    Tzatziki Lassi/shake

Thanks for the suggestion! Folks, a lassi is a pureed yoghurt-based drink comon in India, it can be sweetened with fruit or salted and spiced and herbs added. It is often used as a palate refresher with spicy curries. Tzatziki is a Greek salad made with chopped or grated cucumber, mint, Greek yoghurt and sometimes lemon. You could use lemon here too but I love lime. Cooks helper garlic is a product that is basically liquefied garlic (with a bit of sunflower oil) and a smooth garlic paste is a good replacement. Anyway I kind of mixed the Greek and Indian components together to get a savoury garlicky minty cucumbery drink. It is pretty darn YUM.
  2. I wonder which choccy the bear chose first? This is cracking me up Patrick.

  9. I'm also a July 2nd sleever, I was told to wait until my two week follow-up to get cleared for any exercise other than walking, so be careful! I've been walking around our neighbourhood, small 10 minute walks at a time.

    Hey July Sleevers!

Hi vhoke1, my hospital stay was two days.boy was it good to be home! I'm one week out today!
  11. Things are going smoothly, although I'm a bit tired and need to sleep quite often and am still stuck on my back like a turtle when I try to get out of bed in the morning. HOWEVER, I managed to sleep on my side last night- yay! I am drinking protein shakes (muscle milk this morning) and soup (butternut and sweet potato today), and thinned 0% fage yoghurt with splenda and vanilla essence added. 10 g of protein too! My cat is still not doing so great. They have increased her feeding, if I bring her home I will have to tube- feed her every 4 hours and I'm just not up to that right now, so I've asked the vet to keep her for a few more days.

    Hey July Sleevers!

Hi Nustyle- I tried to quote your question but I keep being redirected to the LilySlim site! Ack! I am doing great. My smallest incision is a bit weepy, I am a little tired at various times during the day (I just go and nap) and I need help sitting up from lying flat, but otherwise feel good, no nausea, no major pain, no upchucking or anything. I'm in ridiculously rude health actually. I'm sure everything will go smoothly for you too - xx
  13. I've had sinus problems since I was a child until a couple of years ago I discovered a neti-pot.It is a little teapot-like vessel that you put warm water into, with a little pure salt, and then you pour it into one nostril (over a basin of course) while your head is upside down. I swear my sunuses were clean as a whistle after that. For a while I used it every day, but nowadays as soon as I feel a little stuffy I use it twice a day for a few days. Works like a charm. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsZeILCedRw

    Hey July Sleevers!

Good luck vsgchichi and Nustyle! HOORAY Sweetsusie- welcome to the losers bench!
  15. Take earplugs and an eyemask to shut out the hospital traffic. Even though I was in a private room it was like a bus station around my bed, as the nurses came in to change the IV and check my stats. Make sure your tummy pillow is firm and stretches widthways across most of the tum. I had snuggly socks as I was occasionally cold the first couple of days, and they were so comforting. You will do GREAT Jonathan!

    Full Liquids Day 5

Today my surgeon cleared me for his version of "phase 2" which aded to clears, is fat free gravy, fat free yoghurt, sugar/fat free puddings, and later pureed potato, veg and labneh (a type of soft cheese here). So I had cram of muhroom soup, strained, with some ff yoghurt mixed in. OMG heaven! I was sick of clears! Now I'm trying to think of sneaky ways to add protein to all of this.

    A Bit Tired Day 4

I'm a little bit tired today, doing all the right stuff- drinking as much as possible and am trying to drink 1 isopure clear a day diluted with water. I seem to have no problem drinking slowly. I didn't manage all of an isopure yesterday, but did the day before. It is what it is! I'm keeping hydrated. Today I am feeling good but a little tired and strangely emotional, I think I need to catch up on some sleep and so will take it easy today. One of my incisions is weeping a little, the smallest one. It is not angry or red, I cleaned it with a dettol solution & put another waterproof dressing on so perhaps this is normal as it doesn't hurt. I won't worry about it unless it gets swollen, red or painful. I'm quite PLEASANTLY surprised BY how low-key and uneventful my recovery is- which is great! Long may it last!!!

    A Bit Tired Day 4

I'm not regretting anything funnily enough but I think I have a bit of cabin fever! I'm so glad others have experienced this, was starting to feel like a bit of a weeping wailer!
  21. 5kg down since surgery day! (11lb)

  22. I've had so many years of being the fat girl with the pretty face, or the chubby sidekick when I've been out with the girls- I SO hear ya Jonathan, when you are fat you are invisible. No matter how witty, charming, funny, or confident or intelligent you may be,or how much you love yourself, a huge portion of society "sees past" us in terms of dating. Being obese and single is WAY more difficult in our hyper-visual world.
  23. Day after tomorrow is full liquids! Yay!
