  1. Keep your eye on the prize! Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. Corinna
  2. Unless I feel really bad afterwards, I am staying at the hotel with my mom. I think it will be more relaxing and I am bringing my own anti nausea and pain meds that my pcp prescribed for me. Have lots of movies to watch (bringing a portable dvd player) and some good books on my Kindle. Plan on doing as much walking as possible. Good luck to you and whatever decision you make! Corinna
  3. Sooooo, I start my pre op diet today. I have mixed feelings about it. I am excited because my surgery is in 3 days. Im nervous because my surgery is in 3 days. Worried that I will be tired and weak from only having Clear liquids and 1 Protein shake a day, at least tomorrow is my last day of work. I fly out Tues to head to Mexico and its all starting to become a reality! I dare say that I feel a little bit scared. I have thought of backing out a few times, but now I feel confident in my decision, but I am very nervous. Right now Im hungry!!!! . Going to do some gardening today, its beautiful out and Im trying to stay distracted...... and close to the toilet as I have to take a laxative today as well. Sounds like its going to be a fun day!!! lol. So glad I have this board for support!!! Thanks for listening. Corinna
  4. Personally I like Oh Yeah and unjury the best. I dont mind the Isopure RTD but the unflavored powder was gross. I think you'll find that everyone has such varying tastes that its best to try some and see what YOU like. Good luck! Corinna
  5. Hello~ I start my pre op diet tomorrow and am getting really nervous about my surgery. Tonight we went to my mother in laws for my birthday dinner and I went all out. I ate like I was never going to eat again. I had a humbling moment on the way home with my gut stuffed I could hardly move. I am getting this surgery because I eat like that very often. I said good bye to it tonight. I wont miss it and I wont miss this feeling....uncomfortable, food up to my throat and just disgusted with myself. Looking forward to 3 days of liquids!! Happy birthday with liquids and laxatives....ugh. Corinna
  6. I havent had my sleeve yet, but when I had my band my anesthesia experience wasnt that bad. They started my IV several hours before my surgery. when it was time to go to the OR, they took me in and the anesthesiologist told me he was going to give me someething to relax. Thats the last thing I remember until I woke up. I was very uncomfortable and I just wanted to sit up but they wouldnt let me. I had to wait until I went back to my room. They gave me something for pain and I felt more relaxed. Went back to sleep and before I knew it I was back in my room. Overall not bad at all. Anesthesia can be scary, but my advice is try to relax. The goal of the Dr, is to make the experience as easy as possible for you. They can give you something to help you relax before surgery, just ask. Good luck!! Corinna
  7. Welcome! Glad you are recovering well from your surgery. Sometimes the whole Protein shake thing takes awhile to find one that you like and that also agrees with you. sounds like you are well on your way. Keep on drinking! Look forward to hearing about your progress. Corinna
  8. Hi~ I have not had the surgery yet and I am also nervous. I look at it this way. I am doing something to permanently change the way I eat and look at food, which has been an issue for me all my life. I think it is perfectly normal to be nervous about something like this. It is a HUGE step towards a healthier, happier you. As for it being permanent...unless you plan on gaining the weight back, that shouldnt be an issue. I hope that you can calm yourself down and think of the positive things that will come from this surgery. Remember why you decided to have the surgery to begin with. You will be fine and we are all here to give you the advice and support that you may need through your journey. Good luck!! Corinna
  9. Good luck! Keep us updated on your progress. Corinna
  10. Good luck! Let us know how it went. Corinna
  11. They just told me to take an adult dose of an OTC laxative of my choice. I am assuming that there is a difference between stool softeners and laxatives. I dont think I need to take anything as harsh as magnesium citrate since I will be on clears for 3 days after the dose of laxative. I wont be taking it until next sunday, but bought the MOM today. I think it will be sufficient. I just read on another board that others have used MOM as well. Thanks so much for your replies!! Corinna
  12. hello~ Part of my pre-op requirement is to take an adult dose of a laxative 3 days before surgery and then nothing but Clear liquids. I bought milk of magnesia intending to use it. Knowing nothing about laxatives, I am wondering if it will be strong enough or if I should buy something different. I dont want anything too harsh, but I still need the "effect". Is MOM adequate or would your recommend something else? Corinna
