Bypassjourney got a reaction from lyndynojo in But I Do Wanna Be A Size 6
For me personally, I have told a few people that I just want to be healthy. But honestly, that was just because I think that little voice inside my head was saying (and still says) I shouldn't say I want to be a size 6 so that if and when I fail, I wont be as disappointed. The health benefits are great! But yes, deep down inside I wanted to look good. I am already amazed at the transformation in my body and feel great about the changes. So for me, I say it is a win-win....happy about the way I look and better health. Oh yeah!!!

For me, it's not being a size 2 or 4... I would be happy to be an 8. BUT - I want BOOTS, tall boots that zip up and fit my calf, boots that I can tuck my jeans into. The day that happens I will be jumping up and down in the shoe store!

I haven't told many people about my surgery. But I told one lady that I knew well at church a couple of months after my surgery because she is overweight and she was asking me about how I was losing my weight. Her husband works at the same company as I do so I knew her insurance would cover it. So I just felt it was right to tell her about the surgery. I said "I had WLS". Her reply "oh, my doctor said I am not near big enough for that". Mind you she is actually bigger than I was before surgery. I just replied "oh you would be surprised what they cover". Now when she sees me, she doesn't even speak to me.
What it boils down to is I did this for me and nobody else. These less-than-true friends getting out of my life will leave room for new real friends.

Julie, I can SO relate to this! I saw my ex-husband for the first time in nine months a few weeks ago. We did not speak to each other but the look on his face was priceless. Our marriage didn't end because of my weight, but he sure did bring it up and run me down about my weight when we argued. I did this surgery for myself and nobody else. But seeing him when I am down 65 lbs. from the last time he saw me was sweet justice to me.

Welcome to the forum! It has been such a wonderful source of encouragement and knowledge for me through the whole process.
Progresso has a chicken enchilada Soup that I blended and ate quite a bit during that phase.
I hope things continue to go well for you as you start on this new way of life. The sleeve is the BEST thing that has ever happened to me!

I have been having so many thoughts about this very subject this week. My co-worker and I are the only other woman that work in our office.Yesterday she went on about how a friend of hers was going on and on to her about how fat she used to be and how good she looks now. And the fat weight she says she weighed is 50 pounds less than what I weigh now. It was like she was doing it trying to make me feel bad about my weight and putting a dig into me that I am fatter than her "fat" weight.
My sister and I are very close. We are about the same size and have always dieted together. She has had more success than me in the past. I was a little jealous of her but at the same time happy for her and it motivated me to try harder. But now that I am havnig surgery, she has hardly mentioned it at all. I know she is envious and I am trying to be respectful of that and not talk too much to her about it. I have also been praying that I wont ever get to a point after losing weight that I look down on other people for their weight or that I wont get an uppity attitude just because I am smaller. I feel that God has me on this particular journey for a reason and He will use my experience to fulfill His purpose in my life.

Bypassjourney got a reaction from Julie76 in 12 Weeks Post-Op Success
I had surgery 12 weeks ago. Prior to and soon after surgery I read many posts about people a few months out and most everyone said the sleeve was the best decision they had ever made. I was so hopeful but at the same time fearful that I wouldn’t have such a successful journey. I am happy to say that I feel the exact same way as they described!!! I never thought it would be possible to feel this much better both physically and emotionally in such a short time. I have lost 47 lbs. (stalled for a week now) and down 30.5 inches! I was in a tight 20W three months ago. Now I am comfortably in a size 16.

I have an NSV to share that some of the ladies may be able to relate. I have always gotten regular pedicures. But I have been doing my own pedicures recently. Not so much because it is less expensive…but because I can actually bend over and paint my toes without turning blue!! I am so amazed at my journey so far and looking forward to a lifetime of better living thanks to my sleeve.

Bypassjourney got a reaction from Doreykn in 3 Months Out..am I On Target?
I also had surgery on 1/30 and have lost 45 lbs. (10 of those lbs were on pre-op). I have not exercised but have sure had so much more energy and spending a lot more time spring cleaning my house. Someone had suggested using myfitnesspal.com to track your food and exercise. I just signed on to it yesterday and I am excited about using this tool. It is free also.
I have read so many posts lately about slow losers to where I think we are actually the norm. But hey, 45 lbs. in three months...I wouldn't say that is really a slow loser. Keep up the good work! We can do this!

I think us slow losers are actually the norm rather than the exception. I was getting very discouraged at first also and especially during that three week stall. But what I have started realizing is the .2's have added up over these past several weeks and all of a sudden I am down 40.5 lbs. How funny that yall say people notice it in your face more so than saying they see it in other places because I have had the same thing. But considering I can't hide my chins with turtlenecks year round in Texas, I have decided I am very happy with that compliment. What I am amazed at is the amount of inches I have lost and fitting into clothes I hadn't fit into in years!
