Hi pegs, Congrats on your surgery date. Mine is Dec 3rd I know what your mean about no support groups close. I am traveling 4 hrs to my surgeon and have no LapBand support groups in my area. As far as I know, Im the only one in the Texas panhandle that is having this kind of WLS. Thank God for websites like this. It has lots of great info! Good Luck! Hi Jeanette, Im in Amarillo...Texas panhandle..still pretty close! Im pre-band and have a schedule meet date 09-11-03 with Dr Ronnie Keith in OKC. It's closer for me to go to OKC than to Dallas, and no one in Lubbock does the band. Soooo here I am! Talk to you soon! Sunni

Hi wednesday! Thanks for replying to my post. I started researching the LapBand when I heard Ann Wilson had it done, I have been a huge fan of hers and have seen the results! I am so encouraged by reading everyone's stories. This is truly a family atmosphere! I love the idea of the surgery angels and the band buddies! I have United Healthcare EPO as my primary and Cigna Health for my secondary. I havent spoke with them yet, I see my primary physician on Monday to get all the paperwork started. I hope they cover the procedure and the fills

Hi everybody! Im Sunni, I live in the Texas panhandle and have been researching the Lap Band procedure for a few months now. I have 2 insurance companies, United Health Care as my primary and Cigna as my seconday. I feel pretty confident that they cover this, although I havent called them yet. I have a appt with my physician on Monday to get this ball rolling..I am having a very difficult time finding a surgeon closer than a 6-10 hr drive (Dallas, Houston ect) Is there anyone out there in my area that has been banded know of a closer surgeon?? Or have any support they can give me? Thanks to all who respond!
