December sleevers!
Try going later in the evening (ie. party starts at 6, arrive at 7). Get a glass of water and nurse it all evening, that way it'll be as though you are participating in the party.

Gastric Sleeve Surgery Not As Bad As I Thought
Sounds like you are progressing nicely. I am being sleeved tomorrow.

December sleevers!
I definitely know what you are talking about. It seems as though the lack of food and anxiety about the surgery itself consumed me for the last two weeks. I've been totally scatterbrained. I have been planning activities for the week I'll be out so the stress level is definitely up there. I'M AT WORK RIGHT NOW! ON A SUNDAY! But, tomorrow, I plan on getting lots of rest after the surgery.

What Should I Tell My Doctor?
I sent my general and nurse practioner a letter letting them know that an out-of-network doctor would be performing the sleeve on Dec 12th. I then inquired about any tests they would need in order to maintain a good chart on my progress. I also told them that I would have the surgery records sent to them as soon as they were available. They wished me the best and said there was no need for additional testing. I think the major difference was that my VSG journey started with them. They already knew that I was interested in the surgery. The location or even the name of the surgeon never came up as a question so I didn't mention it. Since you've already been sleeved, I would suggest you schedule a follow-up physical with your primary.

December sleevers!
I haven't lost much during pre-op. It disturbs me. Today I started the clear liquid only portion. I've been having a hard time concentrating on things. I've been a real scatterbrain lately. I have to finish Christmas shopping tomorrow and making sure that everything is in place for my return home from the hospital. I hope the sales associates don't get in my way, because I have a feeling that I will have low energy and a mean demeanor. I can't wait to start my uphill battle on Monday.

Aetna approved my surgery, was sleeved on 9/14 and now they are saying not approved???
$70,000??? Wow! I could understand why Aetna is so upset. Sounds like the medical industry is ripping someone off.

Getting Ready And Going To Mexico For My Gastric Sleeve Surgery
I would encourage you to continue the battle with your insurance company if they have not listed bariatric surgery as an exception. But, to answer your question, I am going to Dr. Kelly in Tijuana on Monday and I am using a passport card. A portion of the monies paid for the surgery also goes toward ground transportation from San Diego to Tijuana. It took two and a half weeks for me to get a card (I paid for it to be expedited).

"you Don't Need Gastric Sleeve Surgery" Is What Everyone Keeps Telling Me
Let's put this into perspective, I'm 5'4", 275lbs, with a BMI of 47. Ever since I told my co-workers and friends, the first thing they say is "Your not that big......other people are bigger than you. That surgery is for them." Uh....I'm dang near 300lbs and my feet and back hurt.......I'M GETTIN THE DARN SURGERY!!! My decision is NOT to suit them or ease their concerns, it is for me, my health, and my happiness. Do what's best for YOU! Love yourself, be confident in yourself, and eventually they will come around.

Help With Bmi Question- Medica
Also, try to get your approval weigh-in during the afternoon as that's when it seems your body starts to retain fluids. It may give you a boost in weight.

Has Anyone Cheated On The Week Or 2 Week Pre Gastric Sleeve Op Diet?
I'm in the second week of my pre-op diet, but on day 7 I ate a huge pork burrito. I hadn't eaten or drank the majority of the day. I mean, if I was gonna cheat, I was gonna do it big. Luckily, this week is the most part of my diet and I've been an angel.

Fmla For Hubby To Take Care Of Me 1st Week Post Op? Will A Doc Sign?
The FMLA Certification form is just to prove that you, his spouse, has a serious medical condition (surgery). That is all the surgeon is signing off on so it shouldn't be a problem. Your husband then completes the employee portion explaining what he plans on doing to take care of you. Tell him to use general statements. If you need more information or his company denies your hubbies' FMLA request, then hit me up.

Preop Gastric Surgery Diet Is Awful!
My surgery date is the 12th and I am also having a tough time with the Pre-Op diet I started Monday. I have a high stress job, yet I'm having a hard time concentrating because I am starving and have had a headache. I am also having nagging back pain, kinda like the one you get when you have a kidney infection (and I know I don't). I haven't had any bad reactions from the shakes, but they are absolutely NOT my favorite things to drink. My diet gets worse next week when I will be on liquids only (I eat a small tuna or chicken salad for lunch). My only advise is to stay busy.....that's the only time I don't notice the hunger pains.

Im So Ready For This Gastric Sleeve Journey To Begin!

December sleevers!
We're Southerners, that's how we act. If you don't clean your plate or accept a sample of our homemade dish then we're offended.....NO WONDER WE LEAD THE U.S. IN OBESITY!!! And your mother-in-law questioning your reasoning for dieting during the holidays was simply unacceptable. She should have applauded your resolve. I just don't get family sometimes, they are our biggest critics. Happy Sleeving!!

Sooo Did Everyone Have A Nice "last" Thanksgiving?
I go into my two week pre-op on Monday so YES, I enjoyed myself. I don't think that I overate, but I do think that I'll be eating much less next year this time.

Dating
I recently ran into an ex-boyfriend online and he keeps pressuring me to reunite. We split on somewhat good terms. Although I was a large person when we dated, I'm about 30lbs larger now. I am so ashamed for him to see me like this. I keep putting him off by telling him that my work schedule simply won't allow it. I keep telling myself that if I can get him to wait one more month (having surgery on the 12th) that he'll be seeing me at or near the same weight we split. I know that he's a great guy and I am more than willing to give it another go, but how can I get past this shame?
