  1. DONT GIVE UP NOW !!! You may not have hit the green zone if you've only been getting fills since April. Go vack and talk to your Dr. about this problem, he's seen it before, im sure. You are giving up WAY too easily because of minor setbacks. " working out is hard, eating right is hard, loosing weight is hard.............. being overweight is hard,........... choose your hard !" Author unknown. Good luck, you got this !!
  2. You're doing great , dont go backwards at this point ! Ask yourself WHY are you making poor choices ? Stress, ? Lack of food planning ? No sleep ? Etc,..... Maybe if you can find out why , you'll know how to fix it. Plan and pack food in advance. Work out instead of stressing out, etc. You CAN do this , we ALL have faith in you ! Good luck !
  3. Please correct me if im wrong, but did I miss something ? Ive seen about 98 % positive remarks, and 2% negitive / snarky. Occasionally we all have a bad day, are cranky, vent a little too strongly, etc. We're human, and not perfect. But bullying ? Never seen it here. Do I need glasses ? Just wondering what I did'nt see, as I would'nt like anyone to think I was ever "bullying " etc for having a strong opinion. Just wondering. ................
  4. You're quite welcome.
  5. P.S. old saying - " Sometimes the only bite of success some people get is when they take a bite out of others " - sad but true..............
  6. Well, you just go ahead and rant ! That's what this place is for ! Congratulations on your weight loss ! Way to go ! As for the negative comments ? People dont stop and think before they speak, they just put out their opinions without thinking of how the other person will feel. So, stand up for yourself , politely but firmly ! ( And by the way, whether you lose "another 20 lbs " or not, you're STILL HOT , because being HOT is a state of mind, not a body size ! Just sayin '.......................)
  7. Sorry this happened, especially on your first day back, but maybe its a step in the right direction ? One of my favorite quotes is " Don't be afraid to give up the good to go for the great ." From the late, great Steve Prefontaine .
  8. Screw the charts. You're awesome. Nuff' said.
  9. A " steamer " is just hot steamed milk with your choice of flavoring, , like mint, cinnamon, etc. Really good ! You can choose what kind of milk ( 2%, skim etc) and you get your calcium in there too. I love them when I want someting with no caffeine, but still hot and yummy.
  10. You're on a "planes, trains and automobiles" trip ( a hilarious John Candy movie) and the whole trip is better, easier and more fun than any one I went on before WLS ! I ( I'm on an Amtrak as I write this, yesterday was "carry a 50 lb backpack and 2 other things and make a dang quick fast walking connection between 2 trains " !! Hubby said " I can't believe you just did that ! You're a trooper !!" Thank you Lap Band ! )
  11. Sorry if I came across as blunt, I did'nt mean to hurt anyones feelings. My apoligies if I did. I guess im just a little baffled by people who are using words like "completely defeated" and "so depressed", when you need to gently remind yourself that you just had major. surgery. Your body may still be in shock, recovering and your body may be trying to figure out if its being starved or not, and trying to hold onto the fat etc if it is being starved. So thats why I m not abig fan of he scale as a measure of success. Hang in there, youll do just fine !
  12. Quit using the scale as a measure of your success. Problem solved.
  13. Well for starters, im a stress eater too. I totally get where you're coming from. First, start packing your food/snacks for work, AHEAD OF TIME. Then you wont be tempted to grab junk when you're stressed. Have your kid "help", he will feel involved and you'll get a job done too. Same with dinner, google " make ahead meals", or " crockpot meals" or "hobo meals" , which your little one would probably really like putting together. (Also known as " tin foil dinners"). This way you'll have several days of meals done at once, ahead of time. Last, Google " One, two, three, Magic !" It's an easy way to discipline a child in a good , healthy way. I raised 4 kids, was a foster/adopt parent, this worked well for me. I hope some of this helps, good luck to you !!!
