To Tell Or Not To Tell....
When people ask me how I have lost so much weight I do share that I have had weight loss surgery. I am not ashamed and I am pround of my accomplishments. However, you do get a few snide remarks such as "oh you took the easy way out". I dont consider this any easier than losing weight by counting calories, etc. The surgery was hard, and eating still can be difficult. It is a matter of what you feel comfortable sharing.

Why Gain It Back?
There was a girl at work who had the lap band surgery the same time I had my surgery. The other day I was speaking to her about the success of her operation. I dont see much of a change in her. She said she wasnt losing the weight she wanted to and started resorting to taking diet pills. I was astonished, why have the surgery if you are going back to the same lifestyle as before. I believe that we become relaxed in our dietary consumptions and fell back into the same trap. For several weeks I found myself eating fat free sugar free fudge popsicles constantly. I didnt gain any weight but I had to ask myself, why? I had to rethink and reevaluate my eating habits. I dont want to gain the weight I have lost. I feel wonderful but I can see how it is easy to fall back into that trap. It will be a struggle, we are food addicts and we need to focus on what makes us want to eat and how we can redirect our atttention to other outlets.

Having Issues Drinking Water
Now at six months post op I can drink water without difficulty, however I still have days that it maynt agree with me. My NUT told me eat sugar free popsicles when I was having difficulty. One popsicles equals two ounces of water and they are pleasant to eat. Good Luck

The sugar free ice tea packets we add to our water, do the contain caffeine? I know we are not suppose to be drinking caffeine, not sure why, but do you think they are safe to use? I have been with no complications but I want to check.

Veteran Post-Op Participants...
Silly question... When you hit your target weight how do you maintain it? Is it eating more calories, higher fat content in food, etc? It seems now when I eat more I lose weight, go figure. There are some days I can eat more than say the day before when I can barely get down a couple of bites. Also, how do I figure what is a good weight to maintain? The doctor's office said 195 is my goal weight, I would still be considered overweight. However, it might be an ideal weight for me.

My Success In Hair Loss....
First I want to state this is my success and mayn't necessarily work for you.... !st important factor as we all know is Protein and plenty of it, if you have difficult eating your allotted amount as I do try various Protein drinks. I personally vomit all protein drinks except the unjury chicken flavor Protein powder. 2nd important factor is plenty of Water. It is important to stay hydrated throughout the day. That being said here is the formula I use every day. My only regret is not beginning sooner, like right after my surgery. Oh, and just a quick reminder, we average a loss of one hundred strands of hair a day, just an important fact to make you feel slightly better. Every morning and evening I take one Biotin 7500mg. I condition my hair with Nioxin every nite and shampoo twice a week with Nioxin. Sally Beauty's store sells Nioxin in a off brand called Nutri-ox, it works just as well and saves some money. Afterwards I use Doo Gro (found at Sally's Beauty), which is an ethnicity lotion that is used as an leave-in product (some of the ingredients are oat protein, shea butter, beeswax, etc.), combined with Argan oil treatment, use both sparingly. This combination has worked for me and may help one of you. Of course we all of varying opinions if any of these products really do work, however I can say honestly it has for me. Good Luck

I Just Can't Eat What I Know I Have To Eat To Break This Stall!
60 pds is a great weight loss, how about simply starting from the basics again? I think your sugar intake is hindering your weight loss, try more variety of protein as the other ladies have suggested and counting your calories. My thoughts are you have came this far and only gained five pounds back. You are doing great, keep up the good work.

Breakfast Troubles
Pre-op breakfast.... how about a protein shake with a yogurt, or an egg with cheese possibly with bacon or sausage, your goal is to eat plenty of protein throughout the day and get your daily intake of three servings of dairy products. I am post op but now is a good time to learn these healthy helpful guidelines which will help you in your journey after the surgery... Good luck

How Do You Appear... Young Or Old?
Since you have lost weight do you feel you look younger or older? Have you noticed more wrinkles appearing on your face? Several people say I have aged since my weight loss surgery. Maybe it is the fullness of our face that makes us look like we have a baby face. I even had a gentleman say my head appeared smaller. Then there is the question how you lost a shoe size or bra size? After 80 pds I still wear the same shoe size and wear the same bra size. These are questions I am pondering and would like your input.
