  1. Wow! Thank you everyone who shared on this topic! I got banded December 14th and my first fill is January 11. My doctor didn't leave my band "empty" and I cannot eat the same amount of food that use to. Thank God! I can tell already that I am an emotional eater. Not news to me believe me! But I can see I need to really focus on behaving for this to work. It has to work because I have tried everything else and more. I do work out. This week was my first week back to the gym since being banded. I am walking. I realized this week I have to replace my time and energy that was devoted to overeating to something else. When watching TV I miss the food! When in my car when working I see all my favorite places to stop and have lunch but no more! So there are a lot of changes that are going on for me right. now. It is all good. I am a nurse and I believe strongly as long as there is still life there is hope. No one here has failed! It is all life's lessons and we have this tool and just as someone stated just get back on the "Band Wagon". BTW it is a Fabulous book!
  2. I received my lap band December 14 and I too have emotional eating issues. It is difficult to eat the amount of food that is prescribed. My first fill is on January 11. It has been a struggle since stopping liquids. But I am back on track but everyday I am reminded how much I use to eat. I am excited about this journey and ready to overcome the need to stuff myself.

Congratulations on your weight loss! I am glad you have had no regrets. I had my lap band surgery 12/14/11. I feel terrific and so far 10 lb loss.
  5. Such awesome news. I love the fact that your legs and feet are not bothering you any longer. That is one of my issues too. Congratulations on your weight loss and people are noticing. My surgery was 12/14/11. I am feeling fantastic! On my scale 10 lbs gone!
  6. Wow you advanced your diet and you are okay. I am 4 days post op. 12/14/11 was my surgery date. I am tired of all the liquids too. I have had no nausea either. I see my doctor on Tuesday. Hoping to advance my diet. I feel great. No pain medication today. I also have some left shoulder discomfort but nothing terrible. You are an inspiration.
  7. I will be going to Disneyland in April. Good suggestions!
  8. I hope you heal fast and have no further problems. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am new to the band too. Mine was put in Dec 14. So far everything is great! Very little pain and I am the liquid diet right now.

  13. I am home! Out of surgery and everything is fine. I am so relieved it is over. I am drinking clear liquids every hour and so far so good! Keep you all posted how things are going. Feeling great. A little gas but I burp and the pain is relieved. A little discomfort. Will take the pain medication before bed tonight.
  14. Bandwagon is a book. I ordered off Amazon.com. It wasn't in my local bookstore. I heard about the book in another blog. Bandwagon; strategies for success with the adjustable band. by Jean McMillan

Hi Adanna, Thank you for sharing your experiences. I am getting my band tomorrow. I have only been on the "pre op diet 3 days", because I had to change doctors and the new doctor was able to do the surgery in December. Your doing so well! Weight loss does take time. Changing habits take time. I have lost this weight 3 or 4 times. The last time was doing weight lifting and dieting. 12 to 14 years ago I was 20 lbs from goal. I am doing the band for the "full" feeling. I don't get full. I don't eat fried or fast food very often if at all. But I do overeat and I have some injuries so the gym has been really hard 110 lbs overweight! I hope to hear more of your journey! Pamela
  17. Hi Everyone. I am scheduled on December 14th. Really excited. Kind of nervous too but I am excited to start the new year with a wonderful tool to help me get to my goal. I plan to follow the rules. I just have been following the blogs and posts that are positive and getting lots of great information how to prepare and what are the good books to read. I ordered BANDWAGON and I hope it arrives before my surgery. I am attending the "Biggest Loser" finale tomorrow. I will be at the live taping. I really exited about that! My sister's gift to me. I went to the Biggest Loser resort this year. It about killed me. Then in the middle of this year I got heel spur. It is just this darn weight. I am just so excited to get down 10%. I will be feeling so much better. On this pre op diet I am already losing. I have no doubt I will be at goal or very near goal in 1 year!!! Good luck to every December 2011 Bandsters!
  18. I am going to be banded on Wednesday. Have you tried Organic Chicken broth and Miso soup. Those are clear liquids and have plenty of protein which should help stop the hunger pains. Hopefully.
  19. Hi Scott. So glad you recovered well. How very scary that this happened. It is wonderful that you and your wife are losing weight together. Keep up the good work and be proud of the success that you had so far.
  20. I am asking my doctor tomorrow what vitamins to get. I now take vitamin D with calcium and that is one huge pill. For sure I will not be able to swallow it! I recommend if the vitamins are adding up to over 100 calories find out at your gym if you go to one what your daily calorie burn is before exercise and perhaps you are eating fewer calories than what you are burning daily and you will continue to lose weight even before you exercise.
  21. Congratulations!! You must be feeling so much better.

You are doing great! I think it takes a while for the body to adjust everything that has happened and the weight will come off. My surgery is next Wednesday.
