    Chix Wing Dip

I tried this the other night, and it is now my favorite! Who knew I liked hot sauce!?!? It made my chicken go down so much easier, and I made enough to last me a few meals! Thanks so much for sharing this!
  2. Right after surgery, when I was getting all the gas out, combined with the gas of being on a liquid diet, I turned to my best friend (who also happens to be my co-worker in our small office) and flat out said: "Look, I am going to sound like a barnyard animal for a few days/weeks...please still love me!" And we laughed it off and went on our way. I figured it was going to happen in front of her, might as well be up front about it!
  3. Same here! I haven't had any type of bread in almost a month, and surprise surprise...I feel great, and I don't miss it all that much! I even walked by a bakery twice this week, and was totally okay...nothing in the window appealed to me! As far as post op, I am a little over 3 weeks out, and the number one thing my stomach still loves is Greek Yogurt. It is the ONLY thing I did not have an issue with at first. eggs were my fave pre-op, but now I can only have on a good day, and even then, I still can't eat all of 1 egg scrambled. Soft chicken also took some time, but I think that's because I have been vegetarian up until recently on top of it. pureed low sodium Soup with chicken and veggies went ok, but Greek Yogurt is a main staple. Try to find one thing your sleeve loves, and base some meals around that!!
  4. I am 3 weeks out, and would be happy to help as well!

    Food Porn ( Graphic)

Yes! So much food porn...but it's weird. I got into cooking about 6 months before surgery, and while I am still finding my way, I have been drooling over websites like Eggface, and Skinny tastes. I NEVER knew there were so many decently healthy things to make that look so darn yummy! So now I find myself looking forward to being able to start a whole new eating phase, making these wonderful low cal/ low carb dishes for myself (and let's be real, my friends, cause I won't be able to eat it all!)
  6. I am wearing my favorite jeans to work today that I have not been able to fathom putting on for at least 2 1/2 years...WHOO HOO!!!

  7. I have two: 1) Be kind to myself: I have a sneaking suspicion that if I am kinder to myself, it will only increase the weight loss I am experiencing since being sleeved. (of course being kind to others too ) 2) To run a 5K by this fall!
  8. Pre-sleeve I would have NEVER looked at a Sugar Free Jello-O cup and thought "Perhaps I can finish that...perhaps" Oh the (good) changes!

    296 To 204 - Last Pic In The 2's!

You look stunning!! Keep up the good work girl!
  10. Got sleeved early on a Wednesday morning (checked in at 8am, and surgery prob started around 10/10:30), and was discharged before noon on Friday...good luck, and excited for you!!
  11. I am 20 days post op and I have the same thing surrounding the area of my biggest incision. Not all the time, but usually towards the end of the day after I have walked and done all my other stuff throughout the day. It always feels tight like a muscle cramp...I know it's my body's way of saying I had a long day since I have no other symptoms... hopefully it is just part of the healing process, and we are both on our way!! Hope it all goes well, and let me know how it turns out!!

    Omg Ate A Whole Egg

Oh how I LOVED eggs pre-surgery! First few days after being sleeved, I could eat a bite or two before having the whole thing repulse me! I waited about a week and half, and then tried again. It went a bit better, and now I am almost 3 weeks post, and I can eat 3/4 of one scrambled egg on a good day. I miss them so much, but when I can eat one they are delicious!!

    Any Sleever's from NY?

