  1. Cottage cheese, Peanut Butter yogurt, milk, many veggies and many nuts are high in Protein.

Yeah carbs are not our bariatric friend. Stay far away from them. In moderation is fine but if your already falling back to them it's best to clean them right out of the house.

Make a menu for the week and go grocery shopping after a meal and stick to the list. This really helped me.

Not sure what support you have but talk to your dietitian about portions and meal ideas. Also could join if you haven't yet the meals forum on here.

Great ideas. Or even Google bariatric meals. There are thousands of great ones.

  2. Trust me you got this. The worst part for both my husband and I was the pre-op liquid diet. I felt exactly the same as you. Thinking what the heck are we doing. But so so worth it.

Once you actually have the surgery you will be very pleasantly surprised how little you want or can eat and feel satisfied. Not hungry and to loose weight is a great feeling.

Don't give up and drink lots of Water it really does help.

  3. Exactly. I have also witnessed it first hand. My cousin had the sleeve and other family would talk about her in a negative way about getting it done. I would try to explain it to them how it works but they never wanted to listen.

I feel bad for her knowing we did also and she doesn't know but we have enough stress in life and don't need to add more.

If you choose later on that's fine too. I did tell a close friend later on.

    Best of luck to you.

  4. Personally if your not comfortable telling them then don't. My husband and I both got lap bands 5 years ago and the only ones who know are immediate family.

I felt that they would say it's the easy was out. With out them actually knowing it's just a tool and we are actually doing the work. I felt the same as you and we choose not to say anything.

  5. I'm thinking a little fill would be a good idea. If I was you that's what I would do. Also go back to the basics of eating. You have reached your band level and need a fill. Once you stop loosing and start eating more it's a sign for a fill. Also the apt in it self is a good boost to get back on track.

You can do it. You already have you just need a little boost.

I found doing a menu really helped and sticking to the grocery list. Planning meals is a big part of it.

    Your stronger than you think.

  6. Opps hit send by accident.

I meant very effective if used correctly. I have a lap band as well as my husband. We have both been very successful.

    Do not be discouraged.

My two good friends and a cousin all had the sleeve two are failing the sleeve. Gaining back weight now.

I and my husband have had the band almost 5 years. Glad I choose this option for the reason of its adjustability.

  7. Hi everyone I had my third fill last Thursday I already had some restriction after 2nd fill and struggled with some food types. However after third fill ( one more ml ) I have lost all restriction ' date=' feel hungry and have not struggled with any foods like i Normally do ie bread , bran flakes etc has anyone experienced this or could explain what might have happened ??? I'm starting to worry :0([/quote']

My husband had this same thing happen to him!! They didn't know what it could be!! My husband was thinking it had leaked out or they missed or went through the port!! A few weeks later he went in and they pulled all the Fluid out to measure it and he had the right amount in it and they pushed it back in and then he once again felt the restriction he should if the first time!! They think maybe they didn't pull back enough before they pushed in a fill!!

When you get a fill they always are suppose to pull back in the syringe to make sure they got Fluid and take out about a 1 cc amount then push it plus the new amount in so that it goes to the band and not just stay in the tube!!

    Not sure if this helps!!

I would just make an appt and explain it to them maybe get then to pull all fluid out to measure then push back in!!

  8. Hi Everyone! I just wanted to pass along some information. I started using My Fitness Pal 5 weeks ago. When you complete your dairy for the day it will tell you' date=' "If everyday is like today, in 5 weeks you would weigh___" Everyday I write down what the projected 5 week weight would be and believe me, 5 weeks ago I thought "No Way!" But here, 5 weeks later, MFP is dead on what it projected I would weigh! I lost about 15lbs in that time. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

If you are a calorie counter, try using MFP. It is awesome![/quote']

I have used it in the past and I'm geeing back on track and using again I too love it!! So easy to use and free so why not right!!

  9. how is everyone doing now that it's been over 6 months. I'm doing well I'm down 67lbs. My goal is 100 down by march 2nd which will be my 1yr mark. Works out to 1.6lbs a week I have to lose. Weight loss has slowed since the beginning but I was told this would happen. It seemed easy at first with little effort but now its more work.

I don't say I have any regrets other than I wish it was covered, but glad I got it done.

I struggle sometimes on what to eat I seem to eat the same dozen meals all the time. Looking into seeing a dietition hoping they can help expand my menu or edit it at least.

I still need to work on the chew, chew, chew. Lol also eating more and eating first my Protein.

Well that's about it in short form hope to hear from ya all soon.

  11. Hello!! I am being banded on March 9!!!! I have just been waiting and want to get it over as soon as possible. Now that it is getting closer to my date I am getting really anxious and scared. Is anyone else? I know it is defiinetly what I want and need to do.

I am also really anxious but i am also very excited, but once we start to reek the benifits and when its all done we will look back and say what was i so worried about... It will be just fine. I cant wait to finally be getting this done, and so soon I go March 2nd.. Best of luck to you..

  12. Wow its great how many of us are already in March, it is amazing. I wish everyone the best of luck.

    Question for you????

I have not yet told my boss about my surgery, I did only find out shortly ago the date. She is the type that has to know everything and I don't want to tell her, I know 100% she would not keep it to her self, and in this small town everyone would know.

So what do I tell her and my co-workers that will be asking why I need the time off. I don't want to sound rude and say its none of their business, although that's what my husband says I need to do. (aka grow some balls) as he would say.

    Any input would help thanks!!!
