This Is Gross, But The Protein Mix Is
try something without dairy. some people may not be sensitive to milk products while on their regular diet but when the diet is altered it can cause you to be more sensitive to it . i experience this myself and i have opted to blend my protein powder with almond milk or soy milk

Easy Way To Calculate Calories, Protein, Etc.
if u have a smart phone u can download an app called calorie counter. it calculates the calories as well as everything else like protein, fat, sodium... its great u can look up the items from different restaurants or u can just simply scan the barcode of a food item and it records it for you check it out

Breaking Up With Food/liquid Diet
i have been on the pre opt diet for almost 2 weeks and getting close to my surgery date (JAN 4th) and this liquid diet has made me realize how much food is a part of my life and how much of an emotional eater i have been. i have literally broken down into tears a few times because of the emotional impact of this diet. it may have a lot to due with the fact that my liquid diet started dec 22 so it has gone on through the holidays and seeing everyone eat together and seeing all the joy that it brings to them made me a bit nostalgic. its been tough but also an eye opener to realize that i am so attached to food and to realize all the feelings that it can bring about. i didn't realize how emotional this journey was going to be. and i guess in any other emotional situation i would recruit to food but this time i can't and i think that is why i had a few break downs, because i can no longer find comfort and consolation in food and that brings me a since of loneliness ( as pathetic as that might sound) but i guess now is when i start the journey of realizing that food wasnt or shouldnt be the solution to an emotional situation but the problem. so its time to end this bad relationship and break up with food. anyone else have emotional reaction to the diet or post lap band ? comments?

Pre-op Liquid Diet Help
hey, im on my pre opt liquid diet too. mine is for 2 weeks but for mine i am allowed to have one VERY light meal a day like a "salad with a lean cuisine" . my dr said the object of the diet is to shrink ur liver in order for the surgery to go smoother. he requires a 5% weight loss before surgery but each doctor is different. idk if not losing the weight would put ur surgery in jeopardy but it would probably just make it more difficult for them if the liver isnt shrunk. ive also heard that some drs dont require a diet before surgery but again each dr is different

New, Young And On My Way With My Lap Band Surgery Journey
My name is crystal and i am 22 years old. im excited to start this journey at such a young age because i feel it will prevent me from may illnesses that i can get if i continue gaining wait. at first i was very hesitant about getting the surgery i thought that i could just do it on my own and was ashamed that if i got the surgery i was "taking the easy way out" but at 254lbs i am pre dietetic and have high blood pressure and i know i need this surgery in order to live a healthy life. im so young and still feel ashamed of letting people know about my surgery cuz im scared they will ridicule me. the only person that really knows is my sister and although she has informed my parents and they are all for it their direct support is minimal because we are not that close. i am really excited i have found lapbandtalk.com because i can really use your support and motivation. i am very excited to start this journey. hopefully i will get the courage to tell my friends about my surgery. anyone else have trouble telling people about their surgery ? is it important i tell people ? or anyone start this journey at a young age? or any thoughts ?
