    Sushi

It is really nice. I went with a fellow sleever a few weeks ago and we ordered one roll and each ate 2 -3 pieces. It was so yummy and cheap

    Why Are/were You Fat?

From what I have seen there are two kinds of fat people: 1) Those who experienced something terrible and turn to food for comfort 2) Those that eat because they are so happy and they use it in a celebratory manner. So you are just the 2nd

    Why Are/were You Fat?

My life started out in a really great place. My dad was a retired Aerospace engineer turned Dentist and my mum stayed at home with us. When I was 7 he was diagnosed with cancer and died when I was 10. We all had to stand by and watch him fall apart not being able to do anything. My mom became an alcoholic after he died and my older brother pretty much avoided us at all costs. My mom married an abusive man who blew all my dad's life insurance policy on himself and then left her. I raised my younger sister it was hard doing all that at that age. When I was 13 my mom got arrested for assaulting an officer when she was drunk and making a scene. She continued to get DUIs and get arrested for years. I turned to food to make me feel better. I developed a passion for baking and cooking and learned how to cook well on a budget -- of whatever I could scrounge up from my brother and my part time after school jobs. So I guess it was just really emotions. I didn't want to burden my little girl with my problems, I was supposed to be the strong one who could handle it. So I ate my feelings and hid them from her. Luckily my mom just recently pushed a little too far and got mandatory rehab. She finally realized what she was doing to us. She was so supportive and loving but just not a mom -- she was like a really cool friend. She is 2 years sober now and I think I really needed that to deal with my issues and my problem with food.

    Hot Dogs?

I second the tofu dogs! They taste great, usually have more protein than normal hot dogs and have like 1/4 of the calories

    Pickles <3

I ate pickles pretty early out too. I craved them sooo much. I got the mini dill ones and ate maybe 1 a week or so. But my phases were pretty short too. So I was on soft foods by 4 weeks out.
  7. I started taking hair supplements four months before surgery still take them. I get in 80 grams of Protein a day and drink tons of Water. I take my Vitamins and all that stuff. I still lost hair. I am loosing about half a handful each shower, but I do have a lot anyway. I am not too worried about it because My hair is curly and can mask thinness very easily. I did chop it short so it didn't look stringy though.

    Support As A Facade ...

Something that I had to realize is that just because I am getting healthy and changing my life it doesn't mean that other people have to or even should. I would like my fiance to quit eating crap and work out but it is his choice. There is not point in being upset over it. If we lived together and I cooked I am sure he would eat it. But I can't expect him to become healthy just because I am. If he wants to eat hot dogs, let him. Soon enough you two will have to start cooking meals for everyone, I am sure they will be healthier, and he will have to eat them.
  9. I am sorry your day sucked. I know that feeling of looking like a big bag of clothes. All my nice plus sized clothes was too big the first time I went back to class and work. For your injections, were you on Depo? Or something similar. The same exact thing happened to me and I had non-stop spotting for about 2 months after it started again. It finally stopped after my new shot.
  10. I got a DVD of mine and it is really cool. I would have loved to have been awake and see Dr. Ponce's lapro technique. But I am also from a Med family and have seen/done it all. I do my own stitches lol

    Nightline "weigh Less Drink More"

I was just thinking about this! I went out last night and had a little too much to drink. To add to my hungover headache, I decided to weigh. Bad idea. I gained 2 pounds from last night. No more alcohol for me for a while.
  12. Elsa, Wow that is so soon! I hope you figure it out. Some people on here do there's taken out at the same time! It seems so much more convenient! The pain lasts for about 10 - 20 minutes right now. It usually occurs in the evening or nighttime. If I do end up going I guess I should just say that I am almost certain it is gallstones.

    Gallstones?

What is the typical time period for someone to have gallstones? I am only 4 months post op and I think I am starting to have attacks. :/
  14. I wore Jeans 3 days post op. I can't live without them! I tucked in a cami so that they wouldn't rub my incisions. But I wear jeans that hit right at my bellybutton or a little lower so it wasn't too bad.
  15. Congrats! It is a great feeling, I remember when I could finally squeeze into 18s. Good job!

Breyer's No Sugar, Low Fat Question.

You should know right away! When I eat sugar I kind of "dump" I have a hot flash and have to use the restroom within 10 minutes. That being said, I second the stay away from ice cream! Even if it is sugar free, sugar subs can make you crave it even more. I super regret eating sugar a month or two out because now I find it super hard to stay away from it. As others on here waited four or five months to try it and now find it too sweet. I wish that is how it was for me.

    Foster Children

Everyone is different but I had tons of energy by then. I was actually never tired after surgery at all. I would say to just prepare! Maybe cook some meals and freeze them before hand so you can just pop them in the oven.

    How Much Should I Lose?

I am between 5'5" and 5'6" and my goal weight is 140, which is still in the high BMI range for me. I would like to be around 25% body fat. Last time I got my body fat checked in a hydrostatic weighing system I was around 58% body fat. I am more concerned about body fat/size than weight. I would be totally ok with weighing 170 but being a 6. I have a super biker friend who is like that. Muscle weighs more!

    Muscle Loss

I aim for 80 a day at least. My doc told me the same thing as Foxbin's NUT did. I was told that once I hit more than a few months out I should plan on upping that if I go to the gym often.
  20. It is so odd how working out feels so good now.

  21. Some people suggest seeing someone to cope with those things and most that have insurance must do this before the surgery. Others, myself included, that did self pay didn't have to. I found myself struggling with emotional eating still and the feeling of guilt when I did eat "bad" things. I went to see a therapist here at UCSB and they helped a lot. Maybe you should consider it.
  22. Ok, more like "I". But still! I am, as of this morning, halfway to goal! In just under 4 months I have lost 60 pounds and have just 60 more to go! 60 seems so much more doable than the 120 I started at. Losing is certainly getting way harder than it was and I think I am really going to have to buckle down on what I eat and how often I work out! Just wanted to share with you guys and thank you all for always being here

    Tmi - Blood In Stools

I have had this, a month ago, I freaked out and went to the ER. It was just some blood from the toughness of my stool. I wasn't straining or having pain, but apparently it was still tearing. They just told me to keep it clean and it should heal up just fine. It did. I though there was a ton of blood as well, but then I though about how Water can make it appear that way. You may want to play it safe and go to a clinic or something. If you don't have insurance most clinics have a "sliding scale" donation. I have never donated though.

    Nutrient Counts

I don't low carb like tons on here do. It is mainly because I eat lots of dairy products, like Kefir, that have tons of carbs. I typically get no more than 50g a day, which is still "low carb" to "normal" people. You shouldn't have an easy time getting anywhere near that goal. I can't even eat half a piece of toast.