  14. Summer rain, every one of theses above posts have been right on, couldn't of said it better, and the support here ? Beyond amazing. Yes I understand isolating yourself, not living your life because you're just going through the emotions, depression, ( oh, that one was a bi*ch !!!) etc.........because I unfortunately have been/done all of them. I can only tell you from my experience, Holy Smokes, did it get better , or what ? Wls was an amazing gift to myself and my family. They got the benefits too. Hubbys real happy, as am I !! I truly think you'll see this as a positive in your life , and the incredible life you will start LIVING, not just EXISTING !!! M y best to you , hugs !!!
  15. Love the tigger picture, so cute ! Tiggers not bad either ! (Tee hee !) Congrats ! You look great !
  16. Amen to ALL the above posts ! There's a little of me in everyone ! A co worker told me I was much more outgoing after the surgery than before. Thanks ! I 'll take it ! When you start liking what you see in the mirror and start getting daily compliments you 'll be much less an introvert, more comfy talking with others. I just felt better, happier and healthier, and I think people picked up on that. Also, I paid more attention to my clothes , makeup etc and that was noticeable too. Exercise helped too ! think you'll start coming out of your shell after surgery, and you 'll be much happier ! Good luck !!
  17. I dont have any saggy skin and im you're height and was close to your weight when I was banded. Like Rovobay said, it depends on alot of factors. Going to the gym will help you in so many ways, but whether or not it will help with saggy skin, I dont know. Either way, loosing excess weight will make you stronger , happier and healthier, so its a win win any way you look at it. Good luck !!
  18. Somebody's being awesome ! Congratulations on your hard work ! Keep it up !!!
  19. Hey Miss Fabulous, you've lost 18 or more lbs recently, you should be very proud of yourself ! There's no rule that says you're going to lose weight EVERY week, so just let your body adjust, and figure out that its not being starved and it will let go of the weight . In the meantime just be happy that you're getting healthier ! Congratulations !!!
  20. Eeeeekkk ! Im the last person that should reply , as Im traveling tonight from upstate New York , on an Amtrak , home to Seattle. My food today has' nt been the best because of travel and not a huge AM appetite. Breakfast - cocoa, lunch - a Wendys small cheeseburger, no bun, 4 fries, a few sips of a Frosty. Late snack - hot tea, cookie. Dinner will be roast chicken, grapes, veggies. Not the best, but today , it is what it is.
  21. Way to go !!! Keep it up !!!
  22. Hi there, Im glad to see you're doing your homework before being banded, I think some people don't research it well and then are totally surprised when things don't turn out . EVERYTHING can have a horror story, not everything is 100 % guaranteed, but I found if I followed the Dr.s rules the band worked very well !! Im VERY happy with my band, it gave me my life back, and I have a healthier, happier mind and body. Im very grateful for this 2nd chance ! Good luck to you !
  23. Well, I'm not sure why you're so "discouraged", I lost exactly 50 lbs my 1st 7 months after being banded and I was jumping for joy !!!! Im not sure what you were expecting, but as far as I know 1-2 lbs a week is about average, so that is about 7 lbs a month for you, ( 7×7= 47 lbs) ! Great job ! You're doing great ! Im close to your height ( Im 5'3) but im 9 yrs older and started at 225 lbs. Once I dropped the 1st 50, it did slow down, took me another year to get 15 lbs off, ive been at 160 for quite awhile. I may or may not get to 140, but I'll take a happy, healthy 160 any day ! Hope this helps , good luck and keep up the good work !!
  24. Well, you're just amazing dipped in awesome sauce, now are'nt you ???? CONGRATULATIONS !!!!! You are such an inspiration to others ! Way to go ! And congrats to your hubby for his success too !!! Keep it up !!
  25. My hubby has been 100 % supportive all the way. We had changed our eating habits when he was diagnosed a diabetic 4 yrs ago, so I didnt have to change alot of food when I was banded. My problem was quantity., snacking and a big sweet tooth. But since ive been banded he has lost 8 lbs because we make smaller amounts of food. He's very happy ( he's 6'1, now weighs 204lbs) with both of our weights losses !!
