  1. Where do the blasted fruit flies come from? When I choose my items at the store or farmers' market, I don't see any. Even if they're there (outdoors?), wouldn't they be shooed away when I'm handling the fruits and putting them into bags? How do they get into my kitchen? A day or two after I've placed the tomatoes, sweet peppers, bananas and whatall-else on the counter or table, one or two fruit flies materialize from nowhere. I really hope someone knows how this happens and how to stop it.

They are awful, it seems like once they get into your kitchen they stay there. They can breed in your kitchen drains as well as just on your fruit. A few tips are to wipe down your produce with a damp cloth when you bring it home, and rinse your drains out with white vinegar.

  4. Woohoo! Lost another pants size! NSV win!

  5. This time next week I'll be under the knife. My nerves are starting to set in and this liquid diet is not helping.

  6. Labs from last week came back... my vitamin levels are all good, and my protein indicator is acceptable, but could use to be higher, so need to focus more on protein. Rheumy labs came back with my markers slightly elevated, but not horrible. Overall, very good results.

  7. I'm not feeling well today. Stupid constipation! I emailed my WLS team to see if it's okay to take fiber supplements to prevent constipation. MoM is gross!

  10. Well. I did it. I mean I REALLY DID IT!!! Hot Chocolate 15k here in Chicago today. Had two buddies from HS at my side, as we cajoled and dragged each other to the finish line. An amazing feeling, really was!!! I could see this becoming addictive. There is one in Atlanta in January. Hmmmmm. But seriously. If I can, anyone can!!!

  14. Stepped on the scale this morning. For the first time since probably about 8th grade the first number was a "1". I cried, but it was a good cry. :)

  15. Had some of my preop evaluations today - dietician, exercise physiologist, and psychiatric evaluation. I am kind of nervous about the outcome of the psych eval. I have a lot of trauma in my past, and he asked a lot of questions about my drinking habits as a teenager. Nothing like dragging up painful memories with a stranger!

@Unbridled thank you so much for the support, it really means a lot to me. I know that all of this is for my own good. It's just a little unsettling diving into things that I have already worked so hard to overcome, and feeling like those things might be used against me in a way. It's good to know I'm not the only one though, and if you ever need to talk, I'm just a message away.

  16. Life is being lived!!!! Finding myself off line more and more because of it. Finding a purpose for yourself ( not talking about raising a family, etc) is not only enlightening, but exhilarating! Would love nothing more than to scream it from the rooftops.

Don't be anxious! When you are at goal, you will be glad that you recorded all of this journey. I seriously wish I had good comparison pictures of myself at my heaviest weight.
