  1. Ok, so this is my first question here... I've been lurking for a little while. I drilled my doctors brain about everything pre-op...but I've come across a couple of obstacles lately within the last few days of surgery swelling going down.... that have me slightly concerned. (Yes, I plan on bringing this up to my surgeon/Clinic come Wednesday , first check up) My port.. (assuming so...on my right side.) small hard lump , directly under the skin.... I think because the swelling from surgery from the band went down... That I can now feel this? Q: Is it ALWAYS this close to the surface? does it usually go down? ...Fear of it coming out any closer to the surface. Kind of paranoid. Very tender in that location... Anyone have this concern or issue after surgery? its only been about 2 weeks. ( Again, just looking for any others who may share this experience, not looking to replace doctors...lol) Also I wanted to add.. directly under the staples/incision...its caving in... soggy little dip in my fat tummy. Normal?
  2. Thanks for the responses , everyone!
  3. I was told this was a... well..... that Id never Burp again. Neither forces, or willing... But... I have been burping A LOT. first week I had to bend over a little to help it come out because the air/gas inside me was hurting...building up. So whats with the " Burping " in Banded patients? I do plan to address this first check up, just curious if anyone can/cant anymore or what?
  4. Hello! So, before I begin all the questions and posting... guess I should briefly introduce myself. I sort of suck at these.. so I will make this quick. My name is Felicia, I live in Arizona. I recently (October 13, 2011) got banded after a year of research, meetings and reading. Surgery went amazing, surgeon was awesome, everything was very convenient for me. I was banded trough True Results in Scottsdale, Az. My starting weight, 371... Pre-op weigh in...356 ( 15 lb loss! YAY ME! lol..) Its been over a week from the surgery. Recovery is going GREAT, sore... really sore. But I am noticing weight loss. ( or inch loss anyways) in my face and tummy. My incisions are healing well.. all 18 staples are driving me INSANE.... hopefully those come out the 25th ( next check in.) 4 days ago I took a 1 mile walk to the park and back. Yesterday I walked 2 miles. I noticed walking helps. I am eager to hit the gym and bust my arse! I have questions...and concerns I will address shortly, in the correct threads. For now, Hello! & Im excited to get to know you all, and share stories!

    A Lot To Lose!

I wish I only had 60-100 to lose. I started at 371.lbs.... I dont see many people in here even weighing THAT much. I feel out numbered too. I want to be down to about 150. over 200 + lbs.... so much to lose... But i WILL do it.
  6. Read your blog. Inspirational :)

  7. I started the day before and the entire first week, probably due to anxiety. But bleeding, bending , having to use a pad and the' diaper/panties" they give you... Ugh.... Like surgery wasnt hard enough. Double wammie! LOL
  8. Nice 2 mile walk with the hubby. 2-3 miles every other day..not to bad for 2 weeks out of surgery. I hope I can keep up this motivation !

    Carbonated Drinks

Being a self pay patient, 13,500 dollars all in one chunk.... I think something as little as craving a soda is not worth having to be cut open or dump another 13,500 dollars into screwing up, even though I knew better. Most people get banned ( in my case anyhow) because they're ADDICTED to food...in all senses; hence the obesity problems we all face. Kicking the food addiction is the key...the priority.. why tease yourself and make it harder, for "quick fix" for a soda?...Is it worth it? Thats how I see it. We can all eat donuts, soda, chips, and Cookies whenever we want..... But why get cut open...and go through the pain and hard times to cheat ourselves. Two words.... Self Discipline. Thats my weakness.... I POUND that in my own head. I hope you stay strong!
  12. Im going to ask my doctor my first post op Apt, im really curious about this too. Ive only been banded 9 days, but mine is SO close to the skin, only the last two days have i noticed this. Sore, and very noticeable.
  13. Conceiving was one of my most important concerns with getting banded. Actually it was one of my MAIN reasons, among being healthier...to get banded. Being severely obese.. and needing to lose lots of weight before safely, being able to try for another child... I had my daughter when I was 325..lost some gained some... that was 4 years ago. I wasnt at a healthy weight then..it was rough. I talked to my doctors, surgeons... lapband specialist.. they ASSURED me.. that this was totally safe ( they just release the fluids through adjustment so you can get the nutrition you need during pregnancy. ) Pregnancy can happen safely, and shouldn't be feared after banding! I just got banded a week ago.,. and im looking forward to loosing weight so I can do the same!
