  1. Your husband is suffering from depression and needs individual therapy too. He may need to see a psychiatrist for some medicine to help with the chemical imbalance in his head. Some people have to look at things and decide if it's a deal breaker or not. Hope you are talking about this with the therapist.
  2. Hmm I was told by my bariatric doc that we can't stretch our sleeve. I would suggest that you go back to basics of protein. U might look for LilMissDiva's basic Bootcamp in god and nutrition. You can get back on track and lose the 30 lbs.
  3. I love the way u sum this up. In a support group we need people who will confront others to help them get back in track. There are all kinds of people that are either supportive or challenging just like in our communities. It would be more productive if the person confronting dies it in a loving caring way. IMO
  4. What about protein shakes? I would call them and clarify what types and the portion size. U can do this.
  5. This is a pattern for almost all of us. I get on the scale one day and it says I've lost then the next day I weight more. But I lost a lot of weight and inches and wear a size 6 or 8 pants and can wear. A small or medium blouse. Love it.
  6. Are u taking a PPI? Like Prilosec or nexium. Acid un the stomach mimics hunger and can help. I also agree with upping the protein and staying away from carbs. No sugar and work on head hunger. Congrats u are doing awesome.
  7. You may want to take a PPI (prilosec, nexium, ect). Salads don't really do anything to me, I don't feel full so I any eat a couple of bites. Besides the dressing is high in calories. Eat protein first to fill up....that's my golden rule always.....it does help......
  8. I have a fluctuation in my weight. One day it's at 143 and the next day it could be 147lbs. So frustrating. Your 7 lbs is most likely fluid retention. But to be on the safe side, call your surgeon's office and run it by them. It doe pay off to be proactive.
  9. I love that you set a boundary with your mom.......Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy! She will come around and she will see your happiness and the positive changes in you. Your right, she is scared and she doesn't know that this is the safer procedure out of all the wls. Plus it's permanent...... Keep movin forward to a healthier life style.......
  10. I also have Kaiser and I am able to email my NUT and case worker within the bariatric department. I had a pain in my left side and still get the pain when I get really full. I had an endoscopy and everything was normal. I had my gallbladder removed and everything was normal. There was some scar tissue where they pulled the stomach out on the left incision site. It's not bad, I just have to not eat too much. Sometimes I do get diarrhea, but my diet is mostly protein with a little veggies. I do know that when I eat too much fat I do have difficulties with diarrhea. Go see you PCP and ask for a referral to the bariatric department for follow up. Go back to basics and see if things change. I have been eating basically protein and was doing the basics and it helped me drop about 4 lbs.
  11. This has been really easy for me. I was well educated about what to expect after the surgery and I don't find it hard to take my vitamin and getting in my protein. Now water is a different story. I do have to work at getting my water in. It is a struggle at first but it does get easier. The sleeve is just a tool, nothing else. I couldn't lose the weight before and keep it off, now today I'm down to my lowest of 140.8. Yahoooooooooooooo! Love my sleeve and for me, it's easy........
  12. Just go to your PCP. He/she will help you.......or the ER.....
  13. I have a mirena and it has not effected my weight loss at all..... I don't believe the mirena will affect you, it's just the normal losing cycle we've all gone through..... You will have the 3 week stall and during that time, you will be losing inches.... CONGRATS! Sit back and enjoy your ride now.
  14. I have done that a lot.....Now I call a friend or a family member, take a walk, or just get busy doing something. You are on the right path by seeing a professional therapist that can help you adapt healthier coping skills.
  15. This is the scariest part of this whole process. We've all been in your shoes and have felt the excitement and the fear at the same time. It will come and go in waves. Try to keep yourself busy for the next few days so your not focusing on it. Clean your house, talk with friends and family just keep as busy as possible....Time will go fast and soon you're be sitting next to us on the BIG LOSER'S BENCH worrying about stalls etc.....Can't wait to hear your journey that's soon to come.
  16. My trigger foods are candy. i don't buy it anymore but my head hunger can do quite a number on me. i too choose not to have foods with carbs in my house. My new addiction is Quest Protein bars now and I realize that they have a lot of carbs in them. So when I'm finished with the protein bars that I ordered, I won't be buying anymore...... But on a good note, i love my body and I am so much more healthier now....I love my clothes and only buy the clothes that I absolutely love......No more being satisfied with what's on the clearance racks...
  17. Don't give into eating sweets. It is habit and your mind will sabotage your weight loss. Try to eat proteins first and then veggies. I know that I am addicted to Quest Protein bars even though it's a protein bar, I can still gain weight on it. So I am working on getting it out of my house..... Get all the sweets out of the house and purposely avoid the grocery isles that have unhealthy foods and candy. you and still gain weight on SF stuff too. In fact it can make the craving for sweets even stronger. Plus the sugar alcohols can give you really bad gas....
  18. A NUT can help by discussing food choices but they can't help with the choices that you chose to eat. This would be a good time to seek a therapist that specializes in bariatric weight loss. This is your thought processes and the inability to control the impulse to eat poor choices in food. Go back to basics and eat protein, protein, and protein and some veggies. Detox from the carbs. Look up LilMissDiva's Basic Bootcamp, it is posted here under food and diet I believe. You can do this and the weight will start to come off........
  19. You are so lucky to not have skin problems..... Good job!
  20. I've had no regrets. I haven't had any complications bc I followed all my doc's directions and took good care of myself.
  21. This makes me so mad. This is so stupid too. Go to a different PCP if u can he/she will give u a referral just by ur records.
  22. I had surgery on Oct 4, 2011 and I'm doing great. I'm pretty much at my goal and working on issues relating to head hunger.... I love my sleeve...I have had no complications at all and my Doc used a size 34 bougie.
  23. Can you call your NUT or surgeon's office? You might try going back to basics of protein, protein, and protein. However, you have lost about 100 lbs so congrats! That's a big success. Weight loss does slow down after the 6 month mark. Have your eating habits slipped and your eating more carbs? Reevaluate diet and eat dense proteins. Sometimes I feel really hungry too but It's not hunger, it's my head hunger. Let us know how your doing.
  24. Those are not very good reasons for not planning. I say, just do it. Others opinion don't really matter when it comes to your health and happiness. This is a life changing procedure and I doubt that you will regret it.....
