Update on Surgery against my Will
DougNichols replied to Carrie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No, I too find it funny that: - Everybody is to blame for her surgery, except for Carrie. - She removed her profile picture and changed gender to "unspecified" immediately after she began heavily complaining. I can see removing a pic, but the gender thing made me giggle. - The moment people point out the silliness of her statements, she goes into hiding for a few days. Not only that, but she announces that she's leaving so we'll somehow feel guilty about how evil and mean we are. Then she comes back and posts the same topic with a different title, to test the waters. It just seems like she's demanding support and attention from an internet bulletin board. When realistically she needs some family or friends, or better yet - probably a counselor at this point if she's genuinely having mental issues. All the above is just my opinion, please don't sue me too. -

Something I never thought I'd have to cope with...
DougNichols replied to WildIris's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Woah now, at least you have good subset of guys that like bigger women. Us fat guys are totally ignored. Looking over the family pics on this site (and others), I see bigger women with mostly non-obese husbands and boyfriends. The fat men are rare to find. :scared0: I've had women TURN AND RUN FROM ME in a club when I approached. So don't think the "thin preference" is one-sided. It ain't. -

Grats dude, that's AMAZING! -
I have 12 level 80's, all of which were heavily geared before I quit 8 months ago. It was the reason I gained a lot of weight, so I knew that I had to get it out of my life.

I went to Amazon, and there's so many. I probably have all of the food addiction symptoms possible (head hunger, emotional hunger, overeating, etc). The LAST thing I want is to finish surgery and gain weight again because I didn't resolve the mental issues. Out of the 30+ books available, which do you recommend for: - Learning why this happens - Implementing a plan to fix I'm going to counseling as well for any underlying problems that might have led to it. thanks!

Ex co-worker died of a heart attack (Dr told him to lose weight)
DougNichols posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ex co-worker of mine died at the age of 50 from a heart attack while sitting at work (he now works at a different company). We all knew him, and he was an awesome person. Yet his life ended while in a chair in an office building. And he wasn't even that old... They're blaming weight and lack of exercise. Makes me feel good about going through the VSG approval process. I DO NOT WANT TO DIE AT 50 YEARS OLD, especially while sitting at work doing overtime on some important project. -

I know I know....it wasn't the healthiest...
DougNichols replied to DDUKES's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Meh, I'm eating Whataburger chicken strips for lunch every day and losing 3 lbs a week, pre-surgery of course. Not healthy but I'm getting the job done of dropping a little weight before seeing my nutritionist. -
Poll: To tell or not to tell co-workers
DougNichols replied to Texanatheart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was mobbed by the rest of my tarot class on Tuesday. "I don't think you should get surgery, why can't you just diet, my friend died from gastric bypass, blah blah blah". Defended myself for like 30 minutes, what a pain. I feel sorry for you guys who have gossipy work environments. I'm never telling anybody outside my family (and boss). -

Question Re 3 Month Intensive Program with Aetna
DougNichols replied to mmcclure's topic in Insurance & Financing
Aetna won't cover my nutritionist, even though it's required for my sleeve surgery intense program. I'm appealing it. Very annoying, and I don't want to pay $500 total for all the visits. -
I just got back from mine! He gave me a 370 question test, then asked me 10 multiple choice questions. The remainder of the time he told me all about surgery, eating after, the stages of food (clear liquid, liquid, mushy, etc). 90% of the "psych eval" was him giving me information. :confused1:

So the sleep study people called me, and told me I have sleep apnea. NOOOOOOOOOO My surgeon recommends I go back to the sleep center and take another study with some face mask on. Are you serious? Look dude, I sleep 9 hours without waking up at all. I'm never tired during the day. Those people at the center probably recorded me coughing before I went to sleep as "trouble breathing". I snore BECAUSE I'M FAT. All that will go away immediately after I drop 100 lbs... So I call the surgeon's office who says the CPAP machine is OPTIONAL. I don't have to go back, and it won't affect my insurance. Yay! So why did I bother with that stupid sleep study in the first place? But my Aetna surgery requirements form says I need a new sleep study if I lose more than 15 lbs, which I probably will lose 40+ lbs before it's all over. THEY'RE EVIL! I'M NOT GOING BACK! :sad0:

clear liquid diet on the road
DougNichols replied to lamsunshine's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've seen broth in little paper containers. You could microwave one of those at a convenience store on the way. From other threads, I'm not sure pudding is allowed, but Jello is. Fruit juices too: How to Follow a Clear liquid diet - wikiHow -
Eating Out Wisdom to Share with my Boyfriend

Oh great ... I have sleep apnea
DougNichols replied to DougNichols's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sleep study has to be rigged, I bet all the other fat guys who were with me got the same diagnosis (in order for them to spend the money to come back, and buy that machine, etc). This was probably what triggered that angry customer from Saturday night. They should just stab a knife into your arm, and record any irregularities while you sleep. "Just ignore the knife, sir!" Yeah right... -
You Tube Videos for Inspiration
DougNichols replied to Carrie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I like Kella's, because she talks about the psychology behind her eating, and how she's overcoming it. And also, she eats kinda normal yet still loses weight (occasional cookie, interesting foods). I really liked her theory about fast food joints. Even if you're going there to buy healthy stuff, it's only a matter of time before you order something less healthy. YouTube - Kellawanda's Channel -
how much food can you eat after 6-9-12 months?
DougNichols replied to johan22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm curious, does your stomach actually "stretch" over time, or does it just handle slightly more food because the wounds have healed up?
