    Before And "after" Pics

Cali; The pics are amazing, way to go. You look awesome.
  2. My surgery was Dec 12, 2011. I am 1 month post op and still from time to time have gas pains. They do go away I promise but as for how long it takes is different for each of us. It took about 4 days for mine to be gone from surgery, now it just depends on what I eat or drink. You just need to remember that your BODY has gone through a great ordeal and will take time to heal itself. Chin up it does get better. Congratulations on having Gastric Sleeve Surgery.

    1 Month Post-Op

Today marks 1 month to date Dec 12 - Jan 12, and I have lost 43lbs(337/298) and 9.75 inches. The last time I took any of my daily medicine (10 pills and 1 shot) was the day before surgery. The purple pill included (Nexium). I love reading what everyone else is going through because it does help me and some of it I can relate to. Thank you all for your important input sincerely. I am so thankful for all of you and your comments on this site. May God keep and bless you on your path to weight loss. Char

    Concerned

I have read a lot of the blogs and am wondering if I am doing things wrong because I have not stalled yet. I am 18 days post op and am still losing weight average about 1 to 2 lbs a day. What is wrong with me or the diet that I have not stalled? I weighted 341 when I started this journey, before surgery I lost about 14lbs just by changing how long it took to eat my meals. They didn't tell to diet before surgery just thought I better get in the habit of eating slower. Since my surgery I have gone from 337 to 305 another 32lbs down. I am trying to do all the right things but am having trouble getting all the protein in. I have been using shots of protein to make up for what I am not getting in the shakes. Could this be the cause of NOT stalling I wonder. I was told I could have soft purred foods at 2 weeks but they don't seem to light my new stomach at all. The food just lies there like a lump making me want to throw up. I have found that if I eat just 1 meal (an egg) and 2 shakes a day I feel much better. Is this wrong? I don't know. I don;t see much difference in my body shape, but I need a rope to keep my pants up lol. I did however manage to get into a size 26 pant compared to my 28's the other day, "Yeah" and my shirts are a bit loser so I guess that is a good sign. My health was the reason for taking this journey. I was and still am in bad shape. The best news ever was the fact that I no longer have to take insulin shots everyday and my blood sugars are in the normal range again ( low 100's ). I am still concerned that I have not been able to swallow any pills yet, as I do have meds that I should be taking. My blood pressure and moods have not yet improved much, but that is because I can't take those pills yet. Oh well step by step day by day with Jesus is all I can hope for right now. So much for my boo who;s today. May God bless and Keep us all healthy and continuing to lose in the New Year.

JMarshall I am in awe at the amount of weight you have lost in only 2 month way to go. I have lost as of today 34lbs, I agree every pound is truly a victory, I didn't put it on in a day and it won't come off in a day. (My moto is step by step day by day with Jesus, this is all I can hope for right now this minute.) I have not had any medication since 2 days before surgery. I was taking 7 pills a day plus a shot on insulin in the evening. I have NOT had ANY of my meds since surgery as they didn't want me to swallow any thing big. Thank you for your words of encouragement they really help.

    What Does This Mean?

I hate that feeling like it is right there in the throat ready to run up at any given minute. I was like the first few days then started spacing my meals (liquid shake) had am shake around 9 lunch shake at 2 and dinner shake at 7 and then late night hot coco Protein rich at around 11. Give some time between liquids so your new stomach can digest it all. You will not go to the bathroom as much until you can get more liquid down, but DON'T PUSH IT it will come. Your body has gone through so much and needs time to heal and adjust to your new stomach. The swelling will also go down in time just remember how much you have gone through. Normal is not always what everyone else has gone through we are all different, we all have had something like what you are going through. Don't worry about asking a ton of questions, that is way these boards were created, to give answers and make friends in the process. Hope all goes well at your doctor appointment, let them know of your concerns they are also there to help while going through your journey.
  13. I had my sleeve done on the 12th of December. My first week was all Protein shakes and protein Water, I was told to put protein in everything I drank. They also said no pills only liquid forms of them LOL couldn't find liquid forms for any of them but the pain pill that melts in your mouth. It is hard to get everything in so don't feel bad if you can't. My dr office wants 80-100oz of liquid a day and 90gm of protein I am lucky if I drink that much each of us are different but don't beat your self up if you can't get it all in. I found that the protein liquid drinks helped and then I found GNC had these little bottels of protein called protein shots they are wonderful for getting in that needed protein. Sip and sip and sip and sip some more is what worked for me getting the liquid in but it took a while. 2oz at a time at first. You should call your Doctors office and ask how much they want you to take in of each protein and water, I would also ask about the medication. Good luck on your journey and Happy losing.

    Rewriting The Old Lies.

You are not a failure. You did have the surgery after all, which is step one. Now you just need to change the old habits and ways of thinking. God and prayer are very strong tools in our lives, always there and never faltering. I prayed long and hard about what to do and the answers came, just give it a chance. Your prayers are herd and will be answered in God's time not ours. You can do anything through Christ and with Christ. I have a little moto I say all the time when things start going wrong it is Step by Step Day by Day with Jesus. I thank God for every day my feet hit the floor and I am alive. We all have the messed up thinking and it is very hard to give it up, so don't beat yourself up about it, ok. Think about the reasons you had the surgery done when the bad thoughts want to take over. It has helped me through the past 18 days. I had my surgery on the 12th of December and I to wanted real food before I should have it. I will keep you in prayer and in thoughts that God will continue His grace on you.
  15. I am only 17 days post op and have found that foods that didn't like me before surgery still don't like me. Tuna gives me heartburn so bad I wish I was dead. I have tried cracker dust and bread in soups and as long as I let them soak I care eat it. Most of the things that gave me heartburn before still do after so I stay away from them right now.

    Day 12 Post Op

It has been 12 days since surgery and am feeling fine. Can't believe I have gone from 337 to 307 in such a short time according to doctors office scale. A total of 30 lbs Woot Woot! Check up was great still have glue on all the openings so still no swimming or bath Doc said not until the glue comes off. But6 I can have mushies and thicker liquids YEAH! I have started mushies and boy it makes a difference I no longer have the hunger pains late at night thank goodness. Have breakfast at 9 lunch at 2 and dinner at 8 then just before bed have a hot coco with more protein. I am still only sleeping 4 hours on and off but that's ok. Going feather on my walks but don't have any clue to the distance, better buy a pedometer LOL Am amazed how well my blood sugar is doing it was in the high 200's and now am in normal ranges (108) am very happy no insulin since surgery. Protein intake is good about 90gm a day it's the water I can't seem to get the 100oz yet but am getting close. Here's to a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year 2012 Wish everyone the Best in their new life and the New Year
