  1. From my all time high 90 lbs. since banding 70. Cannot imagine going back to being so tired. Left items at bottom of stairs for hours to make fewest trips up. Clear now
  2. Hard to navigate the new app. Happy to be in this eclectic funny group
  3. I so agree with the last post. I consider a fill and then my band gets irritated and I know I can't overfill or... Disaster for days. So I go along and I do not overdo it. It just acts up for sometimes no reason. And it's close to 8 years and I still look here for answers. Thanks
  4. Flying seems to irritate me for a day. Anyone else have problems with pressure and altitude?
  5. Love to read stories on this site. Such a journey On and on. Almost 8 years and trying to maintain. Not fighting the band Loss of my husband just put me in a hard place. And no food coping. Lots of crying. Trying to just keep moving on
  6. Thanks Ava Didn't know you could substitute soy paper for seaweed. Seaweed sticks for me so I haven't been having sushi. Something to look forward to
  7. What a difference love to smile! You must feel so much better You look happy and healthy!!
  8. Eggs work a lot of ways. I happen to like tofu in soups. Lots of protein and little calories. Lately quinoa has been on my list. One of the few grains with protein. Good luck and keep us posted!
  9. Great price. Cute dress, but the neckline needs something. Fool around with a belt. Hair down. Jewelry. ...I think for $20 you can keep in your wardrobe Everyone needs a black dress. Church or wedding or funeral Gotta have one. A shawl might make it look younger ... Like you????
  10. I believe you look just how you should. Healthy. Happy. "Normal" size. Whatever that is to us! I don't believe I will hit a doctors ideal goal for me... But I am healthy and fit and very satisfied to stay the same size for years. To me, that is the crux of all the years of work and maintaining and exercising ..... And making good choices for food and lifestyle! It is rare almost 8 years later to look way back and think of myself as JUMBO. Not my image of myself anymore. Hope others see themselves differently... It truly helps my head and self image issues. Hope it does for them too. Rear view window for that old size and look. Pictures ( I always have an old one with me) tell me how far I am
  11. I also save a lot of $$ on groceries . But really what my WLS saved me was time. All the shopping, preparing, cooking, cleaning I think it cleared a shelf in my brain that all that food chatter and thoughts took up I now find much more free time that does not revolve around food I am thankful
  12. JWM I so agree about the support group. I find them so inspirational! No lap banders in my group yet tho 2 have signed up. I'm thinking I was all brave though nervous before surgery. And thrilled to be on the other side. Have not regretted it for a day. And it has been years and years. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Good luck
  13. BFeeling the same. Glad for a new quiet month Return to better habits.
  14. Congrats! That is a great first step. The best news is that the lost pounds don't come back. Along with more..... Just keep on the right path and you can have an outstanding year. 60 is gonna look good to and on you!!
  15. Happy Labor Day weekend! Happy bander with a few days off. Plan to ride my bike a bit perhaps a walk to see begonias. Just FUN STUFF Please keep this thread going. It is very inspirational.... Especially because the "magic" from 1-2 years out is wonderful But us long term banders need each other as we travel this journey for years and years. Thanks
  16. Welcome to our chatter! I have found this site to be so helpful and supportive. Best of luck to you for changing your life. I'm 59 too and it was the best thing I ever did getting banded. Keep us posted.
  17. You realize the food industry is masterful at selling. As is the diet business. You can just ignore i all of it easily You're happy to see pictures of yourself instead of hiding From the camera for years
  18. Congrats on your decision to change your life. There is lots of advice from us veterans ... please feel free to ask. I would do my lap band surgery again in a quick minute. Changed my life, my body , my attitude , my health. Best of luck
  19. My two cents is WLS changes the body in a lot of ways. I don't believe we can use "average" charts for weight loss, especially years out. I have noticed many of us veterans don't get to a perfect goal weight but can MAINTAIN a healthy lower weight for many years...with good diet practices and exercise. I feel some of us are a bit larger and healthy. That is the bliss for me. No more up and down. No drastic diet measures followed by regains. Just a great healthy lifestyle. Shopping in regular stores. Not worrying about walking up a huge hill ( me yesterday). Enjoying a " normal" mid life and not obsessing about food! Imperfect me. Love it! Almost 8 years Happy!!!
  20. thanks. Just ordered them. Any tips on tastiest vs cardboard like?
  21. Perfectly imperfect me. Damn auto correct
  22. Good luck with your choice. I chose banding 7 1/2 years ago because it seemed to be the least invasive. I would do it again tomorrow. No more yo -yo up and down dieting. Very happy and content. Perfectly perfect me
  23. Yes. I feel more restricted in the am. First food of the day takes me a bit. Sometimes I need to get up and walk around . Then some days. Like someone posted Yogurt is barely doable. Is it hydration ? I usually drink the same amount of water. Once I'm irritated it takes awhile to settle. Then back to life light!
  24. This is a funny thread. Never ever going back. Don't want to feel self conscious.....don't want to be uncomfortable lots of the time....want to have this great lifestyle and feel healthy Done with the daily struggle of fighting hunger all day. Happy and imperfect. Heck ya
  25. Txdiva Best of luck on your journey. This forum is nice to see different ways people travel down WLS life. Seems to be a common thread about protein ,water, exercise and making appt. to see your doctor. I like that these things are long term goals and not the old yoyo diets we mostly were on/ off before. I'm convinced on/off drastic dieting without support confuses our body and does not make it behave correctly.... weight wise. Just my opinion. But I don't want to ever go back to pre band and the struggle and hunger for YEARS. FYI. Banded 12/06. Happy. Healthy imperfect me!
