Did I eat the wrong thing?
I'm a little less than 3 weeks out from surgery and I started eating pretty much anything I wanted last Saturday (a week ago). I was to the point I was hungry so I started and just made sure I chewed really well. I take small bites to make sure not to mess up and swallow too fast. I've had no problems with food. I have felt some of the symptoms you just described especially being nauseaus but I have found it's when I eat too much. I stop eating before it's so much that it makes be throw up but it's to much at times. The hardest thing for me has been learning to know when I'm full. It was a very different feeling a first and I had to figure out that the problem was my stomach was full but my mouth wasn't. Try eating a little less and see if that fixes the problem, it did for m.

Carbonation
I'm five days Post surgery. I asked my doctor before leaving the hospital if I could drink diet coke once I was healed. He said I could try it but I will probably find I don't like it anymore. I was banded before converting to the sleeve and I drank diet coke all the time with no problems. I probably drank 3 or 4 a day.

Surgery 2 days ago
I got sleeved on Tuesday the 27th. All the worrying I did for nothing. It has been very easy so far. Soreness on Tuesday and Wednesday but nothing unbearable, walking around pretty good today. I can't wait for what's to come.

Scared and scared I'm going to cancel and bolt
OK I've been moving around the site reading and reading and I just read something I have another question about. I read something by 2 different people about having their drain removed? What is that? this was the first I heard about it.

how was the pain?
awesome. I am having my band out and sleeve done on Tuesday the 27th. I was wondering how different it would be from the band. I too didn't hurt badly with the band. I don't think I took the pain meds at all either. I'm hoping for your same experience. I'm very nervous about having the sleeve and it freaks me out thinking of doing something that is permanent, Especially if it makes me feel as bad as my band did at times.

Scared and scared I'm going to cancel and bolt
Tiffykins, Thank you soooo much. You helped so much. Let me ask all of you something. You mentioned the staples. That was the one thing that freaked me out bad at first. Worrying if they would come apart etc. But when I talked with my doctor I think this is what I understand, Please let me know if this is right or just what I wanted to hear. Let me know your take on it. I think he said that the first 12 days is the crucial part. After 12 days your stomach is healed and the tissue is grown back together. I guess my question is, is that what happens. The staples are just pretty much holding until the tissue of your stomach grows back together so that doesn't have to be a fear for life. So the tissue grows back and then your pretty much back to normal just with a smaller stomach. This makes me think of another question I keep wondering about. Sorry for all the questions. With the band I had to always be careful not to get stomach virus or to throw up for fear of slipping the band (which I did and had to have it repaired) Is this something you have to worry about with the sleeve. If I get a stomach virus or throw up is there going to always be a fear of tearing my stomach apart?

Scared and scared I'm going to cancel and bolt
I'm confident in my doctor. That is one area that I am happy. I've heard for years that the doctor I have is one of the best Surgeons in town. He does everyday surgeries as well as the bariatric surgeries. When I mentioned in the office the day I made my surgery date, that I was scared the office lady said, no worries for you, you have the best surgeon around. So that makes me confident. I think I'm just freaking myself out with the unknown. Worrying about things that may never need to be worried about. I feel better seeing that others have the same worries. FB Coach: When I had my lapband done the after surgery eating was the same. My doctor told me that the times aren't set in stone. You will know when your stomach is ready for the next stage. IT may be in 5 days instead of 7 etc. I ate baked potatoes and cheese a lot. I'm a really picky eater so didn't like a lot of anything. My doctor gave me a list of of items for each stage for ideas. You might ask your doctor if they have something like that for you.

Scared and scared I'm going to cancel and bolt
I worry about those things too. But it's more like I'm worried that those are the things that will happen to change my home life. My insurance does not pay for this so I'm having to pay out of pocket so I worry if anything goes wrong and extra surgery or things need to be done then here I am in more debt. Reading other's posts it seems people have a hard time not being able to eat more or getting used to the small amounts. Since I had the band before I went through that and those things didn't really bother me. When My band worked I felt full most of the time and pretty much had to make myself eat so I'm thinking those won't be issues for me. (hopefully). I've really prayed about this a lot before I made the decision to go on with this surgery and I guess when My husband started worrying today it made me wonder if that was a sign from God that I needed to cancel. I know stupid but I am just really worried. I remember being worried before my band but nothing like this.

Scared and scared I'm going to cancel and bolt
Yes my fear is definately the unknown. I find myself with family or my kids thinking other than being over weight I'm very happy, what if this surgery being permanent changes my life forever and I can never enjoy these moments in a happy way. With the band it was easier to jump in because I knew it could be undone if it messed me up. With this my fear is being permanent if something is wrong then I'm stuck with it for life. Just very scary. My husband started worrying today so I think that's made my worried go way up and overboard.

Scared and scared I'm going to cancel and bolt
OK my surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday the 27th to have my band taken out and to go to the sleeve. I am sooo scared. Today I'm really considering canceling my surgery. My fear is the unknown. I'm very excited about the outcome of after the surgery but with my band there were times I was miserable. At times I had reflux so bad when I layed down at night that I could not sleep unless I was sitting up in a chair. During these times I was miserable. I actually had my band fluid removed because of it and am almost back to pre band weight. I had lost 87 lbs and now am 10 lbs from my pre band weight. My fear is that when if I get the sleeve and this happens or I feel this way I'm stuck with it for life and I could not stand that. I'd rather be heavy and happy than skinny and miserable. Has anyone had this problem with the sleeve?

scared and unsure
With the sleeve I know everyone keeps saying they eat anything they want but can you eat spicy food? That's the one thing I was worried about having to give up permanently. And have I read that I can't drink Diet coke anymore with the sleeve? Just crossing all my T's so I can prepare myself.

scared and unsure
Thanks for the info. My doctor that did my band is the one that actually said he thinks I should have the revision. When he first mentioned it I said absolutely not that's permanent and if it screws me up and I feel bad then I'm stuck with it. I had my band done in 2005 so I guess they really didn't know then either. After researching and reading so much on this site and hearing from ya'll I have decided I definately want to do it. Now I just have to save my money. My doctor is willing to know off $3000 of his fee's and let me pay him out but just the hospital cost is outrageous. I have to come up with $13500 to have it done. Now that I've decided I want to do it NOW! So, hopefully I can figure out soon how to pay for it. Thank you so much for the information and sharing your stories with me.

scared and unsure
I had the band done about 5 years ago. I have had nothing but trouble the entire time. The first fill I went for was unable to be done because My port had come loose. So, I had to have surgery again to fix the problem. I then was pretty successful after that. From Oct to July I lost about 90 lbs then in August I started having problems and then found out that my band had slipped so in less than a year my port came off then my band slipped. Need I mention insurance does not cover my procedures. After having my band repaired I have had no luck and felt horrible. I have gained 60 of the 90 lbs back. I just went yesterday and had what Fluid I had in taken out because I constantly felt bad. Always having heart burn, not sleeping at night due to reflux even when eating by 5 and not going to bed until 10:30. My doctor feels that I should remove the band and go to the sleeve. My first reaction was absolutely not because that's permanent. I had never heard of the sleeve before yesterday. I have been researching today and it excites me and scares me to death all at one time. Can anyone that has had problems with the band and moved to the sleeve tell me about your experience. My fear is what if I do it and then have heart burn and reflux constantly. Then it's permanent. Atleast with the band I could remove my fluid. I'd rather be fat and feel good than skinny and miserable. Has anyone had problems of reflux or heart burn with the sleeve. It just scared me to death to think of having my stomach cut out.
