I did the six months diet. The problem is that they want it to show behavioral modofications and counseling for each visit and I do not have that..We discussed it at each visit but it is just not documented like they want it to. Med Spa will not give me any thing else. I turned in my personal journal and we will see what they say about that. At this point, I am just MAD. No, I wil not give up or give in!! what did you do in your first three? Have you asked your insurance company what they require? That is going to determine what is next

So I was denied. .I have my comobidities. I have the BMI. They denied me based on documentation.. They said that I do not have the behavioral modifications documented for my 6 months non surgical weight lost. I wernt to the Simply U Med Spa in Albany Ga.. They do not provide per visit documentation like a dr does.. This is a kicker. I offered my own journal notes. I sent them and will also send my pharmacy records where I used appetite suppressants. Also do not have documentation that I have tried extensive measures to treat my comobididies. I have a CPAP for sleep apnea, I have oestoarthritis. I have had two neck surgeries, I have had root deadners, and epiderals and still take pain meds every day.. I need help..... What do I do now???

I was wondering how much wweight others have lost after the first four weeks of being banded. I am hoping to get my approval this week and get scheduled hopefully for the end of Decemeber. I am at 220 now..

Here we go again. The dreaded waiting game. I talked with the surgeon's assistant and she sent my packet to my insurance company on Wednesday, Nov 31. She feels confident that I will be approved. Also, she says that if they dont, they may ask for more info. What else could they want? I will go ahead and send it to them now.. I was really hoping that I could get this done before the year end.... It would really be cool to start out my new years resolution with my lapband and loose incredible weight before spring break so that I could go to the beach with my daughter and not feel like a beach whale walking around... So she said that it would take afew days for the insurance company to get it all in the system and that I should give them at least a 3-4 days before I start calling to hound them.. I have already called yesterday and today and they said it is not in the system yet... Flip!! Come on you people. I am an impatient female on a mission.. If it takes much longer I may loose my mind.

Have you already been approved by your insurance company for the procedure? It is not an overnight process.. I have been working on mine since April. It was finally submitted to the insurance company on Wednesday, Nov 31. I called today and they still have not put it into the system yet.. I would really shop and make them earn your business.It is not fraud, but standard medical practice to waive fees expecially for those who have insurance but the provider is out of network...

I have BCBSI. You need to contact the insurance companies and let them look to see if it is excluded on YOUR policy because not all plans cover it within a company.. Alot has to do with your employer.

I am in the same boat. I have 36 bmi with two comobidities so I am just waiting for the call from the surgeon to tell me if my insurance approved it. Have you called your insurance company yourself and asked for a LIST of every thing that they require? There is more to mine than just BMI and comos. I had to do a 6 month non surgical weightloss program, and sleep study, and psychological evaluation.. as well as getting medical records showing 5 years of obese history and approval letter by my pcp..

Your insurance is paying for your TT?

I have bcbsi and they MAKE you have 6 conseutive months of weight loss program, non surgical and it has to have alot of components with it.. so good luck.

All it takes is motivation and the will to succeed. I know that sounds easier said than done. I can not wait until I get my approval. I did eat today... alot more than I should have but I know that this will be my last year..

Sad that U have to take it. were you a self pay? that would suck even more for me. Some things work for one but not another....
