Traveling... I Am Going On A Cruise 12 Weeks Post Op (Pre-Op Now)
Dooter replied to CraftyV's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In that amount of time I went from a loose 30w to a tight 22w...if that helps any? -
I've heard that is normal for a little while. I did not get that, but I've heard of many who have. it should go away with time.

Don't Want To Tell Anyone I'm Having The Surgery
Dooter replied to buffalogal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't tell anyone either. Only a select few. I just felt the desire to keep this to myself. I didn't want all the fanfare and spectacle. Now, however, when someone notices my loss and wants to know how I did it, I tell them I had surgery. I have no problem with it now. Before was a different story. That's not being a jerk. -
Traveling... I Am Going On A Cruise 12 Weeks Post Op (Pre-Op Now)
Dooter replied to CraftyV's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dunno...40 or 50? I think close to 50. But I started really high too. By then you should be able to eat a "little bit" of almost anything that is within your docs orders. (high protein, low fat, etc...) Just have fun on your cruise and try not to focus too much on all the food. Have one bite of dessert so you don't feel so left out. Just leave it at that. 12 weeks should be beyond all the break in phases. -
Started Soft Foods (Sleeved 5/17)..scared To Eat To Prevent Lbs Loss...
Dooter replied to itsmeloca's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Refusing to eat is not conducive to living. You don't wanna get dead!! K?? Your loss may take a temporary hit, but that is your body readjusting. Don't worry about it. Eat the food. Drink the water. Do the exercise and you will lose the weight. Sleevie makes it easier to do that. Do not refuse to eat. You need protein and calories and such to allow your heart to beat!! Be good girl. -

Bariessential Shakes Make Me Sick
Dooter replied to Singlemama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The reason Dr. Kim gives only two choices is for consistency. He used to allow choices but got too many varied results. He found these two to be the best for the results he wanted for the surgery. He is a perfectionist from what I can see and is very concerned for our safety. There is a reason and it's definitely not money. He gets plenty of that just being a surgeon. I asked the same question. -
Bariessential Shakes Make Me Sick
Dooter replied to Singlemama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ya, I'm with Dr. Kim too. The vanilla ones taste MUCH better than the chocolate. Our only option is BE and Optifast. Make use of the broth option. That will cut the monotony of the shakes. Also, you can add sugar free Torani syrups or sugar free Jello that has been mixed with a little bit of hot Water. (If you add the powder it get clumpy) -
I forgot to check in yesterday, but my goal is 11 lbs, and upping my workouts to 5/week. I've been to the gym every day this week and I've lost 3 pounds. Yay!

I Finally Found Out Why I'm Hesitant To Give Away Clothes That Are Too Large
Dooter replied to Catracks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HAHAHA that was awesome, wasn't it?? I was crackin' up! Anyway...I had to get rid of my bigger clothes, because, although like you, I liked the loose feeling of shrinking out of them, but when I looked in the mirror and saw the old clothes, I saw the old body. My eyes and brain were playing tricks on each other, and to see the change, I had to see different clothing. It just wasn't working for me mentally. We all have our weird ways of looking at these things. -
Does it have to be strawberry? I like orange....

LOVE all the new terminology I've learned here. Thanks ladies! Now...I seem to remember that there was some type of bone under all this mess years ago..... I'm hoping to find it again.... -
Well, I can't explain it entirely with any medical accuracy, but i know he used a piece of mesh to help with the repair that is absorbing over time. That mesh and the repair in general was probably the most painful part of healing. I had to use ALL of my prescribed pain meds for it (two weeks worth). That said...it wasn't THAT bad. I've been in worse pain before. Google it and find a picture. I think that helps me more than anything is seeing a picture. I'll try to attach one.... I think that opening where the stomach is popping through the muscle is sewn up and made smaller...

I Thought It Was Acid Reflux..now I Am In The Hospital :(

Praying for a simple fix! -
I was self pay in Dallas, and I already knew I had a hernia from a few years ago. He repaired it at no cost to me, but since i have other medical coverage, he billed them to see if they'd pay anything. He said if they didn't, it still would not cost me any extra. All I paid for was the sleeve surgery itself and the hospital.