  13. Hello! I was so happy to see this forum! I am scheduled for 5/23 and boy am I getting nervous. It sure does make me feel more relaxed to read such good things about Dr. Almanza and the Jerusalem Hospital. I think I will be just fine. I am a bit nervous about being sick after the surgery...oh and the gas! I had lap band surgery and the gas was the worst. I am so dreading it....ugh. EbonyJ sounds like I will see you there. I plan to stay in the recovery house the next day and then go to the hotel with my mom for the last 2 days. Will be leaving Sunday the 27th. I start my liquid diet on my birthday so that kinda stinks, but Im going to have a nice birthday dinner the night before. Can anyone recommend a good laxative? I bought MOM and plan on using that, but I have never taken laxatives before so I dont know if one's better than the other. Looking forward to this journey....nervous, scared and excited all at the same time. Corinna
  14. Thanks for your replies. I know it seems like a silly fear, but with everything else I will be dealing with, that really kind of scares me. I will do my best to try not to worry about it, but I am a worry wart! I am very excited for the surgery, just not the first week or so after....lol. Thanks again! Corinna
  15. Hello~ My surgery is scheduled for 5/23 and as the day draws closer, I find myself more and more scared. The thing I am the most worried about is feeling nauseous and or vomiting. I have even had second thoughts about doing it because it makes me that nervous. I very rarely get nauseous or vomit under normal circumstances, but this is not normal circumstances. Has anyone else been this afraid about it? Talk me off the ledge please!!! Corinna
  16. so far I have purchased Low calorie Gatorade Oh Yeah RTD shakes A large assortment of Protein smoothies and Soups Protein hot chocolate Light juices sugar free popsicles sugar free Jello Oh Yeah chocolate Protein powder broth Sugar free Snapple True Lemon True Orange True Lemonade
  17. I had my band emptied about a month before my surgery. This was purely my choice as they did tell me that I didnt necessarily have to have the band emptied before I had the surgery. I simply wanted not to be uncomfortable for the time before my surgery. I also wanted to enjoy some things I knew I wouldnt be able to eat once I am sleeved like bagels and sandwiches. I have gained about 5lbs and am not to concerned about weight gain. Surgery is in 3.5 weeks.
  18. Getting the slimies when you're stuck. Getting stuck. Pain when I eat....I could go on and on.
  19. I got a loan from the bank for my surgery in MX. I paid in advance ( my surgery isnt until May 25th). I feel like its one less thing to worry about. I know I can get a full refund if I change my mind within 7 days of the surgery. I like having the peace of mind. Thats just me though. If you have a problem keeping money in the bank (like me!) then its probably a good idea to pay in advance, just find out the refund policy of your surgeon. Good Luck!! C~
  20. My sleeve date is 5/25 in MX with Dr. Almanza. Getting nervous......
  21. Im having lap band revision on 5/25. Right now I weigh 184 and Im 5'2 (BMI 33). I have about 50-55 lbs to lose. Im excited and nervous at the same time. Good luck to you! C~
  22. Well I have decided to go ahead with my revision. My husband is totally not supporting my choice at all. I am taking a chance of this ending our marriage, but if it ends over this...I guess it wasnt very strong to begin with. I am thrilled to start on my journey!! C~
  23. I know for myself I havent been as successful as I could be because I havent changed my eating habits AND I dont follow the rules. I still eat fast, I still dont chew well. I get stuck frequently, which isnt good for the band. I am aware of all these behaviours, yet I seem to have a hard time changing them. The band is only a tool and I really need to do some work on the psychological end of things. I consider myself a food addict, so that is a problem as well.... Im working on it....A work in progress. Im interested to see if anyone one else will share. I want this to work for me, so I wont give up!! C~
  24. Do you think that the esophagus or pouch could stretch in 4.5 months? I know I need to talk to my doc, but Im stressing. I have an appt on Monday, so I guess I will have my questions answered then. Thanks everyone! Luvs.
  25. I also just wanted to add that I have had a few fills since November, so its not like I havent had any and just have no restriction. Im afraid I've ruined my band....Im getting on the good foot and doing what I need to do! I hope and pray its not too late.
