  1. They actually have a bench/bed thing which my aunt complained about, but to be honest she complains about everything! I did like the whole team, the drivers were great, speedy and on time. Everyone else was good too. The only thing I dismissed was the nutritionist. He seemed to focus more on fruits/yogurts/low calorie stuff instead of Protein. But since everyone here is so open about their diets I figured it wouldn't be too hard to find something that would work for me,
  2. I went to INT but we dropped into florence to pick someone up. INT is tiny, which is nice, only 7 patients to a floor. You have the nurses full attention. INT has nice nurses who are efficient and only poke once. It was sparkling. Florence was bigger, but not that big. A little less clean looking, but I am sure not less clean. I have heard iffy things about the nurse staff here. Some people have said that they can't find a vein or that they don't respond all the time. Also, INT staff was the same for each night and day. So you got comfy with a nurse. Hope this helps!
  3. I am one of the gals that 2bsmallagain was talking about. I am 20, just turned a few months ago, and currently a sophomore at UCSB. I have been fluffy for a very long time, and it just seems to get worse as time goes on. My family has a history of diabetes, heart conditions and weak bones. I have tried everything from nutri-system to juice fasts to hardcore gym sessions only to always gain it back. I knew that if I wanted to be able to have a family and be healthy and travel and enjoy my life that I needed to get this done. I didn't want to waste anymore of my time being unhealthy and unhappy when I see so many around me enjoying life. Ultimately, you have to decide for yourself. It is very tough but I think worth it. I would wait until summer to get it done though. I did mine, a week ago, during our spring break so I had time to recover. We will support you no matter what path you chose to take.
  4. I was told no bananas for the first 2 -3 months because it is clumpy and can get stuck or feel heavy/uncomfortable when we eat it. They did say I could freeze them and then blend them to get an ok consistency if I REALLY was craving them.
  5. Last night we went out to dinner and everyone ordered dessert. I figured sugar free popsicle is like a frozen juice treat so I had some of my mom's sorbet and even a bite of my sister's green tea ice cream. I felt bad about it, but then I realized I am getting in about 300 calories right now so I guess it was ok.
  6. Hi, I have posted about my experience already here: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/33782-i-have-been-sleeved/page__fromsearch__1 But I can give a quick recap. My surgery went super quickly! My video is only 29 minutes long! Dr. Ponce was great, he was attentive and even scolded his own team for not bringing me sleeping medication before 9 (once). The whole team was great too and I felt very comfortable. The hospital was super clean and small, which I liked. The nurses were the same day ones and the same night ones so you didn't get a stranger They found my veins super quickly and were very accommodating. My coordinator, Trish, was fantastic. She really went the extra mile to make sure I had everything I wanted. She brought my aunt food, she took us on a mini roadtrip, she took pictures for us. Honestly, she didn't have to do any of that but she did, So that was not so quick but if you have any questions about it, just ask me!
  7. Another alternative is a low fat or 2% lactose free milk. I have always been a little lactose intolerant so tend to buy it anyway.
  8. I haven't taken my pain meds since the day after surgery. I drove the fourth day out for about 3 hours! No problems!
  9. I find I can hold a lot of liquid too. But it makes sense to me after watching my contrast test. The Barium went right through the sleeve. So I guess it winds through our intestines and our bladder just holds it. As for the pain, Tattoodmom, could it be that you rolled over at night? I love sleeping on my stomach so I had to put pillows around me so I wouldn't go more than my side. I did roll over in my sleep the first night and woke up in so much pain! Or could it be gas that built up while you slept? Hope you find some relief!
  10. I am not quite one week out yet, 5 days, but I feel terrific. I have been doing G2, broth, water, tea, diluted juices, crystal light and some sugar free popsicles. I haven't been getting in enough liquids, about 36 - 40 oz a day but I am trying! I don't feel too tired or sleepy. I just feel a little gassy still -- not all the time but just when I drink something.
  11. Hey everyone! I had a quick question, I forgot to ask about sleeping pills! Would it be ok to take Unisom? If not now, less than a week out, when? Thanks!
  12. The drain freaked me out and I thought it was going to hurt. It didn't until the last day, but that was my fault I accidentally pulled on it. I was a big baby when the Dr. came in to take it out and was shocked at how pain-free it was. It was a strange feeling but definitely not painful. I had it in for two days.
  13. Forensikchic, I love your posts and have found them to be insightful. The point of a forum like this is to share our journeys and try to help and inspire others. Please don't stop commenting!
  14. I am the same age as you and decided that I needed the sleeve to move on and become healthy. I have tried everything from Atkins to Nutri-system to juice fasts since I was in 8th grade. Nothing ever kept the weight off. I also went to cycling twice a week and yoga twice a week so it wasn't like I just sat around. This decision is a hard one, so take your time. I just knew that I didn't want to spend another 20 years of my life unhappy and feeling like I was missing out on something. If I am like this now, what would happen when I had kids? My family has a history of Diabetes so I didn't want to let it get that far. Ir you read enough posts on here you will see that many people say they wish they had done this years ago and that no diet/exercise routine ever worked for them. You will figure it out soon Don't worry we will support you no matter what.
  15. My surgery was Thursday and I am feeling fantastic!
  16. I am sure they will, I didn't go to Kelly though so I am not 100%. I forgot to bring a hot Water bottle for my tummy so remember that! It would have helped so much with soreness. Bring some comfy pants so you can walk without flashing everyone like I did for he first day I hope all goes well for you!
  17. Hey everyone! I am feeling much better today! Just trying to get used to this funny gurgling that happens every time I drink something! I haven't had to much trouble keeping anything down or getting in my Water yet. I know I said I would post a video, but I can't seem to find the time! Trish got me a pedicure yesterday and today I am going to Rosarito and Ensenada to walk around the markets. Thanks everyone for all the support!
  18. Hey everyone! I have been MIA for a few days. I was busy getting sleeved Ponce de leon and Trish are amazing! I have to admit it was slightly more painful than I imagined -- really just the gas pains. When people mentioned gas pains I thought normal gas, like abdomen, but I was wrong. I woke up with terrible pain in my chest. I thought I was having a heart attack. Other than that, everything has gone well. I am in the hotel now and am relaxing. I still have some gas pains that nothing seems to be helping but oh well. Now time to nap!
  19. I think yes, but I am not 100% sure. Also, I feel a part of the pre-op is to get the patient ready for life with the sleeve. For the first few weeks food intake is verrrrrryyyy limited. Some people still have head hunger/real hunger and must resist. So I think it is important to get someone mentally ready.
  20. I am getting sleeved by him tomorrow. He runs about $5500. I hear he has promotionals sometimes. Eylish, I may run into you!
  21. YES! I have a Surgery BUDDDDDYYYY! I am getting my surgery done tomorrow too! Good luck
  22. Kayte, I have tried the positively radiant, but I am too oily for it. It might work well for you. I am currently using their Active Naturals moisturizer and I like it a lot.
  23. Kayte, have you tried Aveeno products? They are pretty pricey, but have never made my ultra acne prone sensitive break out!
  24. Oh this sucks!! I have majorly oily skin already, I live in a humid area and work in a kitchen so by the end of the day I look like a melted pot of oil I hope this doesn't get too bad!
  25. I wish, today I have finals. My surgery is tomorrow! So close!
