  1. I don't know if others have this issue but my band can be fine for a week and then get irritated and not let much in. I have to ease up and let it reset. And stress seems to cause some irritation. I had an issue with a relative and I was irritated( in many ways) but my band acted up. I don't get many fills after so many years but this band has a mind of its own sometimes. Bottom line. I have to let go.. It is driving this boat sometimes. Not me. Hard for a strong headed ( ok bitchy) woman
  2. We are not alone. 12/06. Banders. Just fewer of us to chat. I will be here
  3. May Please keep us posted. This banded life is so unusual to outsiders... I believe in what you call a starvation response. Never have I eaten around 1000-1200 calories a day forYEARS and how could I not be very slim? I'm happy and healthy and " normal size" but to most those calories are an extreme diet.... Not life daily as we know it as bandsters
  4. These are great posts! I need to read them time and time again We are the marathon people ( never used that phrase for me before). Here day and month and years later. Not perfect but healthy and happy and pleased with myself and weight almost everyday. I shall try to avoid negativity in posts....they don't help my day. These do ....so thanks!
  5. After almost 8 years there seems to be a balance of protein intake. I also like premier protein drinks. My band doesn't allow much in the morning and a drink helps. Often a protein bar in my purse gets me through a few more hours. In a perfect world I would have solid food in the am. But this band says no. And I listen for once in my life. So far so good!
  6. Yes. Lunar eclipse tonite. In California at 3ish I think. Too foggy for the coast to see. 100 * just 2 days ago I really like this thread and Lisa I like the first mate costume! No candy or ice cream in this house. It sings like a siren and I weakly answer.
  7. I agree with quick weight gain if non compliant. And I fills seem to go with just a bit more food than usual. But I'm in the camp that doesn't weigh themselves too much. Much of my adult life the scale has not been my friend. It truly affects my mood for the day. I can tell by clothing and other ways if I'm on track and fine. I do weigh in at my Drs. appt and sometimes at friends houses but do not keep a scale in the house.
  8. I am very curious to see how diverse us banders diet is. I will say that a protein drink and usually a protein bar figure into my day. Also I'm ok with some rice and vegetable. Tofu also works; usually in a soup or with something for flavor. Chicken thighs NOT breasts too. And a yogurt My caloric intake seems low... Tho I'm seeing that is fairly common in maintenance. Please tell us what your daily eating entails. Thanks
  9. Jean Join us! Tell us a story about your journey. We are pretty harmless women who seem to be thankful for the change in our lives!
  10. Thanks for replying Today is better. I tried tums and one other. Hard yesterday to keep anything down. Coffee is ok this am I need to remember to be gentle and eat light when I feel pressure. You would think I might know a bit after almost 8 years but I'm still learning Glad to have my band. Even if not cooperative once in a good while Good luck to you!
  11. Wow. Being irritated with the band and me. Popcorn last night. Mistake apparently. Usually fine. All day since I woke up...slimes...not even protein shakes staying down for 3/4 day. Finally water cleared but c'mon. 6 pm. Coffee? No go...liquid protein drink? No. Nothing finally at 6:30 pm a few nibbles of a protein bar(quest..thanks for the tip you guys) does anyone else have awful days like this? I haven't had this bad of an incident in years. Really asking if others do?
  12. Welcome This is a funny quirky group and I learn a lot here
  13. Wow. Congrats at 12 years. It is hard to believe how fast hunger and weight can return when unfilled I hope you can get a fill soon. I am at almost 8 years. Staying the same weight. But some days the band will not tolerate much of anything... That is ok due to having not much hunger most days. Protein drink. Sigh. Frustrating other times when I just want a simple salad or chicken breast. And it says no way. I was almost emptied once when it got super irritated. And boy. It IS different. Took a while before I was able to fill. Gained 13 lbs. but you will persevere. Things will go back to how they have been for years I hope Keep posting and let us know
  14. I find there was lots if free time when I didn't want to plan, shop, prepare, eat and clear up FOOD. So I do see I use my iPhone more. ( like this app) And talk on the phone more. And.... sigh... work out 3 x a week and work part time. That is enough to occupy me for now ... Years post op
  15. I also find that I cannot drink 2-3 drinks over an hour anymore. Like when I am out for dinner with friends. One is about all. Dang it! It does affect me more though so I am economical sigh
  16. It is the KEEPING weight off (within reason ). That I adore. Next year I'll still be close to this size. Happy
  17. Gosh that is a common theme. First food of the day. Yes or no today band? I so agree about waiting too long to eat. Once my band gets irritated,I have to drink protein drinks sometimes .Just like Betty said and spoky gurl ......same food different day. Not sure if my band will be happy that day or not. BUT. I will! Food will wait a day. Never thought I would say that Amazing how much time NOT planning. Shopping. Preparing. Eating. Clean up. FOOD. HURRAH
  18. Add me to the happy list. Since dec 2006. Could be antique by now but I'm keeping it!
  19. Funny story.... Truth be told I believe lots of us fight those night "should I eat or go to sleep". Demons. Mostly the angel wins.... Other times.....
  20. You and jack I think are the veterans over 10 years. I am almost 8 and happy to feel "normal". Whatever that is to is all
  21. Absolutely no regrets and would do it again! I was so thrilled to be on the other side that discomfort didn't seem so bad. Certainly had to change my life and I am grateful. I have the feeling my size would have crept UP instead of dropping down each month. Yikes
  22. The freezing issue is much better recently on my iPhone. I find it enjoyable again to peruse and not be frustrated. Thanks
  23. Thanks whoever mentioned smooth move tea earlier. Now I see it again. This site is so nice for all kinds of suggestions. I like it also at night and seems to indeed get things moving
  24. I have flown quite a lot in the past 7+ years (today even)and never had the band cause an issue. Thanks for the heads up in case it occurs though. I'll know why they are patting me down. It would help if they were young hunky guys oops
  25. Sara I am one of 2 banders in a large group. I know what you are saying unicorn... Funny analogy VSG is the most common WLS in our group 90%. Some bypass. Lots of good stories and nice group Happy to hear others have the same experience
