I look a bit slimmer but nothing dramatic yet. How long before you went down a couple of pant sizes or lost enough to know you were really on the way to the newer, slimmer you?

Irrational Fear That This Won't Work!
I know how you feel. I'm a month and a half out and have lost some weight but it's not enough to see a "huge change" yet. I keep hoping and praying that I will get to a point and say "Wow, you have lost a LOT of weight!" So far, the changes are subtle and I keep wanting the time to fly and the weight to fall off :-). It's a work in progress, as they say.

13 Months Post Surgery (Sleeve) And Gaining Weight! Help! Am I Alone?
Yes you can do this! Go back to basics. Avoid high carb, highly sugary foods. Try to eat plenty of protein. Remember, it's a permanent lifestyle change. Even if you only walk 30 minutes a few days a week that will help. Don't lose hope.

Reached Doctor's Goal.....bittersweet.....
I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he recovers fully and gets the cancer gone. I know how it feels to have a loved one with cancer. Bless you and congrats on your weight loss.

Mexico surgery if your not to tired to share.
MirandaK, I stayed at the recovery house for the afternoon after surgery since I was alone. However, I was in a full recovery house with 4-5 beds in the room with me all taken. It was too crowded and too loud. Don't get me wrong, if I could sleep through lots of noise, I would have possibly stayed. It is nicely decorated and the staff is very polite. However, a loud car alarm, loud barking dogs, and being packed in with so many people caused me to leave to the hotel for the night. It is a BEAUTIFUL hotel and there is plenty of room to rest and relax. It is pretty quiet at the hotel. The following morning I went and had the leak test and passed it. If you pass your leak test, you can leave a full day early. I certainly left early and headed back to San Diego for some rest, relaxation, and even some sight seeing. Best wishes!!

Almost Passed Out ...........
So I stood up from laying on the couch about half an hour ago and I almost passed out. My legs almost gave out beneath me. I immediately thought of possible dehydration so i went and got a glass of water. I am getting fluids in fine but have realized that yesterday I must have drank more tea than water. I really think that I made a grave mitsake. I will not be drinking any more tea today. I felt better once I drank some water. I better stick to the crystal lite and water more than the tea. That scared the crap out of me.

No Weight Loss
It could just be a stall. Don't give up hope yet.