I had my sleeve a few weeks ago with Dr. Chin at Mount Sinai...loved everything about it! Him, the hospital staff, (ESP the nurses...amazing!!) and the hospital. I could not recommend him more!
  14. Thrift stores!!!, or Old navy Clearance! All you really need are the basics: some tees you can layer sweaters under, which in the winter is fine if they are baggy, and I suggest leggings if you are comfortable with that...they are stretchy so they will fit you through multiple sizes...good luck and let me know how it goes!!
  15. Hey everyone! I was sleeved on Dec. 7th, and so far everything has been progressing nicely (14lbs. down since surgery, and walking a good distance each day whoo hoo!) The only real roadblock I am facing is I am not sleeping well, or at all most nights. The problem is that pre-sleeve, I slept on my stomach...and well, it's going to be a bit of time before that happens again. I slept ok when I was on the meds (ohhh percocet), but I have been off any pain meds for a week, and my body will not fall asleep! I really hate taking sleeping pills, and don't know if I should be taking those anyway right now...any suggestions for a maybe more natural approach, or has anyone else experienced this? Thanks so much and Happy Holidays everyone!!

    Help! Not Sleeping :(

Hey all! Thank you so much for the tips! I tried the Melatonin last night, and I am happy to say that while I didn't stay asleep trough the entire night, I did get a few hours of hardcore much needed sleep. I will try some of the other suggestions too! I also want for my walk a little later in the evening too so I was tired later. I really appreciate all the responses!

    Help! Not Sleeping :(

Thank you all so much for the suggestions! I will be picking up some Melatonin after work for sure! I don't have a recliner, but I might be able to prop myself up a bit with more pillows. I can't say how much I appreciate the advice from everyone on these boards...I would seriously be lost with all the support!!
  18. You look stunning!!!! Congrats girl
  19. I was sleeved on the 7th, and I walked pretty well in the hospital, and the day I came home I did a bi of walking in my apartment, but I mostly slept to be honest. The day after that (4 days post) I took two walks which were a little under a mile each. I have increased it a bit each day, and am a little over 2 miles now...I think everyone moves at their own pace. Keep up the good work, and we are starting an awesome journey!!
  20. I am 12 days post sleeve, and I know it was hard at first for me too! I am just now able to get maybe 30-50oz in a day, and even that feels like a challenge. I would just take it slow over the next few days and allow your body to adjust. Keep trying to up the amount, and if in a few days you are still struggling, call your doctor...they are there to help! Good luck with everything!
  21. Hey everyone! I was sleeved last Wednesday, December 7th, and while reading these boards I have gotten a bit worried. Everyone seems to have been on full liquids right after surgery, and while I was until Saturday, my doctor told me to move on to the mushies. Right now puréed Soup, Protein shakes, and Greek yogurt work for me best, but I was able to have some puréed lentils and black Beans and some very very mushy mashed potatoes. Is this normal so soon? I mean my surgeon gave the ok, but I was never told liquids for 2 weeks after, and it seems the norm on these boards. I also seem to be easily eating 1/2 cup of those things... I live in NYC and walk everywhere and so I am already walking 2 miles a day so perhaps I am just burning everything? Also, my multi Vitamin has always made me a bit queasy, even when I was trying different brands before surgery, but tonight I actually spent 15 minutes throwing it up... Any advice for those? Thank you all for reading...I want to make sure this works, so I just want to make sure I am making the most of it!!
  22. Thanks DebiC!!!! It good to just hear some reassurance from someone other than my own head haha! I have not heard about the costco brand, but I will def be going there tomorrow haha! Anything has to be better than the chalky ones I have now...tonight it was like being on the morphine in the hospital again...instant toilet hugging. So gross

Who Is Getting Sleeved Dec 7th?

I have been doing the pre-op for a few weeks or so. Protein shakes for Breakfast and lunch, and a light dinner. About a week ago I went full Protein Shakes with a snack or so, and yesterday and today the lovely Clear liquids. I cheated a bit on Sunday and ate because I catered a wedding and was literally running up and down stairs for 14 hours...I would have never survived without food! Luckily it was all vegan!! How has it been going for you??

    Unexpected Response From Co-worker

Haha it def took me a "Count to 10" second, and truth be told I have pretty much avoided him since. I absolutely think it from being overly sensitive over the years. It's that moment when you let everyone in on the "secret" of being overweight just like you said. I am just so excited to start this next chapter!
