  3. I have been sleeved since December 2011. I had a pretty normal recovery however my doctor says I am just a very sensitive little girl. I have had since day one that gurgling or burping sound anytime I drank or ate anything. I spoke with my doctor about it. He said it is weird but normal. He said it will soon go away. So I am thinking okay soon means like a few weeks to a couple months. Well it did start to go away. It stopped after I drank but still happens when I eat. I am still doing it only after I eat. It is slowly but surely going away. I dont do it all the time. Mostly when I eat to much or to fast. I dont think it means that when you start to do it to stop eating. I think that it means we should eat slower to let the food pass down to our stomachs. I have learned to live with it but it will go away almost totally if I stay patient and I am sure it will for you too. Remember I am a "very sensitive little girl" per my doctor so everything takes much longer for me to get over. May start to see it go away a lot sooner for you if it has not done so already. I wish you all the luck.
  4. Hi newbie here~ So, I have been working for my company about a total of 3 yrs. I left and came back so I have been back for almost 1 year. When I am going to have surgery I will be a little less then 1 month till my 1 year anniversary. So, I really don't want to tell my job what I am doing exactly. I think all they really need to know is that I am going in for surgery and I will not be able to work for a couple weeks. I am self pay so its not like they have to know for insurance purposes. I know that if I were to give them like a Dr.s note with my Dr.s name on it they are gonna know exactly what is going on. I think that it is personal and I think that we should be able to keep somethings personal. No one knows I will be going in for VSG and I want to keep it that way. At my job if one person knows everyone knows within the day. I don't have any more vacation days as I used it for my fathers visit earlier this year. I see him once a year if that b/c he is in another country. So PTO days is out. I am kinda stuck and wanted some advise. HELP Please! Thank you.
  5. Hello all~ So, I just had a question as to what you think the effects could be if I were to go straight to soft foods but mash them really well in my mouth before swallowing. I am having a hard time keeping things down b/c of nausea. I have only been able to keep down like starchy things nothing really Protein. I have heard of some people skipping the puree diet and going to soft foods. I wanted to know if anyone had done that and what is the worst that could happen. I have anti nausea pills that I still cant keep down as well. I need to transition soon. Just wanted suggestions. Thank you all...

Has Anyone Skipped The Puree Diet?

Well that definitely gives me confidence that everything should be okay since you are doing well. Nothing happened to your sleeve. Thanks
  7. I have been on the liquid diet for like 4 days. Of course it feels like forever ago. I was fortunate to only have to do the liquid diet for one week before surgery. So, surgery is on Friday and it feels like a long way away. I have had many thoughts of cheating. Like just a piece of chicken something of substance. I am hating the protein shakes I cannot seem to find one that I like. I have tried to mix with everything and even tried the Isopure drinks. I am so weak and I know I am not getting enough protein and all I can think about is wanting something of substance to eat. Has anyone cheated on the pre op diet? And if so what happened?
  8. I was at my consult for the VSG and the dr said that was qualified for the STARR treatment. Has anyone heard of this or has anyone had it done? He said it was fairly new to him. It is supposed to be one incision in the belly button instead of 5 across the stomach. Supposed to heal faster and less painful. I was just researching and wanted personal feedback instead of statistics from them. I appreciate everything Sleevers! You all have helped me actually decide to go with the Sleeve instead of Band and I appreciate it. I hope that I can become one of the family through my process of completion and after. Thank you again! Stephanie

FLMA or Leave of Absence question?

I thought of that but then didn't know if it would work so maybe I will try that. Thank you so very much!

Has anyone heard of STARR Treatment?

Thanks guys I will look more into it. My mother had a HYSTERECTOMY and they did the 5 incisions. She said that her scars are pretty much gone nothing to see. But she also wishes she could have had the option to have just one scar to worry about.

Has anyone heard of STARR Treatment?

Thank you so much for the reply...I was beginning to think no one knew about it. I am gonna get that and then I should be able to tell everyone about it afterwards. Hopefully it is better.

    New Member Researching and Deciding

Thank you so much for all the great advise...I have actually made my decision. I slept on it and thought about it more and I am extremely happy with my decision. Only problem now I have to find the time to have the surgery. I am hoping maybe around Dec - Jan while school is out. I don't know how I would possibly juggle school, work, and family and sleeve. Wow to all of those that did you are my hero. I will make the necessary calls and just get it done! Thank you I appreciate it!
  13. Hello all~ I am so happy to have found a place to talk about the VSG surgery. When I was first researching VSG and Lap-band I was always leaning towards the VSG. I am glad that as each day goes by I am learning more about it and that I am almost to the point were I can make the decision to set that appointment up for surgery. I however do have some reserves about it and still in the back of my mind the idea of which to chose is there. I am hoping that speaking with everyone here I can overcome all the reserves I might have and get some solid answers from those who have actually been through it all. So let me start by saying thank you to all of those that help me in my journey to a healthier life. So a little about me...I am just 26 yrs old and I am about 50-60 lbs over my ideal weight goal. I was in an accident a little over a year ago and am on strict orders to not do any strenuous exercising as it could make it worse. However I was also advised from doctors I will never be the same again. I have major back issues that I cannot now bend over very fast if at all. I don't sleep at night b/c I am in agonizing pain all day long. I take approximately 10-14 pills a day to try and subside some of the pain so I can try to live a normal life. I am hoping that significant weight loss might alleviate a lot of the weight off my back and I could start to do more and possibly get my back to the way it should be. I am 26 and I think I should be able to go to the theme parks and have fun I think I should be able to bend over and pick up things off the floor. I should be able to carry my baby in my arms and pick him/her up with somewhat ease. I hope to some day have a child but with the constant pain I don't think it to be wise. I shouldn't be in this much pain everyday. I spoke with my Dr. Domkowski in Sebastian FL at Riverside Surgical and Weight loss Center. He is a wonderful Dr. He doesn't try to rush you into anything He is very thorough and helpful. Very personable. He answered all of our questions gave all kinds of suggestions and options. I feel very comfortable with him as my Dr for surgery. He is the one who actually referred me to this site for support. My reserves about the sleeve is I have heard of something called leaking but I have not actually heard anyone I know who has had that issue. I wonder how probable it is to happen if I have never heard it. Also, my Dr. said that I was not required to exercise as that is not a possibility not only with the busy schedules that we all have but the inability to do anything strenuous. I do walk occasionally when I have time. Is it really imperative to exercise? I know it is always better for your overall health but I heard that it was not what actually determines weight loss. It is what you put in your mouth and how much. And what about after you lose the weight does everyone have to get plastic surgery later or will the skin just go away? If so is there some secret to help it tighten up at all or is it just inevitable? Again, thank you everyone for the support and help. Stephanie
