  1. I was banded on 1/13. My parents came up to Houston to "take care of me" while I recovered. My mother was here the night before and stayed until saturday, thn my dad came up on saturday and stayed until the following tuesday (my parents have been divorced for over 20 years now). My mom was kind enough to go to a resturant to eat her meals while she was here. MY dad on the other hand, whom I love dearly, rolled in with an ice chest of food for himself, fully stocked including ruffles potato chips and oreos! MY dad made hot dogs with chips, hamburger patties with mashed potatoes, ordered chinese, made blts, (my dad is a really good cook!) and topped it off every night with a large glass ofmilk and cookies! All while I am sitting on the couch sipping broth or protein shakes or eating sugar free popsicles. I have never missed food more in my life than I did those few days he was here!I never wanted to hurt someone so much over an eggroll! Fortunately, I knew he would get on to me if I had any of that stuff but was worse is that HE LEFT IT ALL WHEN HE LEFT so that he can eat the chips and cookies when he comes back in 2 weeks!!! IT is all sitting in my kitchen cabinets and refrigerator for me to look at everyday. I feel your pain, and Im right there with you!
  2. I had my surgery on 1/13 with Dr Hollis as well so therefore I am 9 days post op and am in to the "thicker liquids". I don't know about restriction but I can tell you the liquids (soup included) go down with nooo problem. Thank you so much for this posting though because i thought from day 1 i would feel some restriction. I appreciate knowing that I'm not the only one who has the feeling of being hungry all the time.
  3. Thank you so much for all the warm welcomes! Lapband guru, I actually have some of those spandex knickers!!! LOL, Michelle, thanks for the info, I will have to look into that, and backto me, I am so thankful to have someone to kind of go through the whole process with who is pretty much in the same place I am. I wish you all the best of luck and thanks again!

  5. Hey everyone, new to this site. Two words to describe me and my life.....Bridget Jones!! If you have ever seen the movie, I promise that is exactly my life to a tee. Always have the best of intentions but something always goes wrong!! Anyways, my name is Kerri, I'm 32, no kids, not married, 2 dogs. I am an RN and spend my days helping families and patients deal with terminal illnesses, go through the grieving process, and learn to not let it rule their lives. I was going to have the sleeve in Mexico, but chickened out on both Mexico and the sleeve and after some careful deliberation decided the lap band is more for me. Just looking for some great friends and lots of support. I recently moved to Houston, no family here and don't really know anyone. Can't wait to meet every one of you!! Thanks for reading! (and if you have any tips please send them my way!)
