  2. Yes....American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.....
  3. Yes Parkview is a COE, I was banded there 11/1/11. I went in at 5:30am as ascheduled did not see anyone until bloodraw at 06:30am then went back to same day surgery about 7 am. Surgery was scheduled at 07:30 MD did not even show up until around 8:00am. I did speak with all of the surgical staff, anasthesiologist, ect. However after recovery upon return to same day surgery I dont feel my pain was controlled very well, they never called my friend to say how surgery went or that I was out of recovery. They rushed me to complete a barium swallow and after that was cleared I was kicked out of bed and told to wait in the waiting room. I had to call and find out where my people were and they said no one ever called them so I had to wait until they came to the hospital. I never did see the surgeon or find out how everything went. Still have not. I guess I have to wait until my follow up. I cant say I would recommend Parkview.

  8. Thankfully my pre-op diet is only a week and more liberal in the offerings: 5-6 bariatric advantage shakes with fruit blended in and one meal 300/cal; weight watchers, healthy choice etc. Is yours more restrictive because your doctor is trying to get you to lose prior to surgery or to gage your sucess with the band?
  9. Update: well got my cardiac stress test scheduled for monday and 11/1/2011 I should be getting banded barring any problems with my test!

  12. November 1st, 2011 for me! Edit: Well hopefully...finally got insurance approval , but now my surgeon wants me to have a stress test....now I have 2 possible days for it to happen....Who knows now.
  13. I like you am pre surgery and of course questioning myself, scaring myself with others stories, etc.I too saw the study you refer to with high slippage rates. However much of what you find on the internet is limited and biased. If you have access (like at a college) you can get evidence based practice and peer reviewed information on the lap band. I saw one Dr. use you tube to show how bad the band is while he promoted his surgical cure for weight loss. I have to say ALL surgery comes with risks. But you are more likely to find information onthe internet from those who had trouble rather than those who did not because they are out living their new lives not writing about it on the net. I will go into this with open eyes and you and I will make the right decision and follow you doctors instruction and be successful.
